DCSS Online

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is an open-source, single-player, role-playing roguelike game of exploration and treasure-hunting in dungeons filled with dangerous and unfriendly monsters in a quest to rescue the mystifyingly fabulous Orb of Zot.
Online play is available on a handful of different WebTiles servers. Due to the way input works on Android keyboards, playing on one of these servers was impossible
- until now!

DCSS Online acts as a middleman to pass along your input from your Android device to the WebTiles interface. Because of the large number of keybindings required to play, we recommend using Hacker's Keyboard, also available on Google Play.

This is an unofficial app and we aren't affiliated with the original DCSS developers. This was made because we wanted to be able to play DCSS online on Android but couldn't, and now we're sharing it with you!

There are NO IAPs or ads
- it's totally free!

Great way to get my DCSS fix on mobile. The customizable semitransparent keyboard was very useful. DCSS was obviously not designed with mobile in mind, but this is the best way to play if you choose to use a phone instead of PC.

better to play on laptop bc you don't need to download the keyboard. the controls are difficult to learn but easy to get used to.

Needs work. I downloaded the keyboard you were too busy to incorporate into the game and now id like to try the game but cannot register because the interface is off screen.

I love DCSS, and although it is not as good as playing on the computer, it is awesome that at least it is possible. Nice work guys!

Completely agree with other reviewers. No point if it requires internet access. Just use a browser. That and the developer response is douchey.

For anyone complaining about the needing to turn the phone.. tap the dial icon on the bottom left and check your settings.

You have to install a new keyboard just to play the game. Reeks of a scam. No thanks.

The game is great. But this is a very terrible way to play it.

Started my current run as a Merfolk gladiator with a trident. Then i met Yredelemnul. Now i command legions of undead in his glory. Including a zombie 7-headed hydra a zombie spriggan druid and a zombie sprigan knight that was rideing a hornet while wielding a lance. And some zombie giant frogs and skeletons. I am lvl 14 and i feel like i just scratching the surface... Great game!

Almost, almost flawless playing with a tablet and bluetooth keyboard. Only problem I had was when trying to enter free text (i.e. Ctrl-F to search, Shift-G to go to a branch and it asking for a specific level, annotations), where it refuses to accept text, but won't go away from the free text box, meaning you have to reload the server to get back to the game. Still, managed to eke out a win in the current tournament while travelling with this, so I'm grateful for that :)

I can get into the server to select a game version / make an account, but the game itself never loads further than the loading screen with monster picture. Tried on many different servers. This is a good game on PC though! Very addicted so it's a shame this isn't working for me.

You've got to install a custom keyboard & set as default to play, and the interface is still a hassle.

Doesn't tell you much of anything. Says install keyboard. Select server. Have fun. How am I supposed to have fun if there are no control instructions, like I can't pick stuff up because apparently I don't know the button

They should probably clarify that this is only really playable on TABLETS, not smart phones. You have to turn the phone sideways to make the arrow keys appear, and that makes the game disappear completely as it gets blocked by the text box.

My game freezes and becomes unresponsive after a few turns. It could be the low bandwidth of my current connection, so I need a version that doesn't require internet.

Fantastic port of a classic roguelike. Be sure to run the tutorials if new to it. A bit of a learning curve at first, nothing major, but lots of fun.

Everything is great so far, although I would like to suggest an offline version of this. It would help people with slow internet that makes the controls unresponsive and slow. Edit : nvm found an offline version, tho i was referring to the tiled version earlier

The keyboard that the game instructs you to download completely obstructs the game when I turn my phone sideways. I have no arrow keys when my phone is upright. It's payable, but not comfortably.

BRO. May 15, 2017

NEEDS a push on those servers but worth the gameplay! It would be great if arrows keys were used for movement. And simple commands also!

Please add the fullscreen mode ( hiding status bar and that menu bar)

I'm having trouble deciding if some of these, nay-saying, other reviewers are just bored trolls; or legitimately have brain damage... To even want to play a game of this nature requires a certain knowledge of these types of games. Anyone finding the input limitations or requirements difficult should just eat their phone. As I can assume any technology is infinitely more complicated than they can ever possibly comprehend. Straws must seem like wizardry to them.
