Experience heavily constrained. You can't search for words that "may return sensitive content", but you can find it all on the web site. Some of it can be downloaded, some of it cannot. It asks me to change my settings and gives me a button, but upon clicking on it nothing happens. It's truly sad that such a great platform is so poorly represented with this mobile application.
Good. but missing lots of features compared to desktop version on the internet. Good for being able to see commission sales and other notifications on the go but you can't place orders or view portfolios, stats and other things. If this was the DeviantArt website, it would get a 5 star review. However, the lack of profile features, integrated Sta.sh features, and lack of shops or portfolios makes the mobile version an ordinary 3/5.
The app works great 90% of the time. However, sometimes when I attempt to search for something, and switch the filter to "newest" is tell me the search results can not be shown due to "sensitive content lurking within". That said, any other time I search with the same request, it loads perfectly fine. (And what I'm searching is nothing that would be considered "nsfw")
You can no longer filter searches. Why such a dramatic change from something that worked to something that doesn't. When are you going to restore advanced topic search. App and website next to useless without it. How can you mess up you're search mechanic even more! Now after searching if you entre a profiles gallery and then hit back it brings you back to your home page. You then have to start your search from scratch. 0/5
This app is useful, but there is a big issue. There is a bug that if you press any button to return the last screen you went to, you immediately go back to the home instead of going back to the intended page. This is faster for some but also annoying for almost everyone on mobile. Can you fix this for everyone? I will push this up to a 4 star if you can.
I had the app 2 years ago and couldn't stand it, very buggy. Just redownloaded this year and all of the changes and mobile controls are so intuitive and easy to use. It's such a flexible app, and a very useful and optimized version of the site! Art looks incredible on here too!
The new layout has great benefits to it with more ease. But the removal of the ability to scroll through a list of artwork by swiping sideways through them without having to back out and open each one individually is a little jarring and removes a feature that was also very useful.
it could be more user friendly, I wish I could easily post things from my phone to different groups but I haven't figured out how. other than that it's an amazing platform so far and has definitely had some upgrades from "back in the day" lol, I've had a few friends say they haven't touched it in years, they re-login and they're actually very surprised ;)
There is no way to search for galleries. Adding your work to galleries is an important part of promoting your work if you are trying to use DeviantArt to sell your art, so if you use DeviantArt for business you're just going to have to use the desktop site anyways. Plus, saving things to your favorites collections feels kind of clunky, they always auto save to featured unless you remember to press and hold, in which case it lets you select a specific collection. Not awful but a little annoying.
Great app for artists of all levels. I gave it a low-ish score becuase I never get the sort of things I want in my feed and there is WAY more digital art than other. I am finding it difficult to get any attention from my art, and I'm guessing that's partially because it's not digital.
It's nice to have an app for it but like 80% of the posts go black unless you scroll just right and it makes it nearly impossible to read the title for more than a split second. It's really annoying and I feel like I might as well just use the browser version. The description can still be read as well as the suggested posts.
It's getting better, the app was always broken in areas compared to the desktop version... but its very good now I love using this art app and hope to see you on there! Good Luck Finding me 🤣 Suggestions: - Allow making galleries in App - Selecting the App theme (I like the original) - Allow one free name change yearly - to see badges - notification in app about current bage challenges let me have free core lol x
UPDATE: Changing my score to three stars now. App works better now and runs smoother then it used to, along with no longer crashing like it did. It still feels a bit off using it on a phone at times (sometimes when I try to scroll, it registers as a click and opens a picture instead of scrolling). Unresponsive and refuses to load images most if not all the time, popping up a "Server unresponsive" error instead. This used to be a pretty decent app but, lately, it's just broken.
This has the potential to be a good app. You can upload artwork straight for your phone. Perfect when you're on the move and you're a digital artist. However, there's no way to go on the forums, arguably the best way to connect to fellow artists and share one's work. The only way to get rid of notifications is to tediously long-press each and every one to dismiss them. It's be better if we could either swipe them away or be able to batch select and delete them.
I really only use the app to keep up with my notes but as of yesterday when you hit reply in the app the send button is gone? Ive tried closing it, uninstalling and reinstalling it and nothing is working. I have to keep going into my phone web browser to reply (im not near a computer often) and the format is uncomfortable and doesnt always send. Please bring the send button back?
It's pretty alright. the UI is functional (if a little confusing), and there are no major errors to be found. If you're away from your PC it's a useful tool to keep in touch with friends and clients, but it's not a replacement for using the website on your computer.
I love DeviantART but not on the mobile app, the mobile app has many features taken away that the computer has avaliable for us as the most recent thing is, i tried searching something up and it gave me a search msg saying "this content may be to sensitive, try searching something else up" and i can't check if it's a preferred search settings (when it shouldnt be) or like what at this point as i WAS able to search it up before. Now i only feel like a child with parental locks on the app.
Can you do something about the fact, that already deleted notifications (on desktop) show up in the app and so they have to be deleted again? And also about the bug, where when you search something and want to see the results e.g. from newest, it will say there are none (or sth like that). Very annoying. And yes, I do have the latest version of the app. 🙃
An ok app but they block some types of art on it which is blocking an art style. An art style that many other platforms are blocking as well. What we should do is we all should boycott these types of decisions and fully stop using platforms that do this as all it does is trying to censor a real art style that is beautiful in its own right. If it has to be reversed via a law forcing them to do so then that only show how much less we should use them. Not at all is how much use they deserve.
It is an amazingly enduring sounding board for expression. Able to capture modern attention with digital art being foremost. The internal social constructs, and group/clicks are certainly confusing to outsiders (being a member for over a decade and I still do not know what drives favorites other than obsessed browsing and kudos). Not so useful to traditional physical artists (like myself) who sell in real space, albeit most members are not concerned with such.
owners/creators of this, please fix your app. I want to keep using the app version because its more convenient and fast to post. I wasn't able to post any art for a few days, so please pay more attention to the bugs and crashes instead of adding more features.
Was very useful, now however, you can't explore for new artist easy. Since the last update, the back button well most of the time takes you all the way back to the home screen meaning a lot time wasting when exploring.
New DA app layout is pretty solid and organized, but it feels harder to form a community or build connections when our bios, social media, interests, and hobbies don't show up on the app version. I'm hoping for future improvements towards this or at least towards building connections and expressing ourselves as creators. 🤞
A great place just to throw your art out there and see what you can catch. TIP: tagging your art is very important. Wish they had an easy tag remembering system though. It is a pain to retype and remember all of the tags.
DeviantArt, what are you doing with this new notification system are you kidding me?! edit: nevermind, it's actually pretty good it let's me see the profile of who faved my art when the last update had removed that super useful function. But I still don't like how they removed the bio, that's really important but they just removed.
The app is alright, but I can't see who I'm watching, unless I scroll all the way down, there should be a list of who you are watching to make it easier. Another thing is that groups don't have separate galleries like at the website, again, there should be a list for this, it gets frustrating when I'm on my phone and I have to scroll for a few minutes to find an artist I'm watching, God forbid that they didn't uploaded anything in a year, forcing me search them up. At least I can upload stories
It doesn't even work whenever I open it it shows "sorry your connection to the server timed out" and when I search something it keeps loading. It's been 8 months and they still haven't fixed the issue
The app crashes out of nowhere, and I miss recieving notifications on my phone anytime I got a reply. Apparently I also can't download images since they don't appear in my gallery after being downloaded? Maybe it's just coming from my phone but it's annoying honestly. There's so much wrong with the phone app, and I feel like it is getting worse with every new update.
