Denkzettel for .txt-notes
Denkzettel itself has no built-in synchronization, only here set the path to the *.txt files, eg on the SD card. Any application can thus be used for synchronization, eg FolderSync (also supports WebDAV).
Free, no ads, no unnecessary permissions.

This app is abandoned and has not been updated since 2016. It's not bad as it is, but it does have a few bugs which will never be fixed. Personally, I have moved on to another txt/md editor.
I especially like how I easyly connected it with Resilio Sync. I highly recommend both apps

Easy to use and saves the notes as text
This was my favourite notes app, really simple, check-lists, clean design. However it has not been updated to keep up with changes to Android, specifically changes with permissions to allow data to be saved to SD cards. That and other niggles with the setting of notes folder mean I am looking for an alternative, but will leave it installed in the hope that I see an update that addresses these issues and I can return to give it the 5 star review it would otherwise have obtained.

perfect, somehow the only app on the store that stores your notes as plaintext wherever you want. only thing missing is a dark theme
I found some issues: 1. I clicked save then the note disappeared. 2. At first the note without title and it was stored. Later, I added the title and click save, then the note dissapear. Please fix.
I was looking for a note taking app that does *not* require a cloud service. This seems to fit perfectly. It also doubles as a multi checklist. I wrote my own desktop companion program (Denkzettel Companion) and sync my notes with SyncThing.

Currently, checklists cannot be sorted. Adding this feature would round off this otherwise perfect app well deserving a 5th star!
The ability to sync with owncloud is a great +. Unfortunately, there is no widget... I would pay for such improvement since there is no app which allow both webdav/owncloud and widget on the play store... My 2 cents.

Amazing app, love everything about it, except one minor issue. I seem to have issues when I: create a new note, change it to a checklist, set a color, add some items, and then hit back. The note will be saved with the filename but will not be a checklist and will be blank! I am able to reproduce each time. But if I don't set a color, the note seems to work just fine.
Very well done app, I love it. One of my main go to note app's. I have four requests: 1. Can you make the font size adjustable 2. Can you offer the option to sort ascending and descending 3. Ability to adjust the date and time 4. The ability to add images I love this app, and the fact that it's in plain text format is wonderful. Oh yes and no internet permission, nice. Regards, Darren
Nice, clean and simple to use note taking app. But due to lollipop's restrictions, it is currently not possible to write to an external SD card. Would love to see that fixed.
One missing feature is checklist reordering. Otherwise minimal but well thought out app.
But it needs some tweaking with UI and dealing with folders should be easier.
Pretty awesome app! I use Syncthing to sync the folder with my main PC. Is there some documentation on the file naming format? It seems a bit odd. Cheers!
This app is the only one suited for the use with webdav note sync. If it just had WIDGETS there would be no need for any other notes app ever again. Its on the "todo" list for quite some time now, i feel like i have to let the dev know that there are quite a few people waiting for this feature! I would give 10/5 stars if it just had widgets
The previous version was better because it identified phone numbers and email ids and mark it blue, which is not happening in current version.
... I have a wish list to improve it even further... - When note becomes long enough, onscreen keyboard covers note and doesn't allow scrolling to view where curser typing. Basically keyboard covers note with no scrolling or scrolling to focus curser. - Also creating sub folders is great. Is there a way to rename them too? Thanks for the great note app. I use it so I can sync to owncloud. Thanks for the great app development.
With one bug. If a note has a number in it, it becomes impossible to insert the cursor anywhere else in that note, or do anything other than copy the number. Perhaps this was well-meaning, but it is a real problem.
The best and simplest note taking and check list app. Exactly what I wanted. Directly saves my notes and todo lists in phone memory as text file. I can access them, move theme to PC or anywhere and edit them in any text editor. No hassle. The app is also looking good. This app is not so popular that's why I thought I should review it. More people should try this app.
