DanTDM - The Contest
Created by the world-famous YouTuber DanTDM, this app is to be used in conjunction with the cinema release of DanTDM Presents The Contest.
The Contest app is an interactive way for you to join in and access exclusive content during the cinematic event. The offline app will allow you to get involved from your cinema seat, so that you can play along as you watch the film!
When prompted on the big screen, you will be able to take part via some very special questions created just for this cinema release, whilst you also support your chosen Tribe as they battle it out to become the winner of The Mega Cup and ultimately, The Contest itself!
Make sure you download The Contest App before heading to the cinemas on November 2nd & 3rd!

None of the interactive aspects of the show worked for me or anyone sat near me. We checked notifications as the app said. Bluetooth was on and cell data was fine. I appreciate the app probably doesn't really affect the show, but if the whole point is to make my kid feel part of the show, it failed miserably.
Between us on 3 different devices we couldn't get the interactive part (the polls) to work at Birmingham Arena last night. Bluetooth was on, location was on, notifications on, the correct venue and tribe chosen. Around me it was evident many other people couldn't access the polls either, however some could via notification alerts. Nobody in my group got these notifications. I think the app either needs a lot of work or more explanation is required. As a parent it was quite frustrating.
Wasn't able to download the app until after the show so it was pretty much useless for me. Saw others using it fine as well as some struggling with it. The app could have used some tweaking but the show itself was great all the same.
went to Birmingham show today, no pre event updates came through leading up to the evend and unable to participate in the interactive stuff during the show. had 4g during show so should have been ok. iphone users appeared to be interacting so assume it relates to android version app, so on the face of it the app failed to so the one task it was built to do. thats poor and useless.
Doesn't work... No notifications, no photos updated. Nothing until we got into the arena, then a message to check notifications but....nothing. 2 very unhappy children who could not take part in the quizzes. Also we arrived with 2 phones fully charged and only the app running...left with one phone completely out of battery and one with only 10% left. I would say the show was great and the kids really enjoyed it but the app was a major let down.
It was somewhat cheeky of cinemas to charge 'Event' pricing for this *pre-recorded* arena live show from earlier this year.. it wasn't a special live event for cinemas. I kinda resent paying over £11 a ticket.. it'd been much more appropriate to charge standard film prices (and allow you to use money off vouchers, etc). The interactive portion is simply 10 multi-choice questions over the course of the video.. the app is offline, so means absolutely nothing, and you don't even see your score at the end. During the (previously live arena) show, kids picked from the audience play some mini-games.. those would have been great to have in the app & left my kids wanting to play them too. That would have really added to the experience. If this had actually been live and much more interactive (Q&A over the app maybe?, mini-games that contribute to the tribe score, a quiz that actually fed back answers, etc), then I'd have really respected them for pulling it off. If they can do live ballet, musicals and plays, why wasn't this live too? Overall, it was good for an 6-8yr old.. and the enjoyment quickly tails off the older you get.
Downloaded app in readiness for Birmingham Arena show - absolutely useless. We were a family of three, with three separate (android) phones and not one received the notifications required to participate in the quizzes etc. My daughter was so disappointed at the lack of opportunity for interactivity given that this was emphasised before and during the show. Very poor.
Why did the permissions for this app require contacts, camera and microphone? Why did you need parents consent and email address? The app didn't work at Wembley on our android. Missed the initial excitement by trying to get the app to connect. I had wondered how it was possible for you to connect to thousands of phones simultaneously via Bluetooth...
This app is an awesome app, especially for kids who love DanTDM! In this app, you can interact with his new movie, "The contest", and see some behind the scenes! This app is excellently animated, with care and is a very awesome game to install. The graphics exceeded my expectations, and I am glad that this app was possible!
The app didn't work whatsoever at the Birmingham Arena show. 4G and Bluetooth were activated. Very disappointing really for my 10 year old, missed half the show frustratedly trying to make it work.
Didn't work well at all.. No messages, no chance to answer questions. It's not clear on what to do except turn Bluetooth on, which we did but nothing. One of us in the group did receive a message saying they had been selected to play, suggesting that not everyone was going to get a chance to play anyway. They was using an apple device and we was android. I saw lots of people having the same problem.. Just don't hype the app and prep the kids that it may not work and you'll have a great show.
frustrating and pointless, didn't receive any of the trivia questions and even during the show most of our block couldn't get it o work. could have been so much better.
Installed as attending at Birmingham. worked initially although not clear if missed anything prior to attending. At stadium app did not work even though husband who installed it that morning with the same phone had his working (ish). Even uninstalled and re installed at the event...and still nothing! it wouldn't had been so bad seen as hubby had one working between our two boys but I had purposely purchased £20 more data to ensure I could use it during the event. what a waste!
Dan done a stellar job at the SSE arena last night and as a parent I was just delighted to see my daughters face when she was just so pleased to actually see you in person. The app itself is a total let down and does not work before or during the contest. The idea is a good one but the tour and app seem rushed.... The kids and us parents thought we would all be in involved and we weren't. A slightly bad aftertaste to an otherwise good but not great show.
Doesn't work at all. Have had no updates on the run up to the show at the SSE Glasgow, and am currently sitting in the show during the interval with two devastated 9 year olds as none of the notifications or quizzes are coming through, and so my kids can't take part. 4G is working, Bluetooth and notifications on and I've even reinstalled the app to try and get it to work. Disappointed kids and means they feel really uninvolved, which surely was the whole point?
Hi, I love this app for the damtdm contest, the movie was amazing and so was the app, I love the interactive options for the contest, as well messages from dantdm, the experience was amazing and the whole of Team TDM would agree, hopefully there is another movie and another app :D
so we downloaded this because it was supposed to keep us up to date and for some fun in the run up to the show. since we downloaded it absolutely nothing has been added to the app. theres not even a game you can play. what s the point of an app that does nothing
The app is very laggy and the quizzes are flawed - as soon as they pop up, they are already expired. The app needs better connectivity and better notifications for the quiz. Also changing between screens takes forever.
Well apart from having to ask my 62year old mother if I could use the app initially, it all looks good and now to get it installed on the kids phones..! :) Ignore any poor reviews from the Arktikan or Talonian tribes, they arent as grounded as us Arboreans in the use of technology, but come the day of the contest we'll show them who's the greatest..! TL;DR Its the Arboreans.. :)
Not that great. Not that great. Paid quite a lot to go watch my children get very disappointed watching DanTDM at the cinema, the app was pretty useless as it did not you play any games, you just answered questions that interrupted the sequence of the show. You had to watch others play games while holding onto the app hoping that at some point your answers would contribute to the overall score, only it didn't Pretty useless. Once downloaded you dont need wifi or internet....but why bother ?
looks so cool but something weird that I'm beginning but before I begin I saw that it said that my parents or guardian must be contest and the weirder is that I'm gonna give my phone to them so I insert email and I agree to terms of use and privacy policy but it doesn't work let me tell you about it: 1- my parents didn't mean that. 2- there's no guardians in my house. 3- fix this thing because something went wrong about it. 4- connect to the other router may it doesn't work. now good luck:)
Doesn't work, won't let you login and then hits you with about 11 notifications. So seems a bit phishy, like its collecting email addresses.
Pointless gimmick- only questions no games! This was a waste of time downloading, it would have been nice to have played the actual contest games.
Show was the worst thing I have ever paid for. App had no connection to "live show" which was pre-recorded. I think it's like 8 questions but has no link to the show other than the show asks the same questions. Pointless app, pointless show. Should be negative stars as I feel like this is a scam. Drove an hour for a live interactive show which was niether live nor interactive.
Sadly only one alert to answer a question came up, and for others if the alert did come up they couldn't submit there answer. There doesn't appear to have been enough beta testing.
Not an interactive experience. Meant nothing. Watching others play videogames with NO INTERACTIVITY. This was crass. A lesson learned. All this app did was gain access to my contacts. Terrible.
i am at the show. app is not working. got stuck when ask me to put the email and accept the terms. it keeps loading and loading and loading...
This had a great movie set up for it sadly there is really no point to use it again let alone anything much to do during the movie.

Was at the Birmingham show. The app was fine when it worked, were able to take part in the show, but it kept spamming my phone with notifications for past questions, and even interfered with my video capture! I didn't take much footage of the show, just a few bits for my daughter to relive, but the audio is worthless due to the notification bing and the phone vibration being captured on the video. Shame really. Great show though, Dan!
