Please note that the Definitive app is companion software to the Definitive Technology Wireless Collection, and other products enabled with Play-Fi technology. It is not intended as a stand-alone audio player.

Everything was working fine...after the update I can select "line in". It tells me no device connected is compatible with that feature....it was literally working just fine before this stupid update. Why I bought an expensive amp with no physical controls on it and 100% dependant on this app is beyond me. Never again..stay away from Definitive. Return it if you are here because of setting up for the 1st time.
Glitchy programming. Had 2 Def-Tech W Studio’s but upgraded to a full entertainment system in the living room because playing music through the unit is not enjoyable at all. Two updates ago, the system worked great and sounded like the quality Def-Tech is known to produce and that was because the unit was only using the left and right channel when on Play-Fi. All 3 channels sound amazing when watching movies but the center should never be on when playing music. Play-Fi should just be 2 channels.
This app is absolute GARBAGE. If you are considering using this RRUUN! This is supposed to be a high end item but it fails every single time, the app has been updated several times but it is still GARBAGE .. drops signal nonstop. The worst part is that this is NOT new technology, all if DT competitors have already figured out how to make this work ... years ago! If I was DT I would drop it completely instead of embarrassing myself
This is really great for me. I've been buying DTS speakers off of eBay for 30.00 or less because people are calling them junk and just want to get rid of them. Forget about the music for a sec and just think about your data network, if it is not solid this will not work for you. The system needs to be setup on 5ghz and not 2.4ghz. Put all your devices ,computer, printers etc on the 2 4 and put the amp and the speakers on 5ghz, It's not the app, I have 14 speakers working beautifully with no amp.
The app requires you to upgrade your speakers before you can do anything but the app it wants to find doesn't exist so you can't actually do anything with this app. Also the website it takes you to to register doesn't exist. I love my soundbar but this app is just a disaster.
Works okay but sometimes has trouble finding the device after unplugging and moving speaker for a while. Wish it allowed access to third party music services though. At least it's more reliable than their desktop application.
UPDATE: Managed to connect with an iPhone. You should de-list this app until setup actually works. Don't advertise it as Android compatible if it's not. -- Have spent over an hour trying to set up my W Adapt. This app is no help. No technology should be this hard.
App hangs on trying to download a firmware update. Researched Definitive support and they recommended using the Definitive utility app to update firmware. I was able to successfully update firmware with utility app and verified update was installed successfully. Went back into this app and it still hangs on trying to download firmware. Not able to stream music :-(.
Horrible. Its almost impossible to connect soundbar to the app in order to stream music. This is the most laggiest system/app I have ever experienced. Any alternative apps to download thats not definitve?
I'M NOW HAVE MY 2ND REMOTE AND IT NO LONGER FUNCTIONS AT ALL. THE REMOTE CONTROLLER FOR THESE SOUND BAR UNITS ARE TERRIBLE. LIFE EXPECTANCY ON THE REMOTE CONTROL UNITS ARE 8 MONTHS EACH AT BEST. DUE TO THIS..THE NEXT SOUND BAR SYSTEM WILL NOT BE A DEFINITIVE SYSTEM !!!
Definitive Technology continutes to sell Wirelss products that need this app, but also need the Definitive Utility app for upgrades. The Definitive Utility Aapp is no longer listed i Google Play. So, no upgrades even though Definitive products alert users that upgrades are needed for functionality.
Won't play amazon prime after phone was updated. (Galaxy S21) Now my deftech speakers that I paid thousands for are pretty much useless to me. *Please remove last update so we can use our speakers **Please update app and give feedback
After firmware update 2.060, play-fi can no longer detect w studio micro as master to set up dts surround anymore. Wireless still works, but keeps saying master speaker not detected even though i can wirelessly line-in with it.
Takes forever to find a player on the network --- even one that it's used before. Faster to use a different app with uPnP support. Can't you just remember the IP address, Definitive?
Sometimes works great. Other times terrible. Terrible connectivity. Crashes every time after I play one song in the music player.
Terrible app... barely works, never can connect to Tidal or Spotify on my tv... ALWAYS ISSUES
Give the Phorus app a try instead of the Definitive Technology app. Both apps have the same functionality. I stumbled setting up the Definitive Technology sound bar using the Definitive Technology app. I read on the Internet that the Phorus app seems to work better. Once I got the sound bar up and running with the Phorus app, I am able to use both the Phorus app and the Definitive Technology app to play music on the sound bar.
constantly loses signal even though the wifi indicator light on the speaker shows it is connected. why no bluetooth connectivity?!
Worse thing I have ever come across in years!!! Garbage, I try for over an hour and it still couldn't connect to my home internet. It's true. RUN,RUN RUN FROM THIS PRODUCT!!
My speaker suddenly stopped working, not connecting to any wifi. I've reached out for support and received no answer. Now I have an expensive paperweight
Didn't way more time updating my hardware then I should have had to, not intuitive at all and infuriating to operate.
Not user friendly at all. I wished I didn't have to spebd 2 days to reconfigure speaker sets as often. Aggravating .
Used to work fine. Now it won't launch Amazon Music. App just crashes.
Why don't you developers try this crappy app in your own home? It's already 2020 and I still need to try so hard just to connect speaker to WiFi. I mean seriously, tell me the person who worked on this App got fired already.

Probably the worst app I have used to date. For the price of the brand and the level of quality one would expect from the company, this could not be any more of a let down. Wireless signal drops EVERYTIME I use the app. Connectivity is not only a hassle but adjustments are limited. Constantly having to "learn" and "unlearn" speakers for surround sound vs streaming music...pathetic. The inability to not directly connect my phone's audio via bluetooth is both outdated and inexcusable. DISSATISFIED
