Dictionary

Great dictionary, no doubt, probably the best. I was about to criticize the size of the words written in phonetic alphabet and the table used to pronounce the words. To give just one example, take a look at the word "advantage" written "ād-vân'tîj" . It's impossible to determine which accent is being used on the letter I due to the small font size used but if you're a registered user, you can actually increase the size of the font. They really thought about every detail.

So far, all good. 5⭐ @Sh Mo- If I understand correctly, it's awaiting your app selection to provide feedback. Most only support email for this but some may allow Telegram, SMS, etc. However, the Share Menu is far from perfect; it seems that even if email is the only option that will work, you're able to choose any of your social apps & if unsupported, it crashes without notice. One could easily think they submitted logs, a bug report, etc. but in truth, nothing but the app crashing took place.

I don't know, the UI is cheap looking and hard to navigate, like it was just put together but not really finished. I'm not overly tech savvy but while its dictionary works fine if cumbersome, all the "game" features work poorly. May as well get a dictionary without all the non working game features they don't work well anyway. The design is not good visually. I keep it only for the dictionary and flash card feature (and this feature actually works) but I'm looking for another word app.

It is not the best looking app and some words get redirected without explanation then I will have to do a Google search instead. When you try to send them a feedback about these things, it will try to find a right app for doing this (?!?). But it free, it shows some other potential languages other than English (just in case) and it is better than some others.

I love this app but i have 2 issues. I got a new phone and can't seem to transfer alll my words. I dont know which email I used for the app as I'm always logged on and can't find it in the app, only my username. Issue 2, I can't see the bottom word in the list of words I've looked up due to the poorly placed add. But mostly the transfer thing.

I tried a few of the top dictionary apps. I think this is the best one because it has definitions, idioms, and quotes, and the flashcard feature is great. My feedback: -Make a new flashcard button on the definition page. Creating one from the currently viewed word isn't intuitive (press the button twice). -Capitalize the first letter in the secondary definitions. -Add a random word feature. -Add a feature to choose multiple definitions in flashcards. -Increase the flashcard character limit.

I love this app. I prefer it than the google one i think its more accurate and overall experience is times more trustworthy and satisfying. I have it on my phone from 2-3 years now. Recently i got a laptop and its one of the 1st apps i downloaded on it. Its a big helper and i know i can trust it for both checking the meaning and the translation of new words.

Always a pleasure to visit almost everyday! Great articles and information to help stimulate my appetite for learning. Over the years improvements have been made which are non-intrusive and without just "adding things" to clutter and make it less enjoyable. Having a feature to turn off the very few areas that I'm not interested in makes it an even faster way to get on my busy schedule.

The app looks very good from first impressions, it definitely provides plenty of options and customizability. One thing I noticed though is that it doesn't have the graphic thesaurus seen on the website, and the website looks so much cleaner, something I'd like to see in the app. Definitely worth using though, no intrusive ads (though I feel like the 'rate us' could have been less intrusive, maybe as a small pop-up at the bottom instead of the whole screen, but that's nitpicky). But great app!

Nice dictionary. So much in it. I love it. It gets 2 stars because it has those unique ads that are designed for you to "accidentally" click on, even if you don't particularly care about the product or service. This causes issues with the personalization of your ads if you care about that sort of thing, not to mention being redirected somewhere when you just wanted to look up a word and get back to your novel.

An excellent app. It does have a few flaws though. Firstly, there are too many ads. Occasionally the audio pronunciations don't load and the page needs to be refreshed. Lastly, using this app feels more like viewing a website in a browser rather than using an app. Despite its flaws it's still my favourite dictionary app and I hope it improves.

Great app, best dictionary for offline use. I have used this for about a decade since high school, and I'm happy to see it is still developing well. It has a word of the day and trivia notification, but they get a little annoying. I love how this also compares you can also switch dictionaries, unlike a Google search engine. If I want to say the British variants I can choose that.

Edit: Thanks for the quick response. I was getting ads after doing the in-app upgrade. After playing with it more, I think it's a bug: ads still show up for words I looked up before the upgrade, but not for new words. 4 stars apart from that bug. Other than that, the text first loads in the smallest font and only then resizes, which means the text jumps around uncomfortably and makes using the app slower.

A very useful app indeed. It can take you into fascinating worlds if you just touch the button that tells you about the significance of "today". It may test how much of "word power" you have, which helps you develop a good interest in improving your vocabulary. It has many other interesting features. A good possession on your phone. Try it, I'm sure you will keep it.

I use web based version for years, and have discovered app version just now. It is the best dictionary there is. I gave 4 stars (it would be 4.99 if it could) just because of a tiny detail. It is not clearly stated that this and pro version are separate apps. I thought that PRO is just another level upgrade. I don't mind paying twice, it's that good, just feel somewhat tricked, since I clicked pro link through this app.

Very easy to use, easy to navigate. You can download the offline versions and has different languages as well. This is great dictionary compared to merriam. My only suggestion, please do not change the settings like merriam did because instead of having an improvement it became worst; please also add some more vocabulary because some words I search for are not there. Thank you, Team!

Amazing app! Easy to use and encourages you to keep learning by being able to add your favourite new words to your bookmarks and you can just tap next to them to see the meaning! It even has a Swedish translation which makes me happy! One thing I would love from the developers is to add a tab that gives you the words in sentences, so you can see exactly how they are used in different scenarios. Fingers crossed as that would make it ten times better!

My experience with the app has been wonderful. It shows a generous amount of results for a specific search. It has different options to surf and select ( thesaurus is my personal favourite) however I am unable to save words. I would love that addition, also please tell me if the option is available and how to use it. Thankyou

This is the best dictionary available online. However, the app stopped working for me a few months ago - the window just won't stay open, and the support team are "unable to replicate the issue". I'm awfully disappointed because it is my favourite dictionary. I'm using the web-based service instead but it's not as convenient as the app on the phone.

I use both IOS & Android versions. Good for finding and learning words using flashcards plus variety of word games and info. However, search suggests too many words and often in multiple languages. IOS version permits turning off search preferences such as idioms, financial, legal, medical, etc but doesn't work. Doesn't appear to be way to turn off multiple languages in search and definitions. To many ads and definition screen is very busy.

EDIT: The flashcards function needs to be revamped, in that you need to have the option to see more than just one definition on them. AND, if it's too long, the whole thing doesn't fit. "OMG, FLASHCARDS?! This is the greatest.... Uh, THING I've ever seen! (I'm going to start using them to increase my vocabulary immediately.) I actually have been using a physical dictionary, and writing down definitions on paper; but this is totally more convenient."

I'm not impressed, first it requires you to create an account. Next, it doesn't integrate into the system, at least not from my experience. I'll be un-installing. Edit... By integrating into the system, I mean into the keyboard and/or when you select/highlight a word and the copy paste etc options pop up, there is no option to to directly go to the dictionary app. I also tried the Oxford dictionary and though it has its own problems, that app did what I described.

Update: Worst dictionary you can have! I was in a library when a video with a loud Arabic song played again! Took a screenshot and sent it to support. awful ads, I was in the library, looking for some words, suddenly a stupid loud video as advertisement came up. So annoying, I think that it would be so better if the ads could be pictures with a very big "close" button.

I love learning and finding exactly what I need. This app does offer that plus it has some added creativity in word learning and information about events and things from past centuries and present that happened on this day. I find the latter to be irrelevant and also has some word games included. I would rather keep it simple and not add too much on an app.

I read the review and decided to give a try. It's very useful and informative. It also has translation function but not until you pay and it will remove the add as well. But, my dispointment is, there is a pro version I didn't know until I paid current one. I wish it allows me to upgrade by paying a little extra without buying and installing two version apps on my phone.
