DCentral 1 by John McAfee

Freedom through Awareness: Control your privacy, know your Apps.
DCentral1, by John McAfee, is a free to download application for Android mobile phone, tablets and devices. It aims to protect devices by empowering the user to be more fully aware of certain permissions that installed applications have been granted on the device, knowingly or not.

The application scores each potentially revealing or privacy-threatening permission granted to applications, and gives a tabulated score for each user installed application on the device. DCentral1 also has a pro-active feature, where users can indicate specific permissions to be warned and alerted to, when any newly installed applications are added to the device. Applications may be marked as trusted, or easily un-installed from within DCentral1.

It does what it says but for some reason based on the hype of Cognizant, I thought it was going to tell me when the apps were actually using the permissions. All the information this app gives can be found under apps settings and clicking on each permission you're unsure of.. so since it wasn't what I thought it was but does what they say it will, 5 stars and uninstalling.

Allows you to see which permission each app is requesting in real time and decide whether or not you want to allow them. Will catch all those sneaky apps that constantly copy and steal your contacts, surfing habits and any other info they think is valuable! Thanks to John McAfee, you DON'T have to put up with them any more!

Simple and utile, zero learning curve. I always read permission list while installing, but this gives me quick overview including pre-installed junkware (low on T-Mobile, but still annoying). PLUS, John McAfee is a privacy ideologue-hero, one of the most trusted names on the Internet.

This app is infinitely useful and I feel safer having installed it. However, small issue when viewing permissions that apps have and that's that I cannot scroll to see beyond first three permissions on any list. Other than that, fantastic app and I don't know why there aren't more than 10,000 downloads of it.

App permissions are interesting. Yes, not all apps will be accessing your private information, however for any of them to be able to access my private details etc is crazy! I have nothingto hide but that does not mean iwant people on a random computer somewhere to be able to make calls or send texts as if they are me.........

What a great app. When I was online the other day and it notified me there was a problem. I opened the app and low and behold it told me I was soon to be beaten by my dad with the belt like usual. It's really a useful app. I sleep much better knowing when an apps trying to get sneeky it'll notify me.

I'm giving this 5 stars right from go for designing software that's geared toward a more appropriate future. If we dont protect our freedoms, America's gonna become land of the fee, home of the slave with big brother watching your every move! Yikes! This app also watches the auto updating apps and flags you when they update behind your back. DCentral1 rocks!!.

This is a Key moment in history. This App is a stepping stone to learn that we are being spied on by all the corporations that own us. YOU ARE ALL PAUL REVERE! Thanks John - you are awesome. I want to call Chase bank and ask them if I can see the video I authorized them to take. Hey lets all call..send a message...don't take the bs peace & liberty to all you heathen Americans!

When doing anything else on my phone, the app comes up with the options to trust it or uninstall at random and it's rather irritating because you can't close it out without exiting out what you are doing.

As a long time admirer of the amazing and super talented Mr. John McAfee, and a developer myself, I had to download this to test my App. My App is the popular voice Note Taking App called "EZ Notes." I am pleased his App indicates that "EZ Notes" is very privacy oriented and dovetails nicely with his own privacy oriented technologies. "EZ Notes" is also many times slimmer and more resource efficient than mainstream memo Apps. I hope those reading this will support "EZ Notes" by Alexander Madani

I love the app, I just wish I was able to scroll through the individual app reports. At present I can only read the top two or three permissions for each app. If this were fixed it would be give stars from me.

It won't even scan just crashing all the time. I had very high hopes for this app. Something from John McAfee. Hopefully it gets fixed.

This app, without notice or discoverable config option, installs itself as gatekeeper for all future app updates. I don't care how valuable such a feature may be, arrogating itself the power without consent is abusive.

Wonderfull app. I've lost count of how many apps this software catches trying to request unlisted permissions. Thank you John McAfee.

Gives you more detail about app control over your devices. Also gives you some control over rating these issues and. what to alert you about for these privacy issues.

I am uninstalling this as it has cut in to ask permission for apps causing the app I have running to reload and anything I was doing I have to do over. Irratating atcthe least, caused me to redo stuff more then a few times.

Jus. S. Jul 23, 2017

Definitely would like to see something like this that notifies when a device's features are being used, like McAfee has described in interviews. In all, a good app.

A. G. u. Aug 4, 2017

I'm certain it's brilliant but it fails to tell laypeople like me what to do with the scores and info, which I truly would appreciate. Thanks.

Full marks for such a great app,as soon as I download an app this app immediately let's me know what permissions are required for app in question.most apps want tell you some of their permissions but, this app takes care of that.

No unnecessary permissions, full disclosure on other apps. This app works and is one that helps construct a better future. Get it.

Fantastic little app :) have a look on The Alex jones channel on youtube type in john McAfee there is a fantastic video explains it far better on how it works.

Ton. B. Aug 31, 2014

It rated Meraki system manager low (look it up). I can issue a full system reset from meraki because the app is set as a device administrator. just showing the risk based on app permissions isnt the entire security picture. This app can give people a false sense of security.

Helps to remind you what you have already agreed to, but didn't understand the danger.
