I thought app was great, but there is no cloud or auto backup. Buying extension only gives you the ability to manually back up. After this review, the developer contacted me... yes it was user error that I didn't read all the documentation & lost my entire dive history when my phone was damaged. Use of the app seemed straight forward and I didn't feel I needed to read all the documentation. My bad. My loss. Maybe this review will save somebody else from the same fate.
I just used this for my first trip since purchasing the app and a compatible computer (aqua lung i200c). 1st off, the app itself is awesome. I have no complaints really. The one thing I had issues with is the Bluetooth sync with my computer. I found that it was quite buggy and would sync successfully only ~20% of the time and was never successful when using the only import latest dives option. Most of the time the computer would show BT sync on the screen but it would error out in the app.
Original: Works well so far, supports my dive computer and is easy to use Now that I've been using it - upping to 5 stars. Switched dive computers (still using my original as a backup) and adding the new computer just worked seamless. Love not having to switch apps to switch computer brands. Migrating to a new device was a breeze via the g-drive exports. Really is a complete dive log - my go to log any more. Wish list for the authors, but minor points IMO. 1. some way to copy details from one dive spot to another and edit the differences rather than writing from scratch 2. Way to save dive centers / dive masters used frequently (just like saving buddies or something). 3. way to copy from one device to another off-line (no cloud).
I like the app, just haven't been able to get an answer from support for over 2 weeks. For whatever reason most all the diving related apps are horrible... this one is actually decent when compared to others out there. Still plenty of room for improvement. A little pricey but if they can keep updating it, it will be worth it in the long run.
Changed phone from LG V40 to LG V60 and cannot get any of my extensions or user data to transfer! Have been at this over an hour! Setting a user birthdate is, by far the biggest PITA I have ever seen! It defaults to Mach 17, 2018 then you have to tap the back arrow or swipe repeatedly until you get the date you need, in my case, all the way back to 1957!!! How hard would it be to make the data directly keypunch able, as it is for all the other user information!?! The app is great if you never change your phone, but heaven help you if you do!
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I really want this app to work, but it's been pretty hit and miss. Originally the support was good, but there was a dry spell and I thought they stopped supporting it, but recently I did get a response. EDIT... OK I feel like a dumbass now but I have been saving all my info to the Scuba Diver Example.....all of my info is there and I think I am getting the hang of it. I have changed my rating to a 5 star. For those interested I have an Oceanic pro plus 4.0
I like the use of this app. It is intuitive and easy to navigate. One bummer, my previous phone died and I was unable to retrieve any data from it. That included loosing the 20 dives I did over the previous year in Hawaii and Greece. Cloud based backup would be awesome.
I have a new Oceanic Pro Plus 4, with 8 recent dives. Downloaded this app and purchase the transfer pack. The sync and log transfer doesn't work even with the paid transfer pack. It always times out at around 49% and never get all my dive. What a useless piece of junk. I want my $ back!
Had an issue syncing my dive computer and reached out to the developer. He was able to fix the bug and update the app. After that, it worked great. I wish there weren't so many microtransactions, or it allowed me to share them with my family, but otherwise, I love the app.
This app is good, but I need some support I bought the data pack to transfer my dives between my old phone and new phone. But the pack is only showing up on my old phone and I can't import them into my new one. Do I have to buy the pack twice to transfer dives? This was really unclear if it was the case.. (Happy to edit review stars if this is resolved)
I'm trying to digitalize my log book from dive no1 to now and manual entry is a b****. Max depth and bottom time is horrible to enter, after all the trouble on entering the details I need to try to scroll up my navigation bar cause it always auto hide, and while trying to scroll up it will always type something
Thank you, I was able to transfer data. However I have few other issues. I cannot change my computer in diver, and on some dives some controls are not editable. For example cannot select water type for my last dive.
Downloading dives from your computer takes all the drudgery out of updating your log. The app is well thought out and easy to use. There are many import and export (backup) options. The developers were responsive to my requests for importing from my old dive log format.
One of the better divelog apps and the one I primarily use. Some features that would make it even more awesome: 1. Add a "trip" field for dives and sub-group dives into trips in addition to just month. 2. Sub-group dive sites into region in addition to just country. 3. Possibility to set a default tank size/type 4. Possibility of picking DM from buddies catalog 5. A boat catalog similar to buddies 6. Statistics on dive sites, buddies. i.e. how many dives I have on a dive site/with buddy etc.
A few good features but a the interface design is a bit dated and clunky. I'd like to provide some suggestion if possible
I love this app. Use it as my primary dive log. I am an instructor and take pictures of my students in the long with each dive as well as have them sign my log book. Demonstrates the need and desire to record dives. Wish it had a decoompression dive type. I use it with Perdix AI and Teric and have no problems with transfering dive data.
Looks nice but that's it ! In one word "Rubbish" terrible trying to make a connection with my Shearwater Perdix, and once it's connected it does not transfer half or more of the dives, really not worth the bother, better staying with an app that works, "Subsurface"
Picked this up to use with my Mares Puck Pro. Using A USB OTG adapter and it works great. While in cozumel I had my dive master sign my log and he was dumbfounded with how easy and detailed it was. The only thing I need to figure out is an easy way to sync devices and backup with Syncthing.
Update: Changed to 3 stars w/ latest update. BT works now. App would not establish a BT connection between my Aqualung i200C and my Galaxy Note9 even after purchasing the "Saving Bundle" which includes the Transfer Pack. After trying all obvious remedies and those suggested by the app I sent a very detailed email. A short series of emails followed asking for the same information provided in my original email. My request for an update on a solution or a full refund has gone unanswered 4 days now.
Great app. A huge feature addition would be to allow keyboard entry of dates instead of picking from a calendar. I have historical dives going back to 1995 that I need to manually enter and scrolling through the calendar that far back will take forever.
I have purchased this app on 2 phones. My wife's app shows she has purchased but cannot sync dive logs. Mine worked until I got a new phone. Now it shows I have not purchased and no longer syncs. I have tried contacting DiveMate and have no response. Purchase at your own risk. Side not I was happy with the app until it no longer worked and never have my wife's device access. This was reported over a month ago with no resolution. Buyer beware.
Pretty good and versatile functionality for a portable digital log, but you may need to first purchase a support pack for your computer model. The interface is a little clunky and crowded, but it has fields for most recreational and light technical uses. I still keep a paper log as my primary, but I get my profile and air consumption from this app as my dive computer-watch does not display them.
