Dark Horse Comics

It crashes. A lot. Likewise downloading purchases doesn't always work, it gets caught in a neverending loop. I try to be patient, but these bugs for what is basically a comic app is beyond a joke. I want to enjoy these comics. Sort your app out. I wrote this two years ago. Still buggy, freezes, crashes and doesn't work.

The app crashes constantly, I can't use it to buy digital comics, most of the comics I own don't register as bought on the app and I have to buy and read the comics through my PC and the website is equally unstable. It has been like this for years and it doesn't get beter and they hardly ever bother to update. It doesn't even deserve one star, but that's the least possible to give.

Can't zoom in on pages when reading horizontally, which makes reading double pages impossible. Support was responsive, but for some reason (laziness?) they weren't able to replicate the issue, so I can't say much good about this app. There are other issues too, like pages very often don't load in HD, the app crashes often, and the lack of customization options is just lazy. Basically, if you want to read their comics in a convenient way, you're going to waste your money here.

The reader is unpleasant to use and the store is literally useless. The reader has stupid issues like locking up after input, resetting to the top of the page when you tap to remove the overlay, becoming stuck with a low quality page untill you change pages back and forth. The reader does direct you to the next comic in the series which is nice. In the store you get no images loading, no descriptions and you dont have access to the volume bundles that are on the website.

As far as being an app to read comics, yeah it does the job. But there are so many QOL options it lacks. The ability to actually archive and mark as read those books that you have read is the prime example. Zooming and dragging sometimes doesn't work and they didn't to the job to make all the comics available for digital purchase.

They go to the trouble of making an app and a whole other branch of their site to "go digital", but when you go to purchase a comic through the app it still just takes you out of the app and to the main website and you still have to send card details to the site instead of use PayPal, etc. Reading the sample comics is also awkward and frustrating as hell, as you can't manually scroll or zoom, and have to figure out exactly where and how to click to read the next panel. Very poor effort, DH.

I thought this app was going to be great but when I purchased the second comic in a series I was reading, it didn't download. I even tried to repurchase it but that doesn't work either. Cant find anywhere to ask for help on the app either. Otherwise the layout is nice and I probably would have been happy enough. I'd be careful spending money in this app, if your comic doesn't automatically download you may be screwed.

So I purchased 6 Elfquest comics over 2 hrs ago. The 1st one has been "downloading" for 2 hrs. This is a bit of ridiculous. My internal storage has plenty of space. I have a 5G phone, all my bars are solid. I've tried all the trouble shooting options and nothing. It just says downloading and nothing happens. **I uninstalled and re-installed and now nothing will download. Not even the comics I previously had in ny collection.

Super glitchy won't download. I just bought $40 of comics from them and downloaded their app thinking it would work when I would try to download or open the comics I bought but nope. I thought I was buying paperback copies in the first place, yet a bit too late I realized it was digital so I thought it wouldn't be too bad to download the app and read them on my phone instead. I literally can't. IT team, I have an s8+ if it helps. Change my mind, keep my money, and fix it, please. Thx

The app works well on my Android phone, but is useless on my older Android tablet. It will not, under any circumstances, connect to the login server. I cleared the cache, restarted. Nothing. I uninstalled the app, restarted. Reinstalled. Nothing. This makes accessing offline any of the content I've bought problematic, at best. If I had known that I would only be able to access offline content on my phone, and not the larger tablet, I never would've spent the money on the comics in the first place.

I'm trying to download your comics but it won't let me. It keeps telling to check my connection,however, my connection is fine. You all are losing out on soooo much money because your app doesn't work. You all need to hire someone who knows how to build and app.

Like many people here, I was trying to simply log in to this app and I even bought some comics through my PC, but the app refuses to connect to the server on my older tablet. On my new phone it works great but no on my tablet. It thinks that I'm not connected to the internet. If the old android 4.0 OS is not supported just say so! Don't allow people to download it and think that it will work.

Bought the first comic in a series, read it (can't scroll or zoom how I'd like to), then bought the second comic in the series and it wouldn't download. Checked my bank account and sure enough, I got charged for it, but there is no way on the app that I could find to figure out a way to get my purchased comic. Unless work on the app is done, don't bother

The app is serviceable, but somewhat unwieldy. One particular oddity seems to be a complete lack of a download progress indicator or bar, which isn't a huge deal but would be a nice quality of life addition.

This app's last update was almost a year ago. No one can access store to buy comics. Some can't even read what they've already purchased. How hard is it to upkeep an app? Especially when you're losing money from customers not being able to access the store. I recommend looking elsewhere to purchase comics.

I tried to read my comics and it bugged out and wouldn't let me read them, skipped to random pages, closed one book multiple times after I opened it, and then the app crashed. Just reinstalled a bunch of times and now it can't even download a single comic great that's just great. It literally worked yesterday what the hell Dark Horse? Update 14/11/21: Just tried to read a book and it was corrupted so are all the other books I downloaded this is not okay Dark Horse.

The app was great when i got it but after purchasing and downloading comics to read it will refuse to let me find more comics or try to purchase more acting like it doesnt know i wish to search more. It needs a major fix to at least let me look up more comics to purchase. It just shows me what i already got and thats it. Like i said please fix this.

The comics are great but experience with using the app no so much anymore. Actually, it discouraged me to buy more comics through the app. The glitches when navigating the app, app crashing on search or freezing at random is simply frustrating.

I would love to write a glowing 5 star review of this app but it is flawed in a frustratingly awful way. Everytime I go to the store the app takes way to long to load, if it loads at all. The day I wrote this review, I could not look at anything in the store. It would either not load, or freeze the app. It even glitches occasionally when you open the app (and it opens to your purchased content). I only use it to get the Vox Machina comics.

Is there no way to preview a few panels of the comic your thinking about buying? usually a great app....love to read....purchased quite a few xomucs over the years...and the ones I've downloaded work fine...but now for some reason...I can't load any new comics....wi-fi...mobile internet....cleared cache...uninstalled/reinstalled app...there site needs some work...comixology works fine

I wanna start reading Berserk and I Am a Hero, but this app is so freaking horrible. I would hop onto an app strictly for Manga, but I also wanna get into Aliens and other series that peak my interest that I can't find on Comixology. Also, free Manga apps have some bad scans and bad translations from time to time. Was looking forward to using Dark Horse, but that's a flop. :/

Just downloaded the app and created an account to purchase comics. Pages takes ages to load and then goes to no results when i select one. Also when i search, it shows no results. I can see no one is maintaining this app.

It took me two days to download a comic another comic I was thinking about buying you can't even buy it takes you to a website what's the point of having a digital store where you can buy items another issue a come across it has several different languages I don't need to see every language the book was printed but I have to say one it does work we should get some free comics although I'm planning on going digital and I don't know if this is the app for me at least at this state definitely

First of all, I don't have a account and every time I try to create one, it says that there was an error. I tried uninstalling it and installing it again. The same thing happened. Second of all, when I download a comic, it would just say loading and and nothing else. I don't know if there is a glitch in the system or what but it isn't working.

creating account went smoothly but once within the comic the transition from page to page is infuriating. it just doesn't work properly. it's buggy as hell.

I would love to give 5 stars. I love Dark Horse Comics!! I cannot give 5 stars.....I run my account on both a Samsung Galexy S10 and an Alcatel Pixi Unite. Most of my downloaded comics will not load properly. It seems that panel view and page turning are very unresponsive. Please update!!!!

The app crashes almost every time I try to use the store. And more importantly it says an issue is .99 and the app store charges 1.99, that's straight up misleading customers.

Reading a comic works well. The app needs a way to organise comics. Needs a folder structure or something similar. Scrolling through lots of comics to find the one I want is a pain

The app isn't really the best and it takes a very long time for it to sync with my Dark Horse library. Even though I've purchased a book I've seen it take it even a day for it to appear in the phone app.
