Better than the real thing. Being able to increase print size, ease of traversing the "paper", can read it any where are all pluses.

Nice app, excellent newspaper, except for the fact that Nolan Finlay has a column. Always works well!

I've been very critical of past versions of this app. Very poor user interface, instability, bold text overwrite, etc. I thought it was the worst app of any I had to use on a regular basis and I seriously considered cancelling my subscription. This update is a vast improvement. Still a few bugs, e.g. the page buttons don't always register correctly. But now I can at least read the paper without constant swearing.

Worked fine till update September 9, 2020. Since then I haven't been able to log in. I tried accessing the e-edition via the browser website and that doesn't work either. Up to that date app was 4/5 (minor formatting issues). Now I would rate it zero stars if I could, because my subscription is essentially worthless. Getting a message that "username and password are incorrect" even though they are not. No easy way to reset password. Very frustrating.

Grateful to have the paper as an app, but I don't like how long it takes to load. I also don't like that if I click on an article that is continued from another page, I am linked to that portion of the article only. To get to the first part of the article, I have to "flip" back to it. While this mimics an actual print newspaper experience, it misses the benefits of an app experience.

I previously had an Amazon Fire tablet and the app did not work with it so I viewed it with my browser. Now I have a Samsung and can use the app. One of the things I liked about using the browser was I could print out several puzzles together. I cannot seem to do that on the app, just one puzzle at a time. For just reading the app works great. and would get 4 stars if that was all I used it for.

Oct 25 - having read the update below, I accessed the app settings and deleted storage, but not personal settings, and I was able to access today's e-edition. I have been unable to log into this for almost 3 weeks and now can no longer log into the Detroit News app either. I have contacted customer support daily for the past 3 weeks to no avail. It amazes me this organization is so insulated from their customers. This was a great app until it wasn't!!

Just what it says... a virtual copy of the printed edition. Easy to navigate and read, you can access more than just the free content on the web site, and can even browse previous editions. My only negative remark would be that it's hard to fully appreciate the photography and illustrations on a normal mobile device.

It's really great to get a digital version of the physical layout of the newspaper. It allows me to browse articles that I might not otherwise notice, and it's also a bonus to see all of the graphics, photos, and illustrations laid out rather than shoved into the middle of a webpage on a screen.

Overall, I've enjoyed this app. There have been a few times when it froze or did not work as it should, but those have been rare. I love the convinience of being able to pull up the newspaper anywhere I may be.

I have subscribed to the Free Press for over 40 year. The app is fixed! The Detroit Free Press app now works it opens up immediately with the current edition. You can smoothly view previous editions clicking the editions icon on the bottom of the screen. Good job Detroit Free press!

I have been unable to access the app for several weeks but have gotten through to Customer Service who gave me same rigamarole about unloading and reloading the app to no avail. There fix was to have me access paper through web browser! Was not aware this was an issue with all subscribers until i just read these reviews. I will be pulling my FREEP subscription. UNACCEPTABLE!!

When it works, it is pretty good, but in the times it fails, it takes resetting everything to fix. Three times this month. Mostly going through checklists with customer support. Again.

App is not allowing display of articles. Fails to display articles in paper. I'm getting a blank page. 2/10/19 the problem is still occurring. it was o.k. then started back not allowing articles to be displayed. Frustrating!

I want to continue to receive the full paper, complete w/ comics & this app gives me that. Every once in a while the paper's management tries to limit me to news & sales only which causes hostility to that management. just so you know.

The updated app is great! We're able to turn the page like a printed copy. I also like having the entire screen to read, or view, an ad or article.

App works great. I travel to areas in Michigan where I can't get the Freepress so I like having access wherever I am. Also reduces the wasted paper that goes to recycling.

This app used to be great, now it's unusable. Like others posted here, it will no longer let me sign in even though information is correct. Even tried to access directly from my account page. Will cancel subscription if this is not corrected soon.

App has not been working correctly for over a month. I've called IT and followed their directions of uninstalling and reinstalling the app several times to no avail.

UPDATE: 10-6-20. FINALLY WORKS! had to clear data and cache, seems good now, yay! ------- No longer usable. Updated 9-24-20 and still not able to log in. It's been a week already. This is not acceptable. I'm on android platform.

Well it's now been almost 2 weeks still can't log in, no responses from you guys either. If I ran a company and my employees took over two weeks to fix a problem, I'd be looking elsewhere. You don't even answer any of the complaints. I hope you are going to reimburse us for the lack of your interest in fixing the problem! This is one hell of a way to treat your customers!! Seven days now, still can't log into the app !! DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN CARE.?? This is really stupid, if your IT department can't fix this problem, then FIX your IT department!! If I missed a home delivery, you'd be right on that and blame the delivery person, what is the difference here?? Please at least let us know you are working on the problem and how much of a discount I' m going to get to miss out on my subscription!! For four days and three phone calls and I stii cannot log into the print edition app.. what the hell , can't you people fix a problem, you don't have any problem collecton my money!! If you did an update, then undo it, cause it doesn't work! I can't be the only one this isn't working for...

Since update doesn't recognize user/password combo which I verified through main computer link........ October 1st..... it's let me in today...... nevermind..Oct 2 and locked out again..,well....working later in October. Seems fixed until next update

This app does not work. It flips back to the login screen no matter what you do to login. It may be only on Android but unusable.

Since the latest version haven't been able to login! Help desk has no idea what is going on an just keep being told it is being fix, then get different story!

Just revising my previous review, still 5 stars. I had requested a screen reader but it turns out I just overlooked it. It's already there. This app is perfect.

I wish I could access the E-Edition on my Samsung S10e. After multiple requests for help from customer service, I am still unable to access. I am very frustrated.

Along with lots of others who have commented, this app is now unusable. Calls to tech support and promised fixes have not changed anything. Shouldn't take so long to fix what used to work!

Absolutely unreliable. Very buggy prone. You never know when its going to just freeze up on you.

This app is no longer functional. Same problem as others...the app will not recognize user name and password. It used to be a decent app. Hope the problem is fixed soon.
