Not sure what happened, but in early May 2022, the app is now completely useless. I have been a long time user and very disappointed that nobody from Ascendo is responding. The Sync feature to Dropbox is broken, the sync via WiFi no longer works, and even a direct import of the .bak file does not work. So do not pay to upgrade. I tried this too, but still broken. Sadly, time to move on from DataVault....
Excellent app. Performs well in all it does. I currently also have the Android sync to Dropbox issue. I wrote to Support and got a reply within about 1 hour saying I need to upgrade to version 6.3.9 when it becomes available on the Google app store. I am looking forward to getting it and giving it a try.
Zero customer or technical support!! Avoid this app!! I have been using this app (paid version) for many years and I have been syncing it with Dropbox. Recently I started getting errors and it will not sync. I have sent numerous emails to support but they do not reply at all! I have tried resetting the Dropbox database but I still get errors. Save your $$ and don't risk losing your data because of this horrible company!!
Hi, Have been a Data Vault customer for years, with same datavault database on Windows, Android, and iOS devices. Was hit with the same Android DropBox sync issue that others have flagged. Received email on 5/13/22 from Ascendo saying that a new version fixing the issue would be issued very shortly. (FWIW, the WiFi sync between Android and Windows worked fine, but is not that easy to use.) With the Dropbox issue fixed, should be excellent again!
Beware! No support offered. I've been using Data Vault for a LONG time (about 8 years) and loved it as it worked flawlessly on multiple devices. On December 24th, Data Vault wouldn't open on my Windows PC. I tried everything: restarted PC, uninstalled Data Vault and tried to reinstall it. I keep getting error messages and I have sent 6 messages to support! The best "support" that they offer is turn of PC and restart. When I told them that I had already done it and to refer to previous email, they told me to uninstall it. Again, I referred them to previous email and now they are not replying to my emails! I hate the thought of not using Data Vault. I have highly recommended it to others, but can no longer do so. It still works fine on my Android but it is useless to me if I cannot use it on my PC. I guess I will have to find a substitute since Data Vault support cannot "support" their software.
Have written 4 emails about bug with note 10+, not able to see tree or list option. Not able to see were I'm syncing or where I'm backup. Only search option at top of screen. Someone responded and said it will be fix next release, I responded when next release will be deployed no response. I've had this app for 5 years I'm have to switch for lack of customer support.
I've used this app for many years. Now, $4.99/year subcription required, no side search bar and a $9.99 version? When switching from iPhone to Android phone, I expected to buy the the app for the Android. What I was surprised at was now having a subscription requirement in order to synchronize. Okay, it's only $4.99 a year, I can live with that and the app is worth it. But then when I get into the app, I find they have eliminated the alphabetical search bar on the right side - requiring TYPING to get to an entry - and I've got over 200 entries!! I don't want to scroll and I don't want to have to type letters to get through the items. Useless "upgrade" ...bring back the side search bar. Finally, what is the $9.99 version for? Is it different than this $4.99/year version? Does it have the side search bar?
I have had the iPhone version of the app for years. And along with a few warts (unable to add "meaningful" icons / issues with the fingerprint detection) It has become my goto password manager and a fairly reliable app. Unfortunately, I now have to change to a different app. I've purchased a new "android" phone and unfortunately, the fact I have an IOS version means nothing. Now, I either have to purchase the Android version for $12.99 or choose to pay a yearly subscription. I don't think this is fair. This, and the fact there has been no real improvement to the app for years tells me that perhaps its time to move on. I realize businesses have to make money, but I've already paid for the old... and there is no new for me....
I have had the DataVault application since my blackberry days. This is a must app for any device. It is every easy to use and customize to your specific needs. The app will generate passwords for you which is very useful in today's world. You can create your own folders and modify each template to your needs. I had a problem with transferring my data from my Note 9 to Note 10, however that has been corrected. I would recommend this app to secure all your passwords.
Been using a perpetual license version up until it became unusable because synchronizing with my saved datavault database in dropbox results in error. So i tried the subscription version, still the same error. Am now requesting a refund. Why would i pay for a product i cannot use?
After using this app for several years it will now not let me backup or restore. Very annoying as I have just changed phone and cannot restore all my info. Tried contacting but as others zero support. Now abandoned.
I've used the original version (not +) for years on multiple platforms successfully. However, recently after multiple updates the app keeps crashing on Android. So I've tried to install this version, but the installation via PlayStore failed miserably. What's going on? I can't keep relying on this application.
Very reliable. Would never remember all the sign-ins I have. I like that it works on all my devises. I can access, update and create new items anywhere on any device. Phenomenal password storage manager.
Quick way to store all my user IDs and passwords. Love that if I look at another screen, I have to re-enter my password to get back in. Can't accidentally be vulnerable. Make sure you back it up to sim card or something!
Excellent! Easy to use, great interface. Very customizable. Syncs between devices flawlessly. Very happy. Used free version for years and have been in the paid version for a while.
The apps menu disappeared so I am not able to access any menu options, but most importantly, not able to backup any of my information. I contacted customer support and they were ultimately of no help. Will not be renewing my subscription.
I'm a long time user of the Data Vault App on my Smart Phone and Desktop. Recently, I desired to transition my desktop version from an old computer to my newer one. I contacted Customer Service to inquire the cost and procedure of performing the task. I was grateful that I wasn't charged for the task, instead, i was given a new Registration Key and instructions on downloading the App to my Desktop. Thank you very much Liam, DataVault Rep!
I can't believe I paid for this app. Motorola one 5gw with 300mb dl ul and this app just freezes my Phone. Contacted developer and they are ghosts. Chinese software I WANT MY MONEY BACK!! THIS APP IS TRASH 0 ⭐
Love this app on both my PC and my phone. I have had it for years and Alex has never failed to help me when I lose my registration key when my PC crashed. I now have the correct key stored on both my PC and phone.
I've never had any problems with app and i use it daily. It's easy to use and to edit. I'm not a high tech user and dont profess to be but if you want something easy to use this is it.
I was using it for few years and was ok. But when I changed my cellphone and transferred all my apps this one lost all info in it!!!! I emailed twice the support team, nobody responded ever!
I'm sharing the same disappointment and usurped feeling towards the creators of this app. If you paid for an app WITHOUT SUBSCRPTION before, you guys can't simply disable the features of the app forcing people to buy this new version Datavault + because you realize that's not a profitable model.
Great password app. Easy to use with the desktop app to enter all your data and then syncs automatically. I love this app.
App is horribly unrealiable. This is the second time it lost my master password and fingerprint. and will not let me restore my files from neither dropbox nor my Sd.
Best and easiest password manager out there. Also has desktop app and can sync by WiFi with any device the portable version is on. 10/10
I've used Datavault for many years across several platforms and phone changes. Works flawlessly. Synchronizes through dropbox.
Pretentious, lame and in reality insecure. A password field inside of the database in fact is a text field (really?! ) - aggressive keyboards like SwiftKey and Touchpal will try to memorise the content. Can't import any other password manager content (no migration) . Anyway you decide but I will stick with Keepass
support horrible.they just direct you to instructions. i have had it on my mac for years the i purchased an Android Lg g7 thinkQ have the info and app all transfered cannot get it to auto fill my password. Googled it at least 10 times, support at Ascendo kept referring me to manual which doesnt even address this
I've used this App on both Android phone and Windows PC for over 10 years and been happy - has synced password additions and changes perfectly using Dropbox. However recently Dropbox Sync does not work and have received no feedback from emails to Support. I've also tried WiFi Sync but can't seem to get it to work. I'm in the process of converting to another password manager - a slow painful but very necessary process.
