Tha app allows users to practice and develop their skills for not just one specific pan, but the entire range of the steelpan family. This includes: Tenor High C, Tenor Low C, Double Tenor, Double Seconds, Double Guitar, Triple Cello, Four Cello, Tenor Bass, Six Bass and a Children's steelpan.
The app offers the opportunity to experience the diverse richness of the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago and the only percussive instrument created in the 20th century. In addition to which, it acts as a teaching aid by increasing the capabilities of users which adds to the potential of obtaining different opportunities.
The Digital Pan App features:
Lock: This icon allows users to freely play the pan while all other icons are locked as to prevent accidently touching another icon.
Full Steelpan Range: Access to the entire range of the Steelpan family, including the Tenor High C, Tenor Low C, Double Tenor, Double Seconds, Double Guitar, Triple Cello, Four Cello, Tenor Bass, Six Bass and a Junior Steelpan.
Piano: In addition to the range of the steelpan family, there is a piano which has the notes accessible to broaden the learning experience.
High Quality Sound: All Steelpan notes were recorded directly off the GILLPANS Masters Series and digitally mastered.
Recordings: Users can record and replay pieces that they created. Also, users can select all the previous recordings and play them all at once or one by one.
Tutorial: There are videos available for users to view which demonstrates the app in use.
Teaching Aid: The notes on the Steelpan and the piano can be toggled on/off to act as a teaching aid.
Multitouch: Traditionally, steelpan players use 2 or 4 sticks when playing the various pans. However, the advantage of the app is now you have 10 fingers that can be easily used to play the steelpans.
Rotation & placement: All pans on the app can be rotated and moved to suit to the users’ preference.
Color: The app allows users to change the color of the junior pan only to the variety of fun colors available.
Help Screen: Screenshots with explanation a breakdown of all the functions the app possesses.
Main menu: Layout of / link to history, description of each pan, about DB and availability to share the app via social media.
Mobile Platform: Supports all major smart phones and tablet devices including iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7.

Had to edit my original review because it stopped working on my MotoG4 phone. Gonna try to reinstall. All u get is a black screen. At first it would happen only now and then but after a while it would happen everytime I tried to open it. Original post: Fantastic sound. Wonderful to have the full range of instruments. Very pragmatic features like ability to rotate / rearrange pans, display notes on/off, record, etc. Takes a few seconds to load up in Droid, and a zoom feature would be really nice, but otherwise it's great!
Works a little better on a tablet, lead is okay on phone but doubles guitars etc better on tablet. Educational and useful, especially if you need to learn a tune without setting up your pan.
I got this app so I could practice the songs I play for any concerts. I couldn't find the single second pan which is the one I play. There also isn't a roll feature which I feel needs to be implemented
The sound is great. Software may occasionally may have issues starting up, but otherwise it's easy to play and I like that the notes can be made visible or not.
Takes forever to open and most of the time doesn't open at all. Didn't work on my LG V10 and neither on my LG v20. Needs to be updated to support higher verisons of Android OS
app failed to work... I downloaded it several times and a blank screen just pops up.
Lags when opening so sometimes it just doesnt work. Also You can't play two tones in rapid succession
This is a GREAT app. I play a double guitar at my school. The only thing that I wish it had was actual music you could look at. But other than that, I 😍 it.

UI is a little funky, but this is much better than the version before. Really glad you guys updated it.

It used to be really good however they updated it and now it won't even open as it just loads a black screen... I hope you can put it back to the way it used to be

The app helps me be able to practice steel pan when there is no practice at home. I can learn the songs much quicker.
Way too many ads. So much that I didn't try the pans to be able to rate.
This new update is terrible. All I get is a black screen and it freezes my phone. It worked perfectly before so why update to a non-functional app? Please put back a link to the old app. Thank you.

Will not run on my Galaxy S7 Edge. Just a black screen, nothing else.
The app stopped working. I have an S7 edge the app an even tried reinstalling it still doesn't work.
I love playing a real steel pan at school but now I don't have to spend a thousand dollars on one for home. This ap would be better if you could play rolls with a press and hold touch and playing a chord. Other than that love this app

never the same as owning a real tenor pan but very useful for beginners who are saving up to buy their own steel pan.
It just won't open on Android. I've had this app on IOS and it was brilliant 5 stars, just needs bugs fixing for Android please!
So far I have not gone through the entire app but thus far I think it's an educational and learning tool.
I have this app on my iPad air 2 and is phenomenal but there is an issue with it on my Droid Turbo 2 running Android 5.1.1, whenever I launch it it won't open up, all I get is a black screen. I believe that I addressed this problem in the previous version of this app but it still hasn't been fixed...at least not on my device.
