Daily Stoic

At first, meh, but after poking around, good. Notifications did not work for me. Now, a year later, I use this app the most on my phone. It is my go-to for many good reasons ever day. Nice feature to be able to choose authors. I did so chronologically, one at a time. It's useful that the author's dates are listed in the app. Fantastic that there is no distraction from ads (yet?); they are nicely at the bbotto. The search feature is very nice too, but the heuristics are weak, i.e. no RegEx.

Hey, man, I love your app. I really think you would see more profit if you lowered the cost of removing ads to 1 or 2 dollars. People are willing to support production of great products, but 5 dollars is just too much. You may get a few people buying, but many, many more would be willing to contribute if it were a more reasonable price to remove ads. Consider the cost of removing ads in many more functional apps: it is rarely more then 4 dollars. Either way, thank you for your hard work!

Simple design, everything it needs to be and nothing more. I get exactly the one push notification a day that I want, I get the quote, and it's done. No bloated interface/pushes/etc. Convenient buttons to share, save, read aloud (standard Android read, it's rough but nice option). Can scroll through if you want more. Love it, thanks so much!

I must write that this is the best 'quote' app I've actually downloaded. I really mean that. Some of the things which I really like about this app is that it is clear and 'tidy'. I also like the way I get a quote every day. You do get ads on the app, but they are small and at the bottom of the screen. Anyone who is interested in the philosophy of Stoicism would benefit from downloading this app. It is absolutely FREE! NO ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION! ISN'T THAT AWESOME? Go ahead... click that button.

Love this, especially the fullscreen part where it changes font. Although, I wish we could do the same with the quotes we search for (in the searchbox), they don't transform into the beautiful italic version and I have to wait for them to show up again (in normal mode). Either way, thank you for creating this. :)

Simple, useful, it heleped me not to vaste as much time on youtube, or doing some other not that useful thing, dosen't work all the time on me, but, cause it is easy and nice to use, l can easily read an insparational quote, to stop doing something useless on my phone, dosen't work all the time, gets repetetive at some point, but still, a nice app to have

I'm not one to keep random Apps around for too long, I tend to lose interest due to superficial content. BUT . This one. So very enriched and wholesome! Quotes highlighted are deep and though-provoking , providing an abundant variety of blurbs spoken by historical Ancient Greek Stoic Philosophers . Easily navigable, users are able to browse the extensively-detailed content with ease. Developers have gone above and beyond providing resources to further philosophical teachings. Bravo!

LOVE waking up to the food for thought provided, it's awesome that the app delivers on a schedule. Excellent user interface, so simple anyone can use The Stoic. Would like to be able to set up more alerts throughout the day. If individual quotes found through the search function could be displayed artistically upon selection, as on the front end of the app (with the philosopher's bust or image) in larger print as well as in small print list view, that would be an improvement. An awesome app. Is there anything better than this out there. The developer has taken care to give importance to the content. The ads are not intrusive and disturbing anymore limited to a short space. The dark mode theme and other ui changes just set the mood right. I would like to really thank the people behind this app who made accessible the wisdom of ages. God bless them.

Great stoic philosophy app. Thank you for creating such a lovely app. I like the design and the dark mode. The only thing which I would like is that one could change the size of the fonts. In the new version the font size of the bookmarked quotes is a bit too small. But the rest is perfect :)

It's really amazing app. I don't think there could be any human life that doesn't need and practice stoicism, whether consciously or subconsciously. But it's always better to learn and practice an art in a official and disciplined way, when such rich and long heritage is available. And nothing beats getting a small reminder or lesson every from the old masters so that we may not stray. The app is damn near perfect for what is does and has to do. Very little intrusive ness. Developer is amazing.❤

The application is ok but persistent bugs and lack of useful organization. I paid to remove ads and I keep seeing ads. I emailed support for it and the dev told me to install again or update I did that but still see ads when changing quotes and sometimes. So it is not worthy paying this. Beside that when you bookmark a quote there is not organization or category on the list and is useless.

I love this app, but it has a bug I've been encountering for years: sometimes the daily quotes will just stop sending. Eventually I realize I haven't been getting daily stoic quotes notifications and I have uninstall and reinstall to fix it

The only reason I give a four star review is that the daily feature is a bit buggy. Some days it just decides not to give me a quote! But I love this app. It's an efficient way to be exposed to stoicism while also reading other works, and it says a lot how you check in every now and then with reminders about personal care. Thank you for making this, just tweak the daily feature a bit!

It's honestly been a very good app. And recently I noticed they put in a "!" On the left side of the screen for people that need help talking to someone about their mental health. I just though that was really thoughtful of the developer and appreciate the sincerity. Keep up the amazing work

The app is great! It has been helping me a ton. The only problem is that when I exit the app it sends me all the way back to quote #1. I wish it had an option so it could leave me on the quote I left on. Other than that, great job!

Fantastic app - I recommend this to everyone. This app sends you a notification of a new quote every morning that you can look at. It's sharing options allow you to send the quote as text or as an image which is unique and I love it. It also has a bookmarking system so you can save your favorite quotes. Very well done.

Ads, ads, ads. No way around them, they must be endured. All is ads, and ads are all. These ads are merely a passing thing and cannot affect the soul, but the certainly may vex the student who seeks wisdom through this pedestrian and rather useless app.

Overly intrusive loud video ads that pop up and cover the whole screen, I uninstalled immediately after the first one. Ads are to be expected in a free app, but this is over the top. Banner ads would not interfere with the user experience so much.

Great app. Love the choice of quotes. more data refresh would be nice. Ad driven, but not really too intrusive for the value of the app. Use it every day. Adding this much later. I seem to be getting the quotes repeated if I look at more than one a day. Any way to pull the next quote from farther into the list than the last one I saw? Thanks. Still like the app, I just have to scroll some.

One of the better Stoic apps, I love the notifications although I do find them glitching sometimes. Please please please change the robotic voice I would love for this to read it to me in the morning. Would be cool if from the notification dropdown you can hit play and it would read it aloud without having the need to open the app. For that 4*

The app is really good, but it can be a lot better if there where an option to change the languaje... to spanish for example, i'm just saying, but i'd really like it to be in another lenguajes too.

I'm giving the app 5 stars only because i like the basic basic ideas , but I'm very confused , can anyone explain me what exactly is this app , even reading the entire description i only able to understand that it is saying that this app will help me to become a good person , but i really don't have any idea what exactly is happening , I'm interested to use but can't able to understand, please anyone explain

Easy to use and I like a daily quotation, but it has few features. It doesn't do much more than sample quotes uniform randomly, although you can save favourites to a list, and select which authors you want quoted. How about adding a history, notes and ratings?

It would be pretty awesome if this app had an in built library ... Some of the words are pretty complicated , u could add the meanings of few words .So i wouldnt have to switch between two apps to find the meaning of that word.. Anyways, giving this a 5star (the app is pretty good and doesnt have any bugs) ✌❤

Perfect for the philosophical mind. I enjoy the daily notification very much. Stoicism has been a staple of my mindset since studying the historical way of life in college. My only issue with the app is that sometimes quotes are in a different language and the translation is not available.

ok i usually dont mind ads, but this isnt the kind of app where i would like to be interrupted with a screaming ad. lowers the quality of your experience tremendously. if it were just ads that dont have sounds it would be fine but this just ruins the whole thing

Controls allow app to run silent. Consistent daily quotes. Quotes are random. Easy to share to apps like memo or text message. There are probably more features in this app that I don't even know about! It does what I need without glitching. I use The Stoic daily, I really like it and have already recommended to my closest friends. Thanks for providing this app free to use! I have had significant flare ups in my health and the thinking's of great philosophers have helped get me out of my head.
