The application is the worst I have ever encountered. The application does not always open. The radio cannot be started with the application. Bluetooth rarely recognizes the radio unit. Too bad the sound is excellent, instead the application is a joke. Dewalt should do something about it, because it tarnishes its reputation. I will try to write to Dewalt team to change something. It's a shame...
Very disappointed in Dewalt with this one. If you initially setup the speaker with your phone via the app you can control volume and radio stations just fine, it seemed to also play my local library as well, but if I want to stream YouTube music or something it disconnects after a min or so and never works for streaming any BT music again. If I could delete the app and just use the thing as a normal BT speaker that would be fine, but alas when you try to pair that way I get an error message.
1st of all..... the support was 1st class, very responsive. But sadly my android phone default music is Google Music ( I've tried to disable it) 😕 the app only recognises this. I would want a choice ie Amazon, Apple, Deezer etc. But I can still play my AMAZON music via Bluetooth (NOT THE RADIO APP). The Radio app works in every other way perfectly. Change volume and DAB stations and even turn the radio off and on. BUT I'd love to be able to flick between Bluetooth DAB, FM or AM. Otherwise ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The app connected to the Radio/Amp/Bluetooth speaker as easily as I could imagine. The only slight issue I found is that it showed none of my music or playlists (possibly because it is all on my phone's SD card). Even so, I am able to play my music through my DeWalt using another app. 4 of 5 stars!
Good but not great... The radio itself is awesome - the sound is fantastic! I find the battery compartment lid hard to close sometimes with the charging adaptor in its spot though. the app however is a let down... constantly struggling to connect (samsung gs8) although once paired the app works really well, its just the initial struggle to get the app and radio 'talking'. also the firmware version on the app seems to revert back to version 1 evertime i load it up and i have to update it...
I would like to say that this app maybe one of the worst on Google. If the is a firmware update for the radio why has no one as fixed this and all the bugs within this. I would DeWalt and Google to step in and get this right for the customer's . So today my radio has asked for the code 9 times. So DeWalt get this fixed.
Just bought the new dewalt toughsystem radio and downloaded the app so far the connection was easy to execute, the radio is a nice radio I haven't messed with the app itself but I will, I am not able to turn volume up and down from the app itself I have to use the actual radio buttons or my phone up and down volume buttons, I Hope DEWALT can fix this issue, I will update once I start using this more.
The firmware update function doesn't do anything. Sometimes it crashes on startup, also appears to be no way of changing source back to Bluetooth or aux from the app. I'd like to also say.. YOU DO NOT NEED THE APP TO STREAM MUSIC TO THE RADIO. FOR THAT YOU MAKE A NORMAL BLUETOOTH CONNECTION.
No clock or battery level indicator unlike the Tough System ..!! I'm not using the app just to play the radio, so having a battery level indicator like the Tough system would be an advantage, and why is there no clock??? again a feature the Tough system has, seems like dewalt is going backwards. ☹
giving the app 2 stars, should be one. I find it to be hard to use. would be nice if you could switch between modes ( FM, AM, Bluetooth, Aux) from the app. also hard to switch stations that aren't favorited
The app always forgets my radio (tough system 2.0) and thinks its connected to a tstak radio. I have to go to setting disconnect from tstak then sync to my radio. Otherwise app would be a 4 star for in app control and ease of use. Using with a motorola Android phone.
I have the same problem as everyone else. using this app doesn't see my unit. why cant you just tell people how to set it up. I dont want to contact you for support. I wouldn't have to, you sould have instructions on here to show how. or better still when you press search maybe it sould dame well search and find it. fix the problem or delete this app your wasting peoples time.
Had connectivity issues like everyone else, kept playing around with it and found out if you turn the radio off and on it connects ALOT better, also when you do get connected if you go to library that switches it to blue tooth for streaming like the sirus app
Very good app! Everyone complaining about not being able to see their songs through the app...... you have ALLOW it to gain acess to your library/phone. Your phone SHOULD ask you this during setup. Only reason i didnt give it four stars is cause i cant change bass.treb.mid on my phone. Did i miss something Dewalt??
Constant crashes and locking up app also looses Bluetooth settings.. so you have to go through the connection process every time you use it. It's also the same on IOS .
Can't access any of my music stored on my android phone in the library .... tried all sorts of directories none of them show up in the app library ..... stupid that you cannot set the music library directory..... can anybody tell me where to place music to get it I the library ...... ANYBODY .... I've seen school projects with better setup than this ....
Basic thing - why there is no clock on radio. I have a trouble playing YouTube on radio , no matter if it's through the browser or app - it constantly dropping connection. I using Pixel 2 XL.
Barely works tried it on 3 different phones best result was iPhone but that is still sketchy pixel 5 and pixel 6 just won't find the radio at all
This app is complete rubbish. They should rename it with black and decker. I expected quality from DeWalt brand. Shame shame shame. My phone actually connects to the radio - that's why it's 2 stars not one.
System has bugs with bluetooth, Firmware update may fix these but it doesn't work. I pass on this radio and would by a nice $20 bluetooth speaker and leave this at the store.
Like everyone else with this app, I'd have to say it is very poor indeed. Connection issues remain, and although resetting or turning things off and on again, usually work, it defies the object somewhat. I'm not totally convinced the app is capable of all its suggested functions and firmware updates are completely impossible. The DeWalt radio unit itself is great. This amateur excuse for an application on the other hand, requires serious work before it has any use and is best avoided.
