Keeps telling me that there is an update available, but when I try to update this 2012 version, there is no available update. Could be set up better.
Works for most operations
I love this app, but it only audo detects recevers that are directly attached through wifi or ethernet. To add recevers that are just hooked up to cable you have to manualy enter there ip address, for some bacic users this could get confusing. 5 stars if it was fixed.
This app is not a scam. It does not work directly with your receiver(s). It connects via your Wi-Fi connection. If your trying anything else it will not work. Which means you need to have internet networked into your DirecTV network via a cinema connection kit. So your novice home owner may have issues. But it works very well if set up right. I drive my son crazy because I can change channels from any room in the house.
I installed before reading the entire overview. Needless to say, I was very disappointed that it won't work with a Direct Plus receiver that is not connected to the home network. Especially since to connect the receiver to the home network it costs $80.00 for tor the Directv Cinema Connection Kit. So it really doesn't make this app free @ all and is ultimately worthless to me:( Kind of cool idea though. I wish that requirement would have been stated closer to the beginning of the overview. It would have saved me a lot of time!
Worked perfectly on 3 TVs that I tried. Worked from 20 ft away and 15 feet above (that may depend on what device type using) I think the only bad thing I can say is it doesn't have a volume button.
This app works better than the RC65X DirecTV remote. No, I don't work for the app company or even have their stock, but I might in the future ;-) With this app I don't need direct line-of-sight to control my antique HR21 DVR. A single click on this app does what three frustrating clicks does with the RC65X in IR mode. I use this on my Google Nexus by Asus running Jelly Bean with no problems. The 7 inch size is great for a remote. It was awkward on my 10 inch tablet.
For the advanced user you can access your DVR remotely over the 3G/4G Network. One suggestion would be to added functionality to see the to do list over the the phone not on the TV screen. There is a committing app that does
Gives an error that receiver is running an unknown version (new install new receiver), the app works even though it displays this error BUT no volume control of tv.
You must make sure you are on the same network as the directv. I will be donating, by far the best DirecTV remote. The only thing that would make this better would be the ability to customize the remote button layout.
I say it works better than my actual DTV remote because it doesn't have to be pointed towards the DTV box to work. Let's say I brought my phone into the bathroom (not that I actually would, but just as an example, lol) & forgot to pause my show. I can do so right there from the bathroom! No you can't operate volume, but technically neither can the DTV remote unless you program the "universal remote" function of the remote to do TV functions. TIP: Download "Stay Alive" to keep device on while using this app.
Works perfect when you can't find the remote. The only bad thing is that the receiver need to be connected to WiFi for the remote to work besides that it's perfect
With the exception of the audio volume control, this remote works better than the remote that came with DirTV. It works from the next room and is easy to read. I like it best.
I honestly downloaded this expecting it not to work... that was over 3 weeks ago, I finally decided to try it out today and it works!! I did get a splash screen of telling me I may need an update to the app for it to work, but when I checked there were no updates available... so when I tried it anyway it actually worked!! Well done! Very impressed!
It enables you to save the channels you use the most and then you can see what is on the channels you have selected at a glance. Others is also a section that acts just like the traditional remote. The only real downside is that there is no volume control.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Great solution when you've dropped your regular remote one too many times...
I downloaded the app because my son lost his remote. Didn't work on his set, only the main box. It works fine but, not what I needed when I needed it
I don't have to find the remote or get up! I pick at the kids when they have the remote I change the tv even when im in another room.
At first it was working great, but after a few days it kept messing up.
Their isn't a volume button so that's a downer and I think they should have one besides that I think its great and it works perfectly with my TV. Also when I can't find my remote I steal my sister's or my phone and that's good so everyone who wants an app like this they should get it so everyone should have it definitely😀☺
This remote control works great and I like it very much. I've only had at for a short time and I still have practice to do with it but right now I am totally totally happy.
It takes approximately 10 seconds to send a signal. When I try to change the channels using the number pad, it only accepts 1 number at a time. Unless you want to choose channels 1 through 9, the number pad is useless.
I haven't had any luck with the "currently watching" feature but I can change channels, view the guide, and control the dvr. Happy with it!
Works well. Use it to annoy the wife while she is watching TRHWOBH. Quite fun.
Works Adequately if your remote disappears or falls apart. Much easier than dealing with Direct TV and paying for replacement. Biggest downside: I have an older DVR that according to Direct TV is updated yet the app keeps telling me to update my Direct TV, MY BOX, AND THE APP when not 1 have an update! Other downfalls include: Even with my box in the direct line of fire changing channels by number, or using up & down/right & left, and searching take forever to navigate. It's usable and unlooseable! Peace...
It does everything that the remote does except tv on. My reciever is hooked up to internet and I use the Direct tv app also. Samsung galaxy tab 2.
Great app to run your directv. If the developer updated the app to look better, remove nonfunctional elements, south it out, it would be hot.
Works great anywhere I am at. Updates what's showing on the channels I want to watch. Easy to work and big buttons that I can see.
Functionally app performs all tasks of DirecTV remote. Visual improvement suggestion: wish the remote would be designed so I don't have to scroll up and down
DirTV Remote is great for me. I just wish it had volume control without buying a plugin. I use it frequently.
