Worked great for years. This week it stopped working. Like other posts, I have removed and installed several times over several days including today. Very disappointing to see the support team respond that all is fixed when it is not. Jan 27, 2021 Update, after a few weeks, tried it again and it is working fine. Which is how it worked for several years.
While the app works fine on my tablet, the actual news has been eliminated. Just a bunch of sensational and in depth stories. I really miss the old paper format that had all kinds of news. No real US and local news, no comics, no obits, little sports. I will likely let my subscription lapse.
I actually enjoy this app because the writers at Deseret News are so good and the app is very easy to navigate. My only problem is that the Mr. Mac ads cover parts of the articles. I would really appreciate it if someone at Deseret News could fix this. Thank you!
I have enjoyed this app for a few years. This week however, it won't open up. I get an immediate pop up, stating it stopped working and needs to close. I have tried everything, but can't get to work. I would give 5 stars for the years it worked, now it is only a 2. I gave to read online without app.
New update, ads are displayed over the text. Also, latest only shows the last 20 or so stories, making it hard to find news stories from the day before. No way to see archived stories
Finding earlier stories from previous days by scrolling down the home page I found, surprisingly, better than every other news site. Just leave articles all up for the public to read conveniently... at a later time. Good reporting shouldn't be just thrown away like expired bakery products. Many stories endure in value long after a day or two. Thank you.
Even in the short time I've had the app, I've noticed the stories leaning more and more towards a left-wing bias. I thought I could trust Deseret News to bring me decent, unbiased local news but, once again, I've been let down by another local news firm. What a shame.
I used to love this app, but the new upgrade and format is difficult to navigate. It is especially challenging to find stories featured more than 24 hours ago.
So few articles. There used to be an unlimited number of stories to read but the new app only gives you ten articles. Where are the rest of the news stories? I am now adding to my review: Now ads pop up on top of the stories so you cant read them. Still giving it only 1 star.
Love the news content, but I don't see a search feature or a way to sign in and comment on articles. Add those features and I would give 5 stars.
I travel all over the country and keep seeing this in peoples front room / living rooms! Why? These people have never even lived in Utah! Is it because of the quality, variety and news worthy stories they print? I ought to ask - but it is a curiosity to me - so I subscribed to the app to find out!
Just attempted to install the Deseret News app. The app immediately crashes when attempting to open it. Garbage application! Don't waste your time.
For this twenty years have I held Deseret News in very high esteem and wouldn't mind doing same for the umpteenth time. Still one of the very best and won't ever hesitate to recommend it to friends, associates and family.
The lack of a home button when reading an article makes this app most unfriendly. Uninstalling till it's fixed. Would not be difficult to add.
I love the app... except, recently it won't load and I have to keep uninstalling it and then reinstall it. I don't know how much more of this I'll put up with before I drop it all together.
Pretty good. Free to read, but with quite a few ads. Would much rather deal with ads than pay for it, though, so here we are.
This app has made improvements since I first rated it * * back in March of 2019. The main issues I mentioned have been addressed and a few more nice improvements have been made which has made the app very usable!
For the life of me, why do the notifications only pop up when I click on the app and why do news articles always send me to the mobile web version instead of staying within the app?
Loaded DNews app to new Samsung phone. Was working fine. Now it stops the second I open it. Anyone have legitimate recommendations on how to fix this?
I love staying in touch with church happenings with Deseret News. Always something interesting to read/watch. Thank you!
100 times more difficult than a paper copy. Where are the funny papers? Takes forever to find anything. This is totally worthless!
I love the Deseret News. Sometimes the app can be slow to respond. May be my provider.
Deseret News has become my primary source for quality journalism. I love that they focus on issues that really matter and make a difference for people. I also value that they take a non-confrontational, professional and respectful approach in presenting varying viewpoints.
I like the local, national and international news. It seems more positive than some other news sources which I appreciate.
I can't get it to work on my S8 + Android. There is really no tech support. The nice lady that tried to help, said she would get someone else, who knew more, to call me the next day. No one ever did. Feel like I am donating my monthly fee.
Diverse range of news local, regional, and national. Well written stories.
A highly questionable news source. Try the Church News app for truthful information about the Church of Jesus Christ. The rest is highly slanted, often very offensive and slanderous coverage that feels heavily anti Christian despite the amazing Christians it portends to write for.
Would like ability to set preferences, such as fewer sports articles.
Pertinent articles, alerts on subjects I have interest in and I have never had issues with access.
The product is good, the delivery needs some bug fixes. This new app version is terrible. The Featured and Latest sections only contain about 20 stories, old version could load a hundred or more. The stories in Featured stay there for 5+ days, making it pretty useless to check as it's all old news. Latest won't even load all of today's news. In-line ads regularly cover up 2-5 lines of the article text. It's very common to click on a story and have a different one come up. Please fix!
