Great nostalgia. Ironic that there's no way to play multiplayer, decades after late nights of using a dial-up modem to play with my best friend. I remember making mods and changing the sounds to movie sound-bites. The controls are almost there. Nothing beats a mouse and keyboard though. Otherwise, it's the real deal!

It's Doom, complete and with mod support just as on consoles and PC. Unfortunately, touch controls are horrible. Fortunately, I have a Bluetooth controller for my phone. Unfortunately, there are no settings available for sensitivity so accuracy in moving and aiming is a real problem.

Very good game, I'd recommend. But 4/5 because there is one slight problem, don't save RIGHT AFTER killing a boss, it glitches, and your save file will be broken. I need a way to fix this because I can't do anything right now because of this glitch, I am asking once again... Bethesda, please fix.

The graphics, sound effects and music are all fantastic and best of all, it has full controller support. I was skeptical at first, but to tell you the truth, I'm kinda stunned at how well this was ported to mobile. It's pretty much, just as good as any modern P.C./console port. Now if only we could get Wolfenstein 3D.

It's amazing. It takes a while to get used to the controls. It's quirky, a bit frustrating when you pick it up at first, but once you get the hang of it, man it's sweet. This is the real deal. No "looking up", no "high res textures", no nothing. Just the good old fashioned Doom, in all its oldness. Nitpick: when level selecting, could you make Hurt me Plenty the default difficulty setting? Thanks Bethesda! EDIT: Please, make the game go landscape without need of phone settings. Thanks.

Just played through the first level. Bethesda did a beautiful thing here with the Android app. The video is clear and perfect frame rate. Controls are intuitive and it's nice that if you sit too long, the controls pop up( it answered my questions before I could ask them lol). The music is slightly updated but really stays true to the original. At a dollar a star, I give it five out of five.

The controls are crazy. Maybe it works better with a controller, but I found the on-screen controls are almost unusable. First two levels could be done, but with more than 2 enemies on the screen the aiming takes too long. The sensitivity setting is there, but it feels like the choice is between "goes super fast" and "starts slowly then goes super fast".

Overall the game is a really fun experience. It is just like the original and the controls are alright, however there is a bug that will not let me load my game saves. Whenever I press "Load", the game either crashes or freezes. In my opinion, this ruins the experience. I have heard other people have had the same problem. If you fix this bug, I will update this review.

Been a big fan of Doom for a long time. This is a great port for some quick demon slaying. If it had controller support, it would be 5 stars without hesitation. Controls are still usable, it just gets frustrating during intense moments. On my Chromebook, the wasd keys work for movement, but no keys are mapped for aiming or shooting. It's actually more convenient to play on my phone. Overall a great port and still a fun game after all these years. Edit: Bluetooth controller support added, 5 stars

This is DOOM. It plays nicely (as it should for a nearly 30 year-old game), but sadly... I think this game hits below what it could. You can't move the interactive buttons from the left side of the screen to the right. I don't know what kind of monster-mash hand they expect me to have, but I really would like to move the buttons around at the very least. Also, sometimes 'always run', despite being turned on, sometimes stops. I don't even know if it's a glitch or if I did something.

Having played many versions of Doom including the original it is nice to see it finally come to mobile. Controls take some getting used to with the touch screen but otherwise everything else is intact. If it wasn't for that the game would hold up as still one of the best FPS games ever. hopefully the controls get tweaked but still worth getting for the price.

How a AAA developer are able to mess up something that has already been done by fans is beyond me. I played Doom and Doom 2 through Freedoom original on mobile and they are silky smooth with great controls. The controls in these releases however are abysmal. Double tapping and then holding the screen to shoot randomly doesn't work, meaning you often shoot a single bullet and then stop. The looking mechanic is unbearable, as you will often continue to spin after you stop sliding. Terrible!

I absolutely love doom. It is one of if not my all time favorite game. Unfortunately the controls for this port are not very good to use with my Note I am assuming it would be a similar problem with any of the larger phones. The use button needs to be made larger or moved from the middle of the screen to the sprint button with a toggle for sprint.

Please update the control scheme, it would help to have buttons on screen and not rely on double tap because that is not working 80% of the time. there are free fps games on android that work very well, even with the touch screen, there is a lot of room for improvement. the acceleration is not working very good as well.

The controls ruin this. The game looks nice, sounds nice, and runs smoothly (Note 9). The second you get the thing in your hands, however, it's a terrible experience. Turning is awkward, and actually managing to properly aim at enemies is a project in itself. With clean controls, this would be an awesome game to have on your phone. As it is, I'd rather play the GBA port over this.

This game is great, just one thing that I'd love, more customizable options. Like being able to move around the joystick and shoot button, making the joystick stay in place, and changing the sizes of them. Another thing that could be added is, multiplayer. Multiplayer is essential when it comes to doom, it doesn't need to be added, but I'd be an insane edition. Thank you for spending time to read this, have a good rest of your day.

This is honestly a great way to experience DOOM nowadays! Though I will admit that the touchscreen controls are a bit akward to get used to if you're used to games like this on other platforms. The game works great with my PS4 controller, though occasionally the inputs will get stuck for a few seconds, but it isn't that much of an issue for me, but I hope the guys at Bethesda will patch this up soon. Overall, It's still a really fun game to play despite its minor quirks. I'd definitely recomend!

The game doesn't lag, runs well, doesn't drain my battery incredibly fast. I had a lot of fun playing it and didn't see any problems. A lot of people are complaining about having to log in or create an account but you just have to enter an email address and you're done forever. My only complaint is you shoot snd aim with the same part of the screen making aiming difficult at times.

It's not easy to play unless you have a mobile controller. You have to look around by moving your finger across the screen while also using one finger on both hand to move and shoot. If you have 3 hands, then this game is great, but I don't have 3 hands. Other than that, the game actually runs now and it's pretty smooth. I'd say it's a good port, but unplayable unless you have a mobile controller which I don't and probably never will. I wasted $4.99. look up gameplay for yourself before you buy

This is a phenomenal arcade style shooter and is very reminiscent of the arcade shooters I played in my childhood. I never played the original version, but the port is very easy to pick up and play, but is extremely difficult on higher levels so if a new player I recommend playing on the first two difficulties at the top. This game has a lot of secrets and can be hard at times, but overall an amazing game that I highly recommend if you like arcade style shooters.

Really wish there was some more options for the layout of the touch controls. Optionally make it so that you can use a digital pad instead of an analog joystick for movement, setting the ratio line for where the move/look controls split from each other, etc. Little things that would generally be considered a universal default for just about every mobile game [FPS & 3rdPS mostly] that involves dual-touch controls. Other than that, it's DOOM in your pocket; no phone should be without it.

No longer working after updating to Android 10 on Pixel 3 XL. I uninstalled, reinstalled. Put airplane mode on/off with no avail. I'd give it a solid 4 if it was working again. It was fun when it was working even if the music tempo was slightly slowed or arranged it still sounded and played great before Android 10. It hangs on an all black screen now.

Runs well on Pixel 2 but the controls are so utterly terrible that it ruins the experience. No excuse at all given how well FPS games can play on mobile with on screen controls. Currently a real disappointment. Edit: also discovered that it doesn't support an Xbox type PC controller that's connected via USB. So poor. Latest update: still terrible controls, no options to show them on screen.
