DBT Selfhelp & Diary Card

The DBT Selfhelp & Diary Card app teaches you skills that help you manage overwhelming emotions, break destructive behaviors, develop healthy relationships, be more focused in the present moment and increase your quality of life.
The inability to accept and cope with emotions is at the core of most destructive behaviors, so by training skills that help you manage these emotions instead of acting on them you can avoid both the negative consequences of your behavior and also reduce the emotional suffering.

The app contains detailed descriptions, practice tips and rationale based on the skills used in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which has proven to be very effective in helping people with various difficulties – in particular due to its focus on learning effective skills. The skills are divided into six modules: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Skills, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, Validation, and Problem Solving. The app’s functions are designed to strengthen learning of and increase accessibility to the skills, thereby assisting the development of effective behaviors.

Each skills module provides several practice exercises where you can document when you practice or use specific skills in different situations.

The Diary Card allows you to monitor your target behaviors, your emotions and also the skills you train or use on a daily basis. This will give you a deeper understanding of the patterns in your emotions and behaviors as well as the progress you make as you practice and use the skills in your life.

Features:
- User friendly interface
- Comprehensive theory and rationale that teaches you about emotions, relationships, behaviors and how you can affect these.
- Ability to practice and use skills from the areas of Mindfulness, Interpersonal effectiveness, Emotion regulation,
- -Validation, Problem solving and Distress tolerance.

I don't really like it. I would like to see the results of my diary card all in one place. As it is you have to open up each category separately- emotion, behavior, and skills. And open up each subcategory separately. I would also like to see the definitions of terms as I am filling it out.

As of 12/12/2020 the app is built for an out-of-date version of Android and does not work correctly. The version I use is Android 11, so I can't use the app.

For traditional DBT diary card spot on! It takes a little bit of getting used to, but the closest Android version I found to the original DBT diary card.

I wish there was an option to customize the options to select from as far as behaviors.

Am studying DBT...I like the app though it is very basic. I would suggest the developer look over the diary cards, as Behaviours and Skills are missing core concepts, and doubling up on others (typos I think?)

I like the app. I find it every helpful and simple to us. Very relevant to the goal of being more in control of myself.

If you are using this in conjunction with DBT therapy, using the latest book from Marsha - BEWARE! This app is outdated and unusable.

That's the main reason I needed it and now it doesn't work

I'd really like the ability to go back and fill in diary cards. Right now if you miss a day it had an angry red "1MISSED DAY."

As soon as I can print out diary cards, I'll give it 5 stars.

I'd like the ability to sync across multiple devices. Possibly add a login option.

Unsatisfactory app, and there was no option for a refund. Buyer beware.
