I love the Dots games. I feel I'm good at them. This one however, I feel like not enough turns are given, not enough turtles drop, and most levels seem impossible to get past without paying. Challenge runs are particularly frustrating. If you don't complete all levels in one run, you fall back to the beginning. I prefer the Rewind challenge in Two Dots where it saves your spot if you beat a level. I don't dislike Dots & Co, but I feel like it shouldn't take unrealistic turns to beat a level.
Been playing for years, and have completed all 550 levels. The game has been very fun and challenging since the beginning. I love how there's absolutely no ads! There is the energy cool down, but this isn't much of a problem, just need to wait for more energy, or play the challenge runs. A wonderful game all around, I hope they add more levels. They also have wonderful customer service, and quickly helped when I hadn't received an award. Truly 5/5 game.
I was really enjoying this game until it became clear once you start getting past the intro levels it is near impossible to make it past a level without boosting your companion - which is impossible to do without paying. I understand games need to make money, but it makes it incredibly frustrating to play when there is no option to get through levels without paying.
This game is addictive, fun and... relaxing. I absolutely love the music of each level and it has really kept me sane over lockdown and beyond. Pop ups are few and even though there are in-app purchases, it doesn't get in the way if the game itself. They've really got the balance just right because I have quit many games like this before due to an overload of pop ups and upsells; I would rather buy a game outright than do play-to-win. Also, kudos to the UI team and illustrators for great work!
Great for killing time, and the levels and power ups are interesting and gimmicks makes the stages dynamic. But I do feel that some power ups seem more useless than others. E.g. Andria and the ox (clearing around like 10 dots on average) appear to have a weaker effect than say Anita (sometimes clearing half the board). Combining this with the inability to choose our power ups makes some stages frustrating to clear. Because you know that even if you charge the power up, it won't do much to help.
Relaxing strategy game with equally relaxing graphics. Levels are sometimes ridiculously difficult and takes multiple days of trying to pass a level, this my 4 star review instead of five. It feels like winning those levels requires a good beginning board instead of only applying a winning strategy. I'd recommend this get to anyone who is looking for a game to play while listening to an audiobook. It's really great.
Cunning algorithm. The game is extremely fun and calming, great job there! However, they trick you with a dopamine addiction curve and then makes it nearly impossible to get past the levels without using boosts, which is not possible to get unless you pay for it. You eventually end up passing levels after several days.
Everything works fine and the game itself is pretty addicting. However, the difficulty of levels is pretty unbalanced later in the game (most levels will only take one or two attempts, but now and then there will be a level out of nowhere that takes ~30 tries to complete). Another example of this is the challenges (they used to be too difficult, but lately they've been so easy and only take one or two attempts). Also, sometimes it autocompletes a sequence of dots when I didn't want it to.
Starts out fun, but quickly gets too hard to beat without boosts. I've been on level 88 for over a week now and haven't even gotten close to getting past it. Their "events" are much the same with the first/second levels starting easy and then the third is impossible. Then when you loose you get bumped back down to the first level again. More frustrating than fun.
I absolutely loved Two Dots and had endless fun with it. It was enjoyably challenging and you were able to get through most levels without paying for powerups but they were nice to have every now and then, so I didn't mind buying some. But this one gives you NOTHING for free, and the levels very quickly become impossible without paying for perks. It also has much less variety than the previous game, in terms of game modes. Less content, worse gameplay, AND trying to milk you for cash? No thanks.
The game has lately lost its "fun factor". I get that is supposed to be challenging, but sometimes there are just un-winnable scenarios that are impossible to get past without spending $100 to win ONE level. Boosting companions doesn't always mean a win, either. The turtle levels are unforgiving in that since they move after every move you make, they sometimes completely screw you over or if making moves, leaving you to make connections that make no real progress. Each level also gives you an extremely meager amount of set moves, so it makes some levels truly impossible without luck and/or a loaded bank account. I'm just wondering how something this hard made it past play-testing.
I've been enjoying this game for a long time (addicted, actually). However, with the latest update, it now sometimes doesn't actually clear all the dots of one color when you clear a square. It buzzes just like usual, but leaves all the other dots there. It's just random when it works and when it doesn't. It's infuriating. The game's essentially broken if the doesn't work.
The basic design is ok. The flow of the game is good, and you can get to about 50 levels in before you hit a wall. Before this point, you can win most levels with skill but eventually it's random. You either need to pay for boosters that help you win or you need to be patient. This is one of the best examples of all the terrible game developer monetization tricks that are used to squeeze money out of you. Avoid until this game is fixed.
I liked Two Dots so tried this one. It was disappointing in several ways. Sometimes the graphics are too wide for the screen and get cut off at the edges. But the worst part is that many levels are not just difficult but actually impossible without buying boosters. For example, a level may require you to collect 10 turtles but will only put 6 turtles on the board unit the last move when you have to use a booster to get them in a single move. I like a challenge, but no win scenarios are not fun.
Don't bother with this one. It starts out fun, then quickly dissolves into redundant and boring. The boards don't fit on my screen which affects game play. You can't advance unless you purchase either more energy or power ups. Unlike two dots, there is nothing for free, no other side games to play, no way to acquire lives or power ups. With two dots, I'm willing to pay for those things occasionally, but this game is too slow and frustrating and feels like a money grab.
Don't waste your time. Fun for a while, but just as you're getting into it, you encounter impossible levels where the challenges are unattainable. In level 228, 40 balloons are required, but in weeks of trying to achieve this level, the game has never offered more than 34 in the allotted moves. That's not a game of skill or luck, and certainly not enjoyable.
This game is actually fun. Its very RNG, so your going to have to start over alot just to complete the puzzles. I like the difficulty. However, connecting your attempts to an energy bar is pretty sub par. This is puzzle game. Puzzle games, shouldn't have daily lockouts, or timed gameplay. Because your trying to figure out how to solve the puzzle. So your going to need to start over and over again to get it right, and to get 3 stars. So if you remove the energy bar, the game would be 4/5.
Some really nice features, I like it better than the original Dots. But it gets super hard quickly, which is obviously designed to make you purchase boosts, which I won't do. Also it would be great if you could choose which companion to take on a particular level, and when to release their special ability after it's charged.
At lvl 397 now and still going strong, without purchasing any upgrades at all (spent a total of $O). Many levels are certainly frustrating to play, and you do need to repeat it again and again, plus make use of the powerups that you get from the daily crates, or from challenges, to finally help you pass those levels. There's a trick to have unlimited chances to get through challenges, but I shall leave you to explore and find the loophole. This game really test your patience and endurance.
It's a nice game, but it really is just another micro-transaction money-maker. It gets good reviews because it reels you in slowly, and doesn't appear to need to pay to play for the first few days. But then it becomes increasingly obvious that you do need to pay to play - there are all the standard tokens, coins, tickets etc etc and only when you've slowly run out of the ones you can't get for free they start turning the screw. I don't pay micro-transactions so that's when I quit.
A disappointment compared to the previous versions of Dots. The companions make the game more random and less dependant on planning your moves. Winning a level depends more on luck than it used to, which is unfortunate, because the number of consecutive plays is limited an regenerates slowly. This way the game pushes you to buy powerups I'm a more aggressive fashion than its earlier versions. All in all, a random and frustrating experience, do not recommend playing this.
I loved the original TwoDots, where every level is winnable with skill. This game looks cute but from level 75 onwards I noticed it was impossible to win without boosters (1 free a day, but the rest is behind a paywall). The levels are pretty blatantly designed to force you to use up boosters and start spending money and that leaves me disappointed, thus deleting the game. I want a relaxing experience, not an infuriating system designed to get your money.
Addictive game but the constant need to pay in order to advance without +++ frustration is outrageous! The process with the gold mine is annoying in that unless you are planning on forking out more money, all of the gold winnings throughout the levels simply disappears thru the pile of illustration only gold coins & never seen again! To put it plainly - the competative thrill quickly dissipates when you have to pay for it.
Initially a very balanced game, I didn't mind having to replay levels to achieve them, but there's a system: several easier levels, and then a hard one, which isn't impossible on free mode with the daily drop boxes or you just need a lucky break. But it's cutely made, has a user-friendly colorblind mode, a fun art style and challenging levels
I'm a fan of the dots series and this game has a very fun concept with recruiting characters with unique abilities. Very cool art and gameplay, HOWEVER- There are some ridiculous levels that feel impossible to beat unless you use/buy items. I'll be stuck on a level for literal weeks because there just aren't enough moves to complete the level. I love challenge but I hate getting stuck on levels that aren't reasonably built. It's discouraging to the point where I'm about ready to uninstall...
