I've lost my voice multiple times this year for different reasons, and this app has been a life saver. I've been able to keep working, see doctors, and communicate with family members during the holidays. I honestly do not know what other options are out there, but this app has been incredibly powerful for my needs and is beautiful in its simplicity. Note: I have not lost my hearing during any of these times, so I have not used the speech-to-text functionality. I've only used this app for its text-to-speech functionality and its large-font, big-screen typing so that people would not need to read tiny fonts in a notepad app. These features have been especially life-saving since I work construction. The sun's glare makes reading any screen incredibly difficult for English-speakers. And many of the workers on my sites speak little English and read less English, so I'd still be out of work without the user-friendly text-to-speech.
I like the product a good deal but it jumps around from portrait to landscape to Portrait and I have to cycle through a lot of stupid buttons to get back to the way it was. So usability is only a C+. What's his product desperately needs is a lock position slider that will maintain the position of the screen despite any Android setting or other Movement. I've tried to adjust the buttons but when you're using a hand-held you do tend to make gestures or lean in when speaking. Add a lock feature.
I drive for deaf students. This will help a lot. But, I'm having an issue where everything I say is repeated twice in the text. This will confuse my student. Any suggestions? Otherwise, this would be perfect. Will give 5 star rating if this text doubling can be fixed.
Works great until I use the microphone which crashes the app, shame as could be useful.
This has become my go to trusted companion. I tried quite a few apps for communicating with my sidekick (both of us are hard of hearing). This one is very simple and effective. I even put future messages in the add folder for upcoming appts and questions I otherwise would forget. Only thing I requested was a speech function. THEY JUST ADDED IT. SO COOL. THANK YOU!
It worked fine until today. My CLEAR button has disappeared. Where is it? It's VERY useful! UPDATE: Thank you your quick response and I find the new X easy to use now that I know what it is. It strikes me that using an X as a CLEAR button is not really very intuitive and the letters CLR might be more obvious. If made smallish, they wouldn't take up any more space. Your app has been very useful for talking to my deaf mother over our Amazon Echos. Thanks.
Let's me display text in full screen, as large as possible, without having to manually size the text. Opens quick, works quick.
(Edit) the app works wonderfully now, I can just type out or say what I want to and just show it to my mother and she can read it clearly, I greatly appreciate the update to the app, this makes it much easier to communicate with her.
this app comes across as mediocre at best. It should honestly give me options for someone that's dead or HOH. Sometimes the right words escape us, and it might be helpful to have some suggestions to choose from. There aren't many colors to choose from either. Please see if you could make a few tweaks to this and please give it some serious thought and consideration. I'm sure that I'm not the only person thinking this way. I'm probably just the only one that spoke up about it.
Edit: developer responded very quickly and figured out the issue. I'm enjoying the app again. Thanks! Old review: No longer responsive - I got the new Fold 3 and this app doesn't work on it. Looks to be frozen, can't type or anything.
So far so good! It seems to work really well for me. Will test with others soon. I stopped the beep sound by long-pressing the microphone button, ticking the "Mute beep sound" box.
Hello. I recommend this for my wife is deaf also she use this app is lot a better and communicate with those who people around with her. She make feel happy. Thank you so much for appreciate.
Great app. Liking it. Though it would be nice if you could add Portuguese language as well. I live in Brazil so. Portuguese language would be nice.
So far, my fav note for hearing use. Elegantly simple UI. No problem running on Pixel 5. I wish the interface can be scaled larger for fat fingers.
Was ok for a while but lately it keeps crashing and the app closes. Not good when I'm trying to get what someone is saying. Will have to find a new app now.
This app is, literally, exactly what I needed. I just got my tonsils removed and it hurts so bad to talk to people, but I'm one of those people that always has something to say. Take that how you will. Haha It's basic, but perfect. I recommend it to "deafies". Not sure if the name is off-putting to people, but I think it's clever and love it. Worth the download just to have it. You'll need it at some point, I almost guarantee this.
I love this app. It works beautifully. Thank you developer. It is a Godsend for the deaf.
I downloaded this for my dad who is now mostly deaf when I had to bring him to the ER and he wasn't sure what anyone was saying. It worked 30% of the time which was very frustrating and stressful. Develop a USEFUL app that will not only help people but possibly save their lives.
Rubbish ..it is not speech to text app..just a note app to type on to communicate with someone like you do with paper and pen..no there is no mircophone icon showing up on this app.. Probably my phone doesnt work with this app
So clever!! I can hold my phone normally to speak, and my friend can read it from her position!! I love this!!! Thank you to the developer for a great way to communicate with my friend!!
Works amazing. I work in retail, and this is fantastic to have when you need to communicate with someone hard of hearing, especially with masks now.
It works great. I'm having an issue witb swear words being censored but I think thats the built in voice to text on the phone I have to figure out.
I downloaded this app and now there's thing named Ryuk asking me for apples in ASL.
My initial use of this app suggests that it is perfect for what I need.
It doesn't pick up on everything
chiming constantly as it completes voice to text makes it annoying to some and unusable to me
useful whenever I can talk with this mobile without flip all time.
It's awful it hears like I do and I'm deaf
I see no options for other languages. I saw in the comments that this app supports Russian language - where the hell are options? English isn't the only language in the effin' world!
Have full mutism and this made life easier. Large text makes it easier to show people what I say without them having to grab the phone to see the text. Text can be displayed upsidedown to simply hold your phone horizontally, instead of having to turn the screen fully away from you to communicate. Color options also available for text and interface. Great for those with hearing or speech difficulties.
