DocSearch+(search filename & file content)
When you first use DocSearch, it requires that you create indexes for your phone. These indexes allow DocSearch to quickly look up files by keyword.
Enter one or more keywords to search for in the text field on the top left and press the search icon on the right side of the text field. The search results will be displayed in the result pane.

So far so good! It gives you a chance to uncheck a lot of directories you don't want/need it to index before it does so. Go ahead and grant access, then uncheck some boxes (like music streaming services, private DCIM pics, and anything else you want private. But that is pretty obvious it walks you through each step. Very applicable umm.... app(?) 😉
Just got the standard subscription. It's sufficient for my needs, and I like supporting great software; $4.50/yr is really not that steep a price. This is a valuable, original, programmed app, unlike so many template-based ones. No-one's work should go unpaid. I have all my recipes on my tablet, in various document formats; with DocSearch+ I can quickly search them all by ingredients. Thank you, Li Jane!
This app does not glitch. Does as described. Has helpful instructions. Needs imo automatic text extraction from images in order to index jpgs etc by ocr and to allow you to create desktop shortcuts from image files. Previewing word occurrence in doc shouldn't be premium. Use ads for revenue instead ;-):-P
A very powerful ctrl+f in all documents on your iphone. Its function is similar to Adobe Acrobats function to search in all PDFs in a given folder. However, this app searches in more filetypes than just PDFs, such as .docx, .rtf, .txt, .xslx (excel) and much more. In the free version, you can only look up search results in the first three documents. The very big downside is that the developer now requires you to pay for the full app in the form of a subscription ($ 2 - 10 USD per year). If it was a one-time purchase, I'd go for it, but not a subscription.
Finally!! Just what I needed! I had not been able to find an app that searched WITHIN a file, not just looking at filenames. This is just what I had been looking for. Now when I can't remember which file contained what I was seeking, I can find it quickly and easily with this app. It saves me SO much time and frustration. Kudos to the developer!
Aap is good. very nice. however there is one thing I did not like. Every time when I open app it shows result for previously searched word. kindly fix this issue. Give option to not show previous result while opening the app. otherwise it is a very nice app. thanks.d
Got the premium version. Works well. Wish there were an automatic indexing update feature. Wish I could pinch enlarge the screen. The script produced is very tiny. Additionally, I bought the app for one-time price, but now will no longer have access to upgrades unless I subscribe? A one time price is a contract that guarantees that buyer has lifetime access to the app and all its upgrades with no further charges. New buyers may be forced to buy on subscription not previous flat rate buyers.
While the developer has the right to change to a subscription model, I have the right to not subscribe to it, specially because I have already paid for the app and it is working and fulfilling all my needs as it is now. Sorry for that but I will no longer take any further update then.
Awesome, feature rich, and fast, indexed search utility especially if you hoard large volumes of files in various locations (and in various formats) stored on your phone!
Too fiddly to set up, and too techy. I'm fairly tech savvy for a non-professional, but was guessing at what some of the detail is about. Also, it's odd that the intro/tutorial is given as an image rather than text - too small to read on the phone, and zooming in doesn't wrap - very hard work to read it. This app could be useful potentially but needs a lot more sensitivity to user experience. eg indexing is requisite, so make it happen automatically instead of having to do it manually. Etc, etc.
Good when it works, but it rarely works. Crashes frequently, indexing can freeze, the UI has several performance issues...
This is criminally under-rated. The interface is a bit arcane, but functional. Underneath is by far the best content search tool I've found on mobile. Supports boolean, variable proximity search & stemming. Can also configure the amount of context text shown around matches, which is very useful indeed. Filter options being a pro feature is a bit of a downer, but on the whole, $8 is a perfectly reasonable price for such a useful app. Only true negative is the inability to easily exclude directories from search. As far as I can tell you have no control over the filename search and the content search indexes are additive only meaning you'd need to add all your directories manually if you want to exclude a few. Other than that inconvenience, everything works as expected and WELL. If you need local content search on Android, DocSearch+ is the best I've found.
This is the best full-search app on the Play Store. Period. It has a few minor bugs on multi-window mode, but I'm sure the developer will sort them out. The ads are well placed and non-intrusive. It has a very usefull search History and also allows to run several searchs on different tabs. Highly recommended for serious Research Work !!!
I cant get this app to work. I plug in a word that I know is in many documents and it doesnt find anything. I cant make sense out of the controls, they are just a bunch of symbols. So I tried the directory symbol and went to a directory tree and it acts as though I am expecting it to open a single file. How can they manage to make a concept as simple as a text search across documents more difficult than building a rocket? This app is ridiculous.
Overall I like the app but have found some issues in the search function. It seems the app doesn't like special characters such as / - etc. For instance I have stories that show pairings as Name1/Name2 but when you put that in quotes eg "Name1/Name2" the app returns any story that contains either Name1 or Name2 rather than the shorter list of stories that contain the phrase "Name1/Name2". Hopefully the next version of the app will fix that issue. Other than that the app works really well.
Top-notch detailed local searching for Android. Nothing comes close to the scope and depth of this app.
Please, enable doc. format in this app, make it work! (The app only works with docx). It's the only thing missing! I bought no Ads version, but I need to work with doc format. Other than that, the app is very good!
Although I believe that this is a good search tool, I didn't use it, because its GUI needs a lot of improvements. As of March 2021, it doesn't adhere to Material Design 2, which is the default design language on Android 7 and higher. Please improve the GUI and add widgets for quick access from the launcher.

Great concept, best most powerful, document content search I have found on Android, but has major problems with search not showing complete results and with my 400 GB of data consisting of over 90,000 files. My Note9 really bogs down with no means of pausing the reindexing, so my whole phone seems to freeze. Have to uninstall to free phone from the huge burden, would rather just be able to pause reindexing. Wish results were complete, and internet drives like OneDrive would index. Very sad
Nice regex search, many many functions. If you have huge files with thousands pages, I recommend you convert to .txt and will work pretty fast. Also for the developers I would like to suggest: 1. an option to hide/show the results with Rich format like italics, bold, etc... In the case of rtf, doc,etc files 2. Small block note or clipboard in order to accumulate or copy and paste your custom text without change the app. 3. Option to associate a file with a custom icon
Really good app. As soon as i have some extra dollars i plan to donate. Straight forward, to the exact described point and multi(PRACTICAL!!)functionality. No usless cloned filler features or ads AKA nerve wracking interuptions. I have hundreds of thousands of files and this literally saves me days of work in a month. I think its just perfect. This is an excellent search app. Find any text inside your ebooks in an instant. It's a bit hard to set up, but clear instructions are given. It works on android 10 /11. Brilliant!

Good app, however I would like to see when I search within PDF's, then results are shown, then I click the result, it takes me to the page in actual pdf file. At the moment it opens the first page of pdf. Other than that, good app, happy to pay ad free version.
Amazing search app. I'm so glad I found it, and because of it, I can quickly find anything I'm looking for on my Samsung smartphone, including the contents of any documents --- which includes the entire Bible; which I can search for particular scriptures by key words. Very easy to use. Thank you for making this available.
I don't know why I can't update my review. The problem with strange symbols (looks Chinese) is not in all files with local letters. I noticed it on a file where there was also a smile icon inside if that was the reason, maybe a bug?

I can truly say this app is leaps & bounds above all other search apps. I never rate apps, this one is an exception. No other app does it as well as this. The user interface viewing the pics on play appeared to look complicated, but within 2 minutes I quickly understood the mindset of the developer and was wrapped with the purchased version. Text searches with phrase search for docs (Pdf, docx.. ect) is brilliant. Config chars prior & post text makes finding docs without having to open each.
