Overview of the Directorate General of Taxes
The Directorate General of Taxation (abbreviated as DGT) is one of the directorates general under the Indonesian Ministry of Finance who has the task of formulating and implementing policies and technical standardization in the field of taxation. The organization of the Directorate General of Taxes was originally a combination of several organizational units, namely:
• Tax Office that has the duty to carry out tax collection based on legislation and perform cash inspection tasks of Government Treasurers;
• Auction Agency in charge of auctioning confiscated goods to repay state tax receivables;
• Bureau of Tax Accountants in charge of assisting the Tax Office to carry out tax audits of the bookkeeping of Corporate Taxpayers; and
• Bureau of Agricultural Product Tax (Directorate of Regional Development Contributions at the Directorate General of Monetary) which is tasked with leviing tax on land products and taxes on land which in 1963 was changed to Directorate of Taxation of Land Products and then in 1965 changed to Directorate of Regional Development Fees (IPEDA) .
With the decision of the President of Republic of Indonesia No. 12 of 1976 dated March 27, 1976, the Ipeda Directorate was submitted from the Directorate General of Monetary to the Directorate General of Taxes.
On December 27, 1985 through Republic of Indonesia Law No. 12 of 1985 the Directorate of IPEDA changed its name to the Directorate of Land and Building Tax (PBB).
Likewise, office units in the area which were originally named Ipeda Inspection were replaced with Land and Building Tax Inspections, and the Ipeda External Service Office was changed to the UN Offices of Service.
