Since adding an OBD2 sensor to my motorcar I really enjoyed using this app in conjunction with it. I would have given it 5 stars. That is, until this recent update. The scoreboard is missing, one can no longer check engine codes, only data for March '19 is displaying (and it seems incorrect), plus my score has fallen precipitously. This is an awful change, one that prompts me to seek an alternative.
After the latest updates, Dash fails to connect to my OBD2 sensor. I have to clear data/cache from the app to get it to reconnect, only to have it happen with the next trip or two. I don't seem to have the issues when connecting to other apps. Since the missing features have already been addressed, I won't mention it in the review.
Since the last major update, I lost the ability to see my previous statistics distance/efficiency on a monthly/weekly/daily basis. Patiently waiting for these to come back, but my patience isn't unlimited... I've also been having connection issues with my obd2 bt adapter, that had previously worked flawlessly (I've lost a few thousand km of trips because of this)... Great app for about 3 years, now it's just beed disappointing (for the last 2-3 weeks) Update: Now on v4.0.7[711] same thing...
This app used to be great, but after my data was migrated, a whole bunch of features are no longer available to me. Viewing trends from past weeks/months/years is gone, as is the ability to set specific driving alerts. The maintenance section is also completely gone. Please bring these features back!
isn't connecting with my device. it worked for two trips, then told me i have an engine fault (which i do, and I'm aware of it), then stopped connecting. it was really useful for the trips it tracked, i love the driving score feature. doesn't work anymore. it's been trying to initialise the device for the last 4 hours. i did a 20 minute trip 4 hours ago. it starts initialising, then fails and carries on trying for hours on end until i open the app and close it again.
This is really really buggy, to the point of being unusable. I cant add vehicles, it can't store or load trips. when I try to change any settings, units, etc I get a message saying data is still syncing...even though its been on for hours. Tge connection to tye ODB device is intermittent, even though the phone never drops connection. To top it off it continually asks me to buy a odb device when I already have one and the app knows this because it's (when its not bugging out) connected to it.
I've used this app for years and loved it. Now, I can no longer sign in to my account. Do not install unless you're part of a commercial fleet. I really, really liked this app (especially the driving score). Anyone know of any good alternatives? I'm not looking for the level of detail that Torque provides. Something simple and effective that maps my drives and gives me a score that I can use to improve upon as well as diagnostic codes.
EDIT 2018-03-29 Support is almost always extremely responsive. There's the occasional, usually minor bug, but they fix most of them quickly. There are Android issues on Android 8+ that cause Bluetooth to take time connecting to ODB-II devices, so you may miss the first part of a drive bring recorded, like 1-3 minutes. Dash folks tell me they're working on some workarounds. btw the Developer response here is to an older version of my review and no longer relevant, in case it is confusing.
Almost none stop "Extreme Weather Alerts" from the app this morning on my way in to work and have been unable, so far, to find where to disable these. The alerts maxed out at 49 of them. Several app crashes yesterday and today on my hour long commute. Hoping this has to do with the recent maintenance that has been going on.
Great app. Like the last user said some features that were great are missing. I love the IFTTT connection but the 1 minute response time while driving is sub optimal. Latest build has an issue sending notifications. It also seems to continue to run and send IFTTT and notifications after closed where the previous build when closed was closed. I would love to help get this app right and would be willing to beta test. Feel free to reach out as I have an account in the app.
Causing issues on my Android 10 Pixel 3a, specifically a persistent notification requesting to connect to an OBDII that I do not own. This can occur when I'm in Walmart or in the middle of the woods nowhere near a vehicle and often happens on a minute cycle. Tried clearing Bluetooth cache and even resetting my phone, but the only solution i have found is removing this app. Had a great experience with Dash for 2-3 years before this switch to my new phone, so once fixed I would gladly give 5✨.
Dash seemed like a great app, it has a nice UI compared to the more engine management style apps like torque. I like the features and I like to simplicity of it. Just need to support hybrid vehicles and I'm golden. Although being told I did 300mpg on a quick run is amusing. Drops to 3 stars due to lack of support for hybrid engines and the fuel station feature being omitted from the UK.
Missing features - what happened to the graphs with the driving score trends, etc and the fault code checking feature? i don't see the point of the app without them. i was in the beta program and left because i wanted the old version back, but that didn't help, and now i can't get back in the beta. :(
Used to be good, but now it's useless, aside from reading out your gauges., can't change any configuration options, can't add any vehicles to your garage. This app is in "zombie" state. It seems that it has been abandoned. It should probably be removed from the Play store at this point.
Dash hasn't been working properly in the last few weeks. Says that the total fuel consumption for trips is 0,00 l even though it shows (at least sometimes) the average fuel consumption. Sometimes it shows the total length of the trip as 0,00 km. You can't see your total score on the main page, it only shows the total score from that month only.
New app lost the mtce features and adds vehicles I don't own & can't delete!!. Weather alerts and other alerts constantly repeat and never stop! Someone needs to learn how to roll out a software revision that works!!! This is horrible!!!!
The app has inexplicably stopped working. It no longer connects toy obd device. I thought my device was broken, but I've installed a few obd apps and they are all connecting fine. So it's definitely this app. Please fix.
A steaming pile of hot trash. Doesn't load my garage or let me add a car. Half the features are broken. Signed out and back in like a previous suggestion said, it does nothing. They've abandoned their users completely. It's a shame, as this app was fantastic when it worked.
Can't change preferences at all, such as imperial to metric, gauges are difficult to edit. Should be on-screen, should also be floating gauges so satnav can be used. Gauges too big, used to be smaller. Hard to find in app store. Used to be a brilliant app.
I like the idea, and the interface but in reality I have never been able to get Dash to stay connected to my OBD device. I have tried multiple different Bluetooth OBD devices, dash never stays connected for an entire trip. Uninstalled and switched back to Torque.
Good looking app but it won't sync with my OBDLink LX. I downloaded the official OBDLink to make sure there wasn't an issue with my phone or device but they are working fine. I hope this can be fixed in the future because this app looks like it will do a lot of what I'm looking for.
This app went downhill after the update. No longer connects to my decice, no more engine alerts or schedule and my boost pressure kpa just flashes red/green. I appreciate updates but someone needs to quality control this. I alao have an extra car in my garage now of the same car that was transferred over. I uninstalled and went back to Version 3 and it was great but now it wont let me login.. PLEASE FIX THIS APP ALREADY! update: logs sent
After updates, app started working only sporadically. After fruitless efforts with tech support. I uninstalled the app and threw away the device. My car provides all the data anyway, so. It was only for fun. Why keep yet another avenue for collecting my data when the fun is gone!
It's great at first but after a few minutes it glitches and just gives every driving session a 99. It's kind of annoying. It should just keep the initial score.
Seems a good app, but a number of bugs in the main UI. Could also do with a way to trigger trips automatically, rather than having to start them manually.
Wow. The update nuked some of the most important features. Have an engine alert? Good luck trying to find out what it is. Nevermind resetting the engine light after addressing the issue. I guess I might have to switch to Torque. :-(
UI had been very good, still is. However, functionality has always been "good enough". That being said, the new update has major Bluetooth issues. The request for logs, from users making reviews, indicate that insufficient UAT and Integration Testing was completed prior to roll-out. I'll try again in a few weeks. Update 4/23: Most recent updates have resolved issues I was experience. Thanks!
