The app is fine. But several times I had problems with drivers. They couldn't find the popular place or even worse, just at the moment I've been approaching the car they were canceling a trip. It was so strange, like I am waving at the driver and he writes me "can't find you" and cancel a trip. I would like to have an opportunity to leave comment if the driver cancels a trip!

Booked 3 times for a lift the following morning and got nothing. I ended up walking to a nearby metro to get to my destination. The drivers took order and then refused to do it. One called me to cancel. One was nice enough to automatically switch me to another driver. The last one never showed up. I saw a in-app message asking me to cancel, and I don't even know who was it from. Maybe the drivers just want to have more counts of taking orders? This is ridiculous and a total waste of time.

This is a horrible worst app i have ever seen. Dont trust them everything!!! They have a promotion to get cash back if you pre paid, but it does not allow you to pay with the pre paid amount you have, it is alway asking to pay with alipay. The customer service can not do amy favor, they continue to ask you to provide the screenshot but nothing they can do. I have over $1,000 credits in the app and no way to use the credit!!!!!

Didi constantly assigns cars that are on the other side of the road, and heading away from you. When you try cancelling it gives you a warning "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO CANCEL? THE CAR IS ONLY 75 METERS FROM YOU!". Yes I'm sure, that 75 meters equals 2-3 kilometers before cars can Uturn. I don't know why you stopped using Baidu Maps. but your new map system is complete garbage.

Didi worked fabulously for me in Beijing last month! I was able to call metered taxis and private cars very easily from wherever I was. The messaging feature which translated from English to Chinese between passenger and driver and vice versa was a very useful tool. Because of the Didi, as a solo female traveller, I was able to travel freely and safely everywhere I wanted to go in Beijing.

Such a sheet app. Doesn't go past "enter mobile number" step. Gives network error, even while my wifi, mobile data, voice service... Everything is on. Once or twice it went past that step, then stuck at the captcha step. Update... After many retries, I could create login, and then all said that English version not available in this region (in Australia) and it turned to Chinese. Then it was asking something in Chinese. How do I know what's it asking? I had to uninstall straight away.

Raising rating as it's been working well once I figured out how to switch to English. The language switch to English is buried under settings->language (but those are in Chinese, so hard to find). They should move them to the top level so they're easier to find.

Horror. Does not work with U.S. credit cards. Requires prepayment when ordering car but payment options at that point are only Wechat Pay or AliPay and both pay types don't work unless you have a credit card with a Chinese bank. Good luck having a Chinese bank credit card if you are an American tourist or tourist from any other country. Attempted to use this app (and failed) in Shanghai.

I really am surprised to see all these negative reviews. I am an expat living in Shanghai for over 6 years and never had I have any trouble with Didi. The drivers don't call you normally so you don't have to worry about not speaking Chinese. The app has an built in chat function to talk to drivers that automatically translates. 90 percent of the time I get a ride within 5 min and occasionally I get free coupons that makes the average cost per ride much lower than a regular taxi .

Installed it before going to China (in Australia) so I can get used to it, but it says it doesn't work in English in this region and switched to Chinese. Not much help. Looks like I will uninstall it and install it again just before going to China but not run the app until I'm in China. Please fix it and allow it to default to English anywhere.

Don't know why you can use a pin to set the pick up location but can't use same for setting the destination. Being in English is fine but if the names of all destinations in China don't translate perfectly, you'll need that pin to set the destination.

Absolute necessity if you're visiting China and don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese and plan on taking a cab by yourself. Works like uber, except for cab rides (No ride sharing in China atm). Also has the added benefit of keeping drivers honest with the price. Simply indispensable. Download before you arrive to avoid issues with the firewall.

There are multiple versions of this app. The app from DiDi will update itself (common for Chinese apps), that version will also try to get root on rooted android. Customer service says it needs root, though that cant be true as the play store version won't because google would remove it and most phones are not rooted. But, why would a ride hailing app need root? This version will keep itself in a sandbox, but if they'd try to get root when they can, would you trust it anyway? Likely malware.

Late at night when the wait is about 3 to 4 hours long, I would cancel my request. When I arrive home via other mode of transportation. I would get a phon call form someone asking me in Chinese "Where are you?" For some reason the app would NEVER program that I cancelled the request 5 hours ago and then would make me seem like a horrible rider using and abusing the app. Now, I cannot even get a simple driver during the day. This is not right or fair. I did my part in canceling rides and now it seems as if drivers won't respond to my requests because of the faulty app.

You can change Chinese version to English version by tapping top left hand corner, with man icon. Than tap on setting. The first or second from top selection should be language. Must have apps while in china. International credit card is accepted now. Good luck

I'm from India, I'm in Guangzhou for work purpose . I found Didi the best app to commute where there is no subway . You don't have to wait for a long to get boarded it's quick , reliable and also you get all the details of fare , driver's name, mobile no, distance to destination , maps navigation , etc. You can do alipay, wechat pay and also cash. Must try !! Uber users you'll find it very easy

Sometimes a driver will park on a nearby street or area and then he'll call or message you for you to go and find him. Not easy to go walkabout for a taxi in an unfamiliar city with practically alien language. Also, you can't cancel a driver you can't find without paying a fee.

Used twice and now I can't book a ride at all. Been waiting for an hour and says there are plenty of drivers.... Talked to customer service also and all they did was recommend to clear cache and or reinstall the app. I did both and still nothing! China is literally the worst country for a foreigner to get around in. It sickening compared to other nations.

Just stopped working. Won't charge my credit card. Tried 3 different ones. Called customer service, they said reinstall the app or try a 4th card. Had no interest in helping and hung up on me when I insisted they that didn't solve the problem. Happened 5 calls In a row. Their customer service people are lazy and useless

Avoid like plague! Avoid! Avoid! So bizarrely bad. At one point I had installed this in China, then returned to New Zealand. Then they were sending me promotional messages which I did not want nor had asked for. And they did NOT cancel when I replied. I tried reinstalling the app to cancel and delete my account. But then after briefly showing English, it popped up a box stating it only supported Chinese. And there its stuck. No way of changing it. No way of deleting the account. Awful!

Getting the verification code to register through a voice call is a horrible experience. I'm pretty sure I entered the right digits I heard over the call, inclusing making a recording of it, but wasn't accepted after 5 attempts. Now have to try later.

this app os terrible of you don't speak Chinese, wait times in evning are super long (much longer than estimates), at night many places there are no cars at all, you often end up in wrong place. compared to uber this is dramatically bad. based on Shenzhen Beijing and Shanghai

One every two updates now breaks the automatic payment function and you get the prompt that the registration of the app is not compatible with current phone. You then have to process the payment manually. also very annoying now are all the ads and security pop-ups you have to go through and close each time before app allows you to book a ride Please remove the ads and make the security prompt a one time thing you can set as an option in settings. 所有安全提示做设置选项，不要每次约车重提醒一边！这样好无聊！

great app that can become even better if you could just pin the location you want to go instead typing... as a foregner i have no clue of some local names and it makes it a nightmare when you want to go to specific place.

Hit and Miss. The app was great when visiting China recently, however, the reserve option only worked once. During rush hours the app did not find a car whereas the concierge was able to using a local Chinese app on his own phone.

Very easy to use, especially in the English interface. I use Didi several times a week and it's great. Pricing is good, customer service is great and the app is easy to use

Foreign credit card & phone no. won't get you a cab. I was at hotel lobby trying to DD a cab to catch a flight. Payment details all set. I added the pick up +drop off location & the request was sent. The system went spinning for 5 mins, no cabs or response, tried 5 times. Hotel concierge says the request did not register with DD backend system, cab drivers are not receiving the request. Happened to many guests.DD helpdesk didn't help, They logged ticket told me to wait 72 hours, I need a cab NOW

super annoying to switch to english (takes forever to actually change). doesn't let you put a credit card just says "contact us" with zero helpful info, and no form to contact them.

Used this app while I travel in China. Its very hard to connect and it hang all the time. Waited 40 mins and it hangs while its my turn to get a car. Need a lot of improvement

1. New version doesn't work. Won't load, goes in endless loop to verify 2. Super slow to load with splash screen 3. English doesn't work in HK... Then can't change back to English after.
