Worked well for me last year. After a recent update, all previous history was deleted and I can no longer save videos with the data overlay. When using the video feature, after pressing "stop", there is a progress indicator (spinning black pie shaped thing) that never stops and the video never saves. This app was really useful before. Now, not so much. The stars because of the calibration and the flexibility to log different weighted measurements. But the data save is clunky now and not easy.
I've only just started using this app so I'll not offer any particular comment other than to say I'm enjoying the easy to use interface and functionality. I've tried it on two different Samsung Galaxy tablets (Android 7.0 and 8.0) and on two chinese smartphones and for some strange reason the app does not register any sound on the Xiaomi RedMi 4x (Android 7.1.2) and yes, I have checked that all permissions are enabled. I've emailed the developer about the issue and await a response. Using the RedMi 4x as a signal generator, the 3 working devices gave extremely accurate frequency readings but as you'd expect, the decibel levels varied due to the different microphone characteristics. Apart from the RedMi 4x issue, I'm happy to give 4 stars for the moment.
On saved data cannot open each chart. Can not go to point on graph and see reading at that point. They can not be expanded or enlarged to actually see any saved data. Paid for and feel I wasted $, looked good in store but after getting data it is useless. Only good for momentary levels and you must be looking at it, after you look away no way of seeing earlier readings, only a small fuzzy graph with no way of selecting points for data.
Interesting app, mostly works. Cool visual interface, easy to use and still have plenty of deep configuration options. Needs calibrated to your specific phone. Photos with dB overlay are dodgy at best, but a cool feature. I look forward to continuing updates and development.
I used to give 5 stars but every time there is an update my stored files get wiped out. Also since the graphs were changed to have dots, the response has changed, its less sensitive. Developer never replies to any correspondence. Very disappointed by the last several releases.
I would have rated this App 5 stars, but it seems to be calibrated more for an I phone. In order to get accurate readings I have to subtract 20d Bin the calibration settings (-22 to -25 would probably be better, but it only goes to -20). I need to take my Samsung Galaxy S5 w/App to an audiologist and have it calibrated. I will update this review when I do. I got the Pro version BTW, and everything else is wonderful, needs a good manual for downloading!
It works well. And the purchase stays with you, through multiple devices. I was pissed when it wouldn't work with the phone I had a while back. Now I downloaded the app with a new phone, and it still has what I paid for. Awesome.
It's great and since I can hear odd frequencies for whatever reason, it helped me prove I wasn't crazy! I bought the PRO version. It's a really cool app. Disclaimer: I'm not a sound expert or Audiologist.
I got this app to test the sound difference an HPX would make on a 7.3 diesel before and after install. I havent had a chance to make the video, but I bought the app due to how responsive, robust, and frankly, how fun it is. Its the little things I guess. Worth it.
Looks like a good app but the android version is several releases behind the i-phone version. Hard for sound team to be consistent when three results from the different versions are so different.
Much better than others I have tried. Resetting fast and all is simple. Ha many features I have not yet tried, such as the camera, but think it is a valuable feature.
This is the best SPL app for android. I checked the calibration for my phone using a Galaxy Check Mate pro sound meter and it was pretty spot on at low volume. While no phone app will replace a real SPL meter for professional measurements, this works very well for on the fly guesstimates when no dedicated meter is available.
Thanks to this app I can do my voice exercises and gauge my improvement. Was losing my voice due to Parkinson's disease. My voice therapy specialist checked its accuracy and said it is good. I'm definitely satisfied.
It doesn't work on my Moto G5 plus. The app sits there but no sound is recorded. everything is turned on. Restarted the phone a few times, still doesn't work. No feed back from supplier either, so that was money down the drain.
I hope the UI becomes more customizable in the future, I'd like to remove/hide the top bar, other than that it looks pretty sleek.
Very inaccurate. Calibrated to my external meter, the responce times are not changing between A,B and C and is always showing at least 10dB above what my meter shows. Do not waste your money
It works very well on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra after a simple calibration with a SPL meter. My S21 Ultra was affected by bug after an update but the developer fixed it very quickly.
I just tested to see how well it works and it is reading at 80 to 90 dB on my system and I know just with the radio shack tester I have it is plus 130. I am going to contact there support to see if maybe I have a bad setting.
Excellent. Really love the camera function. I can show to my client where the test has taken place and the test results also accurate.
Very easy to interpret . Nice features with help description of each in the selection of a particular mode or functions.
Great app. Multiple views of sound source. Plus it seems to be automatically calibrated for YOUR phone, so excellent!
Haven't had a chance to compare it to an actual SPL meter but had both slow and fast headings and multiple different weightings.
Great tool for checking levels at concerts and other areas . Calibration seems better for my pixel2 than other apps.
CSV-Export does not work for me. Exported ZIP is always empty. Stick to the non-pro version as this feature does not work.
Fun app. I would give 5 stars if I could (1) remove the header showing text (2) select only one meter/display to show, and (3) edit colors used in display.
Excellent, I tried a lot of different apps and found THIS, the real thing . I bought it also from Apple store a year ago and I'm glad it is available for Android, thumbs up for developer 👍.
Installed in a Pixel 4a. Recently after closing the app there is an icon in my notification bar and a green light next to the time readout on the same bar. If I let this persist then the battery drains very rapidly and the phone gets warm to the touch. The only way I have found to stop this is to force stop the app. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Help.
