The experience is smooth. The ads are okay of you do not want to upgrade, but for long term hard core listeners it might be a win to go for the upgrade. I noticed that the app is quite data hungry compared to other music streaming apps, but that might be because of the listening quality as well. This of course is for my taste.

PROS: Wide range of stations, and great tunes. Well curated. So, it's great for music discovery. Subscription recommended (for more playback comtrol, no ads and to support its continuation). CONS: Very limited playback control (only play, pause or skip). No playlist creation etc. Best to think of it as a set of enhanced radio stations, not an on-demand streaming service. But still worth the subscription (just!).

I have been listening to DI.FM for around 12 years now, and it is amazing how consistent the website, and mobile app are. When using the free version, ads are very minimal (when compared to local radio stations), and the sound quality is still amazing. The main reason that I will pay premium is not just for the audio quality, and to remove the ads; but in respect to the developers/creators. Thanks to DI.FM, I have also discovered new genres and even DJs; in which I replaced Spotify with it. Definitely the best radio station and app there is out there!

Absolutely love the app and all it's options, and have used it for some time now. Only downside I can think of is the Premium price just feels too steep, and not being able to search and play specific songs for the service is a bummer. Otherwise a fantastic experience in my opinion.

For a free app, the ads are not invasive! I can go 30 minutes before getting the first ad and its mostly an ad for upgrading to Premium. I am considering it especially since there is an option to pay for the year outright ( i hate having monthly charges ). Been a long time listener since the shoutcast and winamp days which is how I found out about the service in the first place. Loved DI then and love it even now!

Digitally Imported Radio is a top notch internet radio service that I have been using for 10+ years and there's nothing else out there as good. Since the release of the app, DI.FM is my main source of FREE Electronic Music. I've never had a problem with the app, which has only become better over the years. Audio quality is superb, even for the free version and while the ads can get annoying, they don't play that many relative to how much music is played. All in all my favourite music app.

Been a di.fm member for over 10 years. I love their selection of music channels. What has stood out is that 2 times i had connection issues and support reached out to me within an hour. Both times not just telling me to "reboot", etc. They were really trying to figure it out. I had one question about a station and the corp gang got back to me about the song selection and talked to the channel owner. This is the streaming station I have been a subscriber most and their support helps me out but the service is just really awesome! Get the app and consider buying a premium service. Haven't regretted ever.

Good selection of music but annoying reminders and ads. The music selection is great, even the free streams are a good quality. Two complaints: ads in thr middle of songs and reminder popups. 1. Please place ads between songs not in the middle of them. 2. The biggest nuisance is the "you haven't used the app in a while please come back" notifications. If I have used the app, there is a reason, please do not pester and annoy me like a 5 year old to come back and play with you.

I seem to be having a love/hate relationship with DI.FM.. I love the music and the app, but I hate the fact that so very often, on certain streams, when a song finishes, it simply rewinds 60-90 seconds* back and plays that last bit again. Almost as if it's filling up time that would otherwise be used for ads before a new song will be played... Not sure why that happened but it's pretty annoying. _____Edit: it was seconds, not 60-90 minutes, my bad. Anyways, the issue seems to be mostly happening on the Chill&Tropical House channel. I've noticed a few times on Progressive as well, but not as often as the Chill & Tropical House one.

A great app, works very well except for one glaring omission - there is no way to seek within a previously broadcast radio show. Would get 5 stars if it wasn't for this. Edit: What I mean by 'seek' is if I want to resume listening to a radio show from half way through, there is no way do do this. I have to start from the beginning each time. Very frustrating!

Usually doesn't play any music. This app used to be great. I recently signed up for premium again and almost all the channels won't play and the app crashes a lot. I Uninstaller reinstalled and nothing. Tried on wifi and on data, nothing. EDIT : So, I haven't been having any issues with the app lately. Maybe they were working on the servers or something but it works great now. Definitely worth the money for premium

Edit: the issue has disappeared, probably by switching from the default AAC stream to MP3. -- New user here. On my Pixel 2 with Android 10, using the USB type C Pixel buds the playback has 'hiccups' every 30 seconds or so. This does not happen with my Bluetooth headset, but I mainly use the wired buds. While this is not a big issue, just like real hiccups, it's quite annoying. Other than that the app is great. The service and the content is excellent. 👍

OK, so they've added playlists - how cool. So I find a playlist and I'd like to somehow save it for later. I find the "Followed lists" option. But I can't for the life of me find any way to add the list to the followed lists. I try thumbing up, sharing, holding my finger over the list for longer, nothing does the trick. Edit: So now I know. But how was I supposed to know? Usually it doesn't matter if you touch a picture or a text, especially that after touching the picture a screen with play/pause and share controls is there. And then even if I'm on the screen with play and save buttons, when I go back to the list of playlists and then touch the area with the song currently playing to get back to the song, I'm on the "artwork" screen again. There are some "levels" or "modes" that make this confusing instead of just being "in the song", "in the playlist", "in the list of playlists" so you know where you are.

I've been listening to di on and off for over 15 years. When I saw that they had an app, I had to check it out. Overall, the app is beautifully designed, well themed, and very colorful. The sound quality is excellent. The ads are well timed and not too frequent. I do recommend getting premium mode. You get access to the highest stream quality, no ads ever again, and the giant repository of previous live shows that you can hear on-demand at any time. Wish i could write more. Highly recommended!

Only giving 2 stars because the app doesn't organize and let you access your thumbs up songs in a playlist. It's like literally listening to a radio station with the same 3 ads on repeat all day. Also the app always takes a super long time to load and play, and pauses and stops constantly. Already troubleshooted with support for the last year and it's always the same. I really like the music but that's about all I like about the app.

Edit: If anyone runs into an issue with "Live Captions" causing audio to not play in the app, I went to "settings" then "Apps & notifications" then "see all ??? apps" and pressed on "Google Play Music" and chose "Force Stop". It said something about app misbehaving, but it was already misbehaving, so I force stopped it. Problem solved. Hope this works for you. No other solution worked for me. Other than the occasional issue, the app is so great and I love using it when not at the computer!

I love the music. It's not mainstream repeats typically. I love the DJ MIXES the most. Definitely worth the install, and having a premium subscription is kinda needed because the ads are super annoying (I'm sure that's the goal), especially when you are really feeling the music. And it's not just one or two ads. It's a lot of them. So get the subscription. It's worth it. You also will be able to skip more then just 1 song per 24hrs.

I initially started using the DI.FM app as a free user and have been a fan of all forms of electronic music for decades. Back in 2014, when I found and discovered the app, it was actually the first streaming app that I had ever found. The features, user friendly interface, and musical genres and style selections are truly second to none. I made the switch and paid for the commercial free listening, and I never looked back. Now I have converted both my wife and all of my kids to DI.FM's app.
