(1) The built-in Spotify account sync has never worked for me. I've verified I'm using the right credentials and it fails every time. (2) Google is moving (or has moved) to YouTube Music, and the built-in Gmusic app no longer works for songs that aren't cached. (3) This setup costs enough money to work well, in my opinion, but it leaves a lot to be desired. The hardware and integration to the factory stereo seem fine. The app, however... is definitely a bottleneck. Last update was in January.
The app itself I have no issues with, the USBWirelinq cable is good, not great. I'm able to stream music and use other third party apps over my car's USB port, which was made for iPod. At times it gets frustrating when you restart your phone and the cable doesn't read your phone and you have to go through a bunch of motions to try to get it to read your phone.!
The App works mostly as advertised, the built in net radio gives access to hundredes of radio stations, the "where's my car" feature is very handy, and the large fonts make it easier to work your apps. The preset buttons for the apps are also a big plus. somewhat irritating is that the app sometimes stops working and claims that "there is no network"; at that point, I just go directly to my music apps. voice recognition is hit or miss. I'll just keep using google voice til it's fixed
Does a good job 85% of the time. On occasion it will not show the Spotify playlist, it starts up showing the root directory and its a hassle to get to the playlist section, the music is playing, but I don't know what playlist it belongs to. If I leave it alone, it'll eventually show the playlist a few minutes later. Sometimes takes 3 to 5 minutes to begin showing any info and for the music to play.
This app was previously in the 3-star range: clunky but got the job done. However, it is now useless to me. They haven't updated since last January, and since then Google Music has all been transferred to YouTube Music; the app has not been updated to accommodate YouTube Music as a plugin and the authors still haven't found a solution to Google disabling USB audio streaming. My Grom unit is now basically just a $350 USB charger since I can't play audio through it anymore. Very disappointing.
Functions ok but pretty barebones and not really worth paying for the upgrade. It could be an excellent app and would get the extra 3 stars if they added some extra controls and customizations to the settings; modify icons, labels, font and icon sizes, number of shortcuts per page, etc. The standard launcher options basically. Please guys? Pretty Please!?
PLEASE make the Spotify applet look and function more like spotify. I hate the "in your face/ huge font and buttons" car mode and would like it to have simpler navigation. Its not intuitive at all and some of the menus are redundant. app feels like navigating a labyrinth blindfolded due to the lack of information on the screen and deep menu trees.
I had a Moto G5+ with Android 8, and it worked well. Not a great app but adequate. I upgraded to a Moto G7+ with Android 9, and I find that USB streaming doesn't work anymore. Spotify, local, nothing. I just found out that Google is the culprit. Streaming via Bluetooth works, but of course it uses more battery. So the USB cable is good for charging only.
Great app; I use it on my motorcycle with touchscreen gloves. I wish it had one feature, though: media controls! It would be nice to be able to skip ahead, play, pause, rewind, and control volume from the main screen or a widget that's always visible.
Downloaded the app because my USB cable would not work in the car until I did. When I did, the app wouldnt let me leave to go to the homescreen or go to any other app, It kept popping back up. Also made it seem like I was unplugging and plugging in my phone, the "phone charging" notification kept getting in the way of figuring out whatever the app was doing. Overall, a poorly made app and wouldnt recommend
I log into my Spotify Premium account thru Facebook. The Spotify plugin within the Dashlinq app will not allow me to log in with my Facebook credentials and there is no option to log in with Facebook on the Spotify plugin. Other than that, the app works as it should. I've had the Wirelinq since February and the most recent update enabled cover art (finally); which is why I bought it to begin with. Overall, I'm happy with it. Once I'm able to use the Spotify plugin I will give it 4 stars. *Updated to 4 stars as promised! I am now able to use the Spotify plugin. Thanks GROM Audio!
It's a shame, this could be a great an simple car launcher. But it's missing some things. I can's choose what to have in the buttom menu, or which music player to use in the media screen? And I hate the fact, that shortcut squares not being used, has to look like unused space.
No randomization in songs when changing with radio/steering control, no audio streaming, can't connect to Spotify with Facebook, does not have Acast player as available apps, interface for songs/artists/playlist on both Spotify and local music is terrible, especially with a large number of songs. Did I mention no songs randomization when using radio control?
Sadly no longer works (and seems to no longer appear in play store searches) with recent Android phones. The 'back to dashlinq' overlay prevents you from clicking many areas of the screen, for example you can no longer share a drive in Waze or pause a song in Deezer
great product from GROM Audio . I can see my Android Samsung galaxy S7 on my SAAB 9-5 NG stereo . First, it didn't work straight away only for few minutes until I unplugged phone . Then I did remove app from phone and reinstalled it second time ... and it's working great . I can control phone music from steering wheel and / or from touch screen of car stereo. USB cable from GROM Audio is necessary to achieve this btw . very happy now . thanx
i understan that google disabled audio streaming and now we cant use externals apps but. you can do a better work with this app. for example: 1. why you have 3 pages even if we only have one plugin. 2. there should be an option to disable full screen mode, i have an galaxy s10 and is unconstable swipe from the botton to see the navigation bar buttons 3. an option to work in backgroup and not launch when connect the cable with a defult pluggin for example spotify, when i connect the phone to my vehicule i dont use the for to move between the song, i use the card stereo interface.
still no reply to my email. ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT NOBODY WILL RETURN REPLY TO ANY MESSAGE It was great at first, now it says I have to pay for the app after I bought the cable. They gotcha by the balls there. It worked ok for about 8 or 9 months app wont stop pestering me about buying it now it wont work at all. it shows what is playing and the sound will only play through the phones speaker its become an extreme inconvenience and huge headache. Not worth the frustration and aggravation.
Gets the job done that couldn't be done any other way (connect Android phone w music apps to non nav 2011 Infiniti G37). But the connection start always takes 5 or 6 times to get to work and interface is difficult to use for Spotify integration.
Won't work with poweramp v3 on S8. Keeps crashing everytime after hitting play on poweramp and switching back to dashlinq. Other than it not working with my favorite app everything else is outstanding. One of the best car home screen apps available.
it works in my 2013 Mini with Pixel 3, however be aware that no matter your car this app doesnt use your actual Spotify settings, meaning if you have a downloaded playlist it will still stream the song and use data! i found this out the hard way after i unknowingly used 1gb of data.
The app is so glitchy it's basically unusable. I can get two, maybe three songs through spotify out of it, before it starts erratically skipping songs and shutting down on me. More irritating than anything else.
Tried Wirelinq on Volvo V60 2018: 1. The cable should be connected to usb port but input must be selected iPod input on car stereo. 2. Only Dashlinq pluggins works here, no any 3rd party audio app (eg UsbAudioPlayerPro or Neutron music player) support. 3. No changes in audio quality between bluetooth or this usb cable. Dissapointed.
necessary evil. Needs a podcast app and the spotify app shuffle mode shuts off if you skip songs. Other than that it does its job. I preferred the remote, but it doesn't work in the 6t.
Constantly cutting out idk if it's the wirelinq itself or the app (only been using it for like 5 days) randomly during any song it will stop playing music and have these weird sounds of audio cutting in for half a second every 5 seconds or so. My car is a 2011 G37s sedan non nav and phone is LG -g7
So far so good, it will be awesome if the developer can integrate the ability to change the look, like the background for a more darker, but besides that it looks really good, nice job.
Since the latest update (posted on 16/01/20) this no longer works via wirelinq cable, the audio now plays from the phone speakers and reports that there no music stored in usb.. this has worked perfectly for well.over a year.
I asked this by email but have had no response: I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 with Android 9, and a 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta. I have read a lot of your comments about Android 9 having had usb streaming disabled, but you say the built-in plugins still work. Since I've never used Wirelinq before I'm not entirely sure what this means. Can I still stream from Spotify, but only using the Dashlinq app? And on older versions of Android would this have worked without Dashlinq?
Update: they discontinued updates and no longer works. Exactly what I needed for my android phone to work in my G37 for Spotify it works great. Wish all apps sound would work as Waze navigation shows but sound doesn't carry over. Same with Netflix and YouTube. Im guessing the plug-in has not yet been created for those.
