The app is very useful, great database of foods with nutrients information. But it sometimes can be plain irritating (I don't know who wrote "motivational" texts for reminders, but plain "breakfast has not been logged yet" imo would be way better). Calories deficit warning at 9am is odd. My goal is to gain weight slowly, but I am getting articles how to loose it. Btw, would be really nice to be able to group snacks by time I ate them and see carb count per meal, including snacks.
I started using free version of mynetdiary and loved it. The barcode reader for food was fantastic. i also created a web account to upload my data and be able to access it at work. I decided to upgrade to the paid version of Diabetes &Diet Tracker $9.99 and am extremely disappointed. I can't access the account so data is lost - no sync function. Barcode database is not the same as free version. Save money - use free version.
I like almost everything except not being able to edit a custom meal entry after it has been logged. Also for the Diabetes version entering a blood glucose level has too many steps. It should be more like entering a weight. Other than that I like it very much. I also like how it is able to link to my Fitbit data.
I highly recommend this app. It's leaps and bounds better than the free version, with a high functionality that can be improved upon by upgrading to a Premium subscription but still has tremendous value all on its own. I have yet to find another app that matches its versatility and ease of use. (This is an update to my previous review. I'm changing it to the original 5-Stars I would've given this app, if not for a discrepancy in their description, which they fixed. In the end, their customer service was beyond my expectations, so they definitely deserve this reconsideration.)
App works great. Fairly easy to learn and use. Would be 5 stars if it showed a total daily macros on a pie chart instead of a huge layout form that is very difficult to read and quite useless. Like the diabetes carb count, that is most useful to me. Would also like to know how to delete self created recipes but help section isn't very helpful and doesn't explain how. Love the huge database with many foods I use and happy with how easy and quick it is to add the odd new food that isn't there.
The functionality of the app itself is alright. I have a fitbit and it trades useful information. My disappointment lies with the fact that it has so few non commercial foods. If you are actually preparing meals, you have to build everything in and know all the nutritional values ahead of time to do it!
Excellent app. I can cosistently find the foods I need to log. I am managing my blood glucose much better. I also use the app to assess the caliries in meals I am contemplating. I can choose to eat a meal with a lower calorie intake. I would like the lookup to show more home-made dishes, rather than the restaurant equivalent.
This is the first app I have tried. I love the scan feature of food bar code scan and ability to create your own recipes. It is a decipline. You need to use every day. Fortunately the creaters have made this quite easy. I am a small stature person who has always found it harder to lose weight than a tall over weight person. I am pleased to say I have lost over 30 lbs and gone from a 18 p to a 12 p in size. Yeah!!!!!!!!! Thank you very much for such a great program.
it's OK. Some navigation oddities and requires login on my tablet but not on my phone. Submitted this issue, but no solution. Seems my request is lost somehow.
I like this app, but It does not work with Samsung Health, which is important to me since I have a Samsung Galaxy and Samsung watch. I don't understand why the developer has not made their application to be compatible since Samsung phones are the most popular Android phones out there. Also, Samsung Health offers way more than Google fit, which incidentally I have not be able to get to work correctly. Fitbit and Garmin are not the top trackers out there. I switched apps to one that does.
It has been invaluable on my new Diabetes journey, especially having everything in 1 place.! Would rate higher if I could sync food and exercise with my fitbit. Already paid for app, and others offer that, shouldn't have to pay more to go premium for just that 1 feature! (Google Fit is included, but not FitBit?????)
I really like the app but I often find that the carb count isn't accurate or there are malaria versions of the same item and no clear way to identify the right one. This is true for things I fix at home and for some restaurant. Many of the items are brand names that I'm unfamiliar with.
I dont understand, I bought the app and installed it, I logged my meals for days and every day the app changes or deletes my entries. Too many redundant food entries. When you choose an entry that is already in the app but the product label has changed, its impossible to change it. You have to take a pic of the UPC code and updated info send it to the app.....but the changes never occur. I tried to put in a receipe for my beef stew, it took half a day and I couldn't log a normal serving.
Update: still #1! 5 STARS = cals/carbs/macros/nutrients/ #1 app! NOTHING ELSE COMPARES. No other scanner is faster than this one, no other app can come close. Honest ! Anyone having issues with this app, you may need to learn how to use it. I have NEVER had an issue but it Is a lot to learn. Take one step at a time, practice scanning your intake. SCAN VITAMINS & WATER under SNACKS-will add value for nutrients, vitamins, minerals, in your daily intake, D version is best for keto, carbs, plus more!
Update 1/25/21: I have been using this app for over a year & am still impressed by the thoughtful design. Among other features, I just discovered the Web Recipe Import feature which makes importing (& modifying) recipes a breeze. Once again, the developers have added a feature that works beautifully. I never feel like an involuntary beta tester (unlike other apps). Built on MyNetDiary, this app is both user friendly & highly customizable. Thank you, developers, content writers, & testers!
I need to export information to doctor from my app. There is not a way as a premium payer to save your data as pdf. Also, it is displayed as a chart as a very wide landscape so you can't even screen shot it and send it. As a result, I have to write 2 weeks of results by hand. And asking the doc to join the app to look at the numbers was a no. Some docs are aholes like that. I like the carb counter though. Now I am in search of an app that let's me export to doctors pdf style.
App isn't showing recently entered food logs. It is clocking when bringing up food items whether they are scanned, or saved. The labels are also clocking. The most recent updates have done not damage than good!
