Dollarbird - Personal finance calendar

I used to love the app. It had a few small glitches and idiosyncrasies, but worked well for my purposes. After using the app for two years, they closed open access, insisting on a very expensive monthly subscription. I would have been happy to pay for a once off purchase or a much lower annual fee, but they are ridiculous to think that I'll be willing to pay that much every month! I have switched to My Budget Book, which I purchased and I'm very happy with the money I spent there.

Used the old version. Liked it but didn't quite satisfy my needs. Was excited for this version but the release got very delayed. Stopped caring and forgot about it. Then came back to it recently. Was happy to have it back. Even got my wife using it. Of course now that it is part of our weekly budgeting habit, it started crashin on my android phone. It's been a few days. I have the latest version. Still like the app but just don't trust that it's reliable long term.

Used this app for upwards of 4 years. I was willing to work around the 3 transaction restriction of the free version, but now added transactions won't synchronise at all and the app is essentially broken. It's a shame because this app was brilliant with its calendar view and projected totals, but given the issues I'll be moving to another app. *edit* credit where credit is due, the syncing issues have been fixed as of 08/06/21 for me

Great app so far for my visual craving brain that needs to see everything on one page. I can now see where all my bills come out and from what paycheck. The only downsidenis that transactions are not entered automatically like some other apps. I also just noticed that the app hasn't been updated since 2018? I hope that doesn't cause any problems down the line because I really like this app.

After using this successfully for a few years it has recently become completely unusable. Transactions don't appear, random balances of minus 45k!!!! Crashing continually. Having relied on this for budgeting and knowing what is coming up it has somewhat left me in the dark. Uninstall and reinstall made no difference and this is the paid version!!!!!

I really appreciated this app and used it all the time until the most recent update. After that, the usability took a nosedive. I have to constantly reload the app to get to my current totals, and even that only works after roughly the fifth time. It has become frustrating and almost entirely unusable. I much preferred when it stored the info locally, now it's practically useless.

Love the app, but future dates calculate incorrectly. For example, I can see the beginning of September in August. The calculation is correct until I change the month, then the calculation changes by almost $1000. This does not happen in the web app. Cleared data and reinstalled with no change.

I love this app and was willing to pay for premium access to keep it. However, the newest update has QOL downgrades. I have a lot of categories and the bottom row is cut off in the select categories menu, so I can't see the names of those categories. It's inconvenient that you have to click into the expenses box before entering an expense (before you could just start entering the number). When I confirm a predicted expense it makes a DUPLICATE so I have the erase the predicted one. Unfortunate.

EXTREMELY disappointed in their new limits! I've been using DB for YEARS to keep my budget in check and recommend it to everyone. Suddenly, and without warning, they've changed their free model so that users are limited to an unreasonable 3 transactions a day unless you want to pay $10/mo. They don't even offer a lifetime option. How is an app that's supposed to help me control my spending going to start asking me for money? Very, very disappointed in y'all, Dollarbird. I'll be switching apps!

Love this app - the calendar method is by far the best. However, a feature request: I need the app to be able to view multiple calendars at once (like the web app can). Until then, I'll be using the desktop version. oh, and a request for both platforms: add an ability to run a date search based on account balance range (i.e. show me all days in thr next 3 months that my forcasted balance is less than or equal to $100). keep up the great work, team!

The concept and execution of this app is brilliant. As someone who moved out for the first time it gives me insights not only on my budget, but also the savings I can have days, weeks, months into the future if I'm careful with my spending. Extremely simple and minimalistic but accomplishes a lot - it also does the basics really well. Despite the name, no currency here so anyone from any country can use it comfortably. Requests: Dark Mode theme, Widgets (even just 1 quick add expenses/income).

This is exactly what I needed. My pay fluctuates and I like to see what I will have inbetween paychecks. I didn't need anything that shows what I am spending my money on. I used Spendee for about a year before they upgraded and I liked their app. However, it is very buggy and doesn't update my balances so I changed. The balance update feature is great too! I have no desire to put every receipt or transaction so it's nice to just update my balance every few days and see where I'm at.

Simple is best, this app is great at just showing you an overview of what you have coming in and going out across the month. The calendar view is by far the best way to manage finances I feel. The only improvements I would suggest would be synchronisation between your phone's calendar and the apps and I wish transfers between the in app calendars would sync properly.

I've been a user for 5 years, and although I have been a huge advocate of this app, I'm so disappointed they have moved to a paid subscription model. Not to mention, all the updates have been glitchy - such as creating two separate categories for "expense" and "income". It was far simpler previously of toggling the "+" or "-" to indicate the difference. Also, their help center link doesn't work on their website and I can't locate any press release info explaining the shift to subscription.

I finally got around to replacing this app. Of course, it's up to the developers to use the cost structure that best suits them, so I understand why they axed the free version. I definitely would have paid a one-time fee to use this app, but the monthly charge is ridiculous, especially when you consider the fact that there are many other apps that provide basically the same functions (and more) while keeping their free model intact. It was fun while it lasted.

I LOVED this app....until I had to reinstall and now I not only lost all my transactions, but cannot add anything or do anything in the app. The "add" button is missing and I keep getting a "Something went wrong." error message. I have not heard anything back from developers yet, though I've sent in two emails now. Please help!

Amazing and simple app until they started limiting daily entries. I would have been happy to do a once off purchase to unlock the ability to add more entries, but definitely not worth ~$60AUD a year. It's a simple (and sometimes buggy) app, you're better off spending your money on a more fully fledged alternative that has a once off payment of <$10AUD for premium.

Nice and simple calendar for entering expenses and income. Not many bells and whistles. Too bad they are turning it into an expensive subscription app ($40/yr). If they kept a simple one calendar model for $10/yr, I would probably keep using it.

This app used to be perfect for an easy way to balance my checking account and manually entering my bills and spending in a nice calendar format. This new subscription system is rediculous, I don't need multiple calenders or users. There should be a one time charge for a single user vs a subscription for multiple users and cloud connectivity.

It was better when it was free. It hard to balance when entries spontaneously double. It's annoying that the format doesn't allow me to see the whole list when choosing my categories. I do like the layout but don't feel that it's good value for my money.

It was a nice app until they started to limit your daily entries. I was using it to show a projected financial outlook after a few weeks. Now they have decided to limit free users daily entries. I'm not paying $9 a month to have 20 users and 3 calendars. I only need one. Very disappointed.
