Day One Journal

Love the app but the recent May update has sometimes not saved Entries or seemingly deleted them (pictures added that were taken with the in-app camera are unrecoverable). Hope the bugs get worked out! Also having multiple journals is one step harder to switch tags now (Edit / Metadata /tags) where in the old UI it was one tap. Anyway, I love the app and use it daily and will hope to see new releases soon!

The app is amazing, but the recent updates have CONSISTENTLY deleted several long posts that I've worked hard on. I spent hrs writing several posts, and when I leave the app or try to save, all my work is gone. Very frustrating. Loved the app until these new changes caused these issues. A journal is no good if the journal has pretty fonts and features but doesn't save your intellectual property.

Edit 14.05.22: android app is rubbish and won't let you do a simple thing such as rotate a photo. All my photos end up sideways or upside down. I'm paying for this app and I'm disappointed. Taking it down by 2 stars. This app is great, keeps this simple and does what it says on the tin. Much easier to keep a diary on a phone. Would love to be able to change fonts, go bold, italic etc i think that would help make it a more personal experience. Otherwise it's a superb app. 9/10

Use on Android tablet is disappointing. I can find no way to format text, to format spacing between paragraphs, to underline, nor have I found any worthwhile tutorials for Android version. I have read good things about the app, but am unwilling to spring for premium version unless can find some resolution to the difficulties. Link to "Our help guides and tutorials" leads to "Page not found."

Great journaling tool. I was a little skeptical at first but I really enjoy using it and have been capturing my memories almost daily before I go to sleep. It has replaced my paper journal. My only qaulm and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that I am a Premium user that uses 2 devices and the sync is very clunky. It doesn't always do it right away, so it is a bit annoying when I start and entry on one device and want to finish it on another device.

Overall a great app, there could be some minor tweaks like being able to make characters bold or italic, and adding more or unlimited pictures with the free plan, but beyond that it's a good journaling app and the option to add tags is practical. Maybe there could be a way to share entries with other Day One Journal users, or to share entries on social media. Otherwise, I would recommend this app to anyone who likes journaling.

Still the best app on the store... Buuut!!... I feel the Devs only ever work on the iOS versions and turn a blind eye to the Android version. The Android version of DayOne is slowly becoming inoperable, many, many bugs and inconsistencies. Missing photos, text in "list" view is missing, syncing issues, no encryption, unable to edit entry from one device to another, duplicate entries etc.

"start on one device, finish on another" feature. E.g. android phone + iPad, while on android phone trying to edit a post that's been touched on the ipad, gets error "this entry cannot be edited with this version of day one". The post also does not appear correctly, and you have to tap into the post to see the edits made on the iPad. But add a new post, and suddenly it's appearing correctly again. Sync does not work consistently. Seems buggy and problematic for cross platform / device use.

Great app! But what about the Chrome extension? "Update January 2021: We’ve removed support for the Day One Chrome extension and plan to re-introduce a new Chrome extension later this year. In the meantime we recommend using the Email to Journal feature to save content from the web to Day One." If you can't put out a new Chrome extension, please urgently make the old one available again! Alos, I wish Day One would only show one image tile per day when I have multiple pictures as it does in list view!

The app is good because I can format its content and presentation. I particularly like the ability to open sections to relate to different interests . Unfortunately, I cannot use it on my windows laptop because the app is in process of being developed. Neither will it run on my iPad 2 because it has been developed for iOS 14

If you're trying to use this across the apple-android divide, just forget it. Confusing logins with AppleID versus GoogleID. Easy to trip up and set-up different accounts, almost impossible to resolve that. Apple Music or Itunes or whatever it is now makes it almost impossible to find and edit your subscription. This app is the prime example of how these two companies are working to keep you in one ecosystem or the other - but never both. Nightmare.

Cross platform not yet ready. Journal entry on another device must have premium account to sync to more than one device, and the app cannot let you edit Journal that was created on another platform (ios/android). So I can't edit my journal entries that are created on my iPad using my android phone. You only have 7 day free trial so better delete everything (account and subscription) before uninstall.

It was working properly for a while..., but don't know what happened all of a sudden it stopped working. When ever I open the app it works for a while and then it gets stuck(UI doesn't respond anymore) So it gets closed automatically. So team please help in figuring out the issue.

Crashes too often to even write an entry, which is very frustrating. From the looks of other reviews, a lot of people have had the same issue - the app seems to have a problem with the Android keyboard, which obviously makes it useless as a journal.

I am happy to change the rating to five stars when: 1. we can add videos and documents into the entries. 2. we can sync with Windows or at least to Brave or other major web browsers, so that we can use it on laptops for longer entries. I understand you are working on improving features for the Android version. I want to encourage the team by subscribing to the yearly Premium version. Hope to see great improvements within the year. Thank you for making Day One.

I did use this on my iPhone and enjoy using it but now I've switched to android I can't sign in with my ID as it just shows a loading screen then starts all over again. I really hope to get help with this.

Integration with Apple products was strong. Integration with my Android phone wasn't quite as strong (eg, I had trouble using the text-to-journal function.) I started off using the free version, but I found enough value in it too pay for the premium.

Great for building the habit of journalling. I've kept the habit for a month now when I couldn't do so for 5 days in a row earlier. You can also attach photos which is great and I sometimes attach links to voice notes as well if I simply cannot find time to write that day. Thank you Day One! Great app!

Haven't been able to get into the app for 6 days. Crashes every time I try to open it. Contacted support and they said they were working on it but 2 days later and still nothing. Notes and photos all lost. Years of Journaling gone.

Finally a Journaling app that's simple and easy to use; also with upload/download options that make transferring data a cinch. Loads of other functions as well. Love it and thanks for Ver2!

Love how well it works on my apple devices but android is really lacking any kind of functionality. It's unfortunate the request to write a review came up just as I was experiencing the malfunctioning of the app. I believe they are working on it, but when will it be ready?! It's been 6 months already since if downloaded the app to my android and nothing works 😠 deeply disappointed. On a positive note you guys are doing amazingly on IOS 👍🏽5*

The app keeps crashing. While I'm writing it freezes then the app does a sudden close sometimes without saving what I just wrote. Really frustrating when writing then it freezes or shuts down.

I have used this app for several years and, for a while, had no complaints beyond the difficulty of transferring my account from an iPhone to an Android. But now, all I can do is complain. Ever since the last update, the app installed on my phone keeps crashing. I can't write a cohesive thought without it crashing halfway through. And every time I hit "sync now", nothing changes about the sync time. I feel like I'm losing my thoughts while also losing my mind! Please fix this issue!

I've been using Day One Classic for nearly ten years and have only now gotten the latest version. I love how I can log in entries across all my devices, and what a huge improvement that I can attach more than one photo to an entry - this helps me file and store photos of handwritten pages. Sometimes I find the multimedia and viewing options a bit too busy, because my preference is to prioritize written material. But overall I'm really glad to have updated my journal!
