Seems to be a decent enough game but lack of proper controller support makes the game get old and frustrating quickly. Strange as the Trilogy supports controllers just fine. Glad I was able to try for free first so I didn't waste my money.
Updated review. dd4 in the palm of her hands. The buy now is shady but after xperimenting it is possible to perform all the moves. the key is to press the gaps between the jump / strike buttons on the pad. You can load progress by selecting story, options, then tap cycling off to the margin of the screen to select the stage.
GOD AWFUL PORT. - There's no controller support. Mind you, we live in a age where every PS4 and Xbox One controller can be paired with a cellphone, let alone the vast quantity of Bluetooth controller just for that one market. Unexcusable. - No graphic option. Most newer cell are extra wide and since the game screen is scaled to how wide (tall) your cell is, the game upper part is cropped. - The picture on the page are clearly from the PS4 port. They are lying to your face for a quick buck.
The low scores have been given by idiots who don't like to pay $1 or $5 for a great game. Looks like a game that would have fit neatly in the Sega Genesis library, not the NES. The graphics do look old-school, but more 16 bit than 8 bit. Be sure to choose the retro soundtrack for a more authentic experience.
Okay, I'm using the TOP recommended game controller for Android devices, Steel Series Stratus XL and the leading android controller is not compatible with the directional pad or stick? Where is the gamepad button mapper? Why is it advertised online as bt controller compatible if the number 1 leading android gaming controller doesn't even work? I DOUBT a generic gamepad will either . I expected classic console style gaming here. Not fully with the whole 3 bucks... fix it, or reduce the payment for fairly poor advertising in compatibility of gamepads.
Really lazy "sequel". I know its supposed to nostalgia pander off of the 3rd game but the devs do it in such an awful way. The pixelated graphics do give some good NES vibes, but then you'll see these really off looking textures that look like photorealistic images but pixelated it just looks so bad. If this game got the Streets of Rage 4 treatment this would undoubtely be amazing. 3/10, it relies too much on the nes days and has lazy graphics.
Use this as a trial to decide if you want a different version. DD4 on X1 or PS4 is glorious. This version drops the multiplayer and has wonky screen controls. It is playable, but barely.
I had bought this on the PS4 at launch and throughly enjoyed it especially in co-op. I would of bought and supported it again, but unfortunately to lack of full controller support and multiplayer (and not being available for Shield TV) I won't.
Would be great if they'd let u do more than one short chintz level before asking for 'purchases to play any other levels. Effing garbage. False misleading...horseshit
Great retro-style game. Please add Full External Hardware Controller Support and it will be perfect (because I can't fully enjoy this masterpiece with just touch controls!) I've already bought the full version.
I'd appreciate it if my character can make it to a platform after jumping...stage 5 or 6 i keep trying to jump to a platform and i keep falling in sludge below...can't get past that stage at all..like literally impossible.
Okay problem with the game is when you lose a level example level 5 you have to go all the way back to level 4 which makes it a lot difficult, although I already beat it with plenty of practice still hard as hell
Bought the new chapter in the series but the jump is tricky. Over all nice to see a 4 finally after finishing DD 1 2 and 3 on Arcade emulator. Looked cool from the stream I saw but tough.
Fun game. Great version. Button placement was fine too. Easy to control and only one payment! No ads or microtransactions!! Just one very fair price. Well done! 👍
Controls are too wonky to be able to have a good time, and it makes you pay after mission 1. If you want people to pay to play, just make the app itself cost money. Don't pretend like it's free, only to make you pay to play the rest of the game.
Please give make virtual button like a joystick controller . It would be very confortable to play this game.. and add controller support too.
No controller support. The controls are terrible. Double Dragon for NES from 1988 provides a better gaming experience. Where is the progress?
No idea how much the game costs before hitting the wall and can't really get discounted this way. I prefer the payment model of the other games of the dev.
Very bad controls. The graphics are also pretty bad compared to consoles. The enemies are lame and the combos dont work
Handled well, but it must have achievements for me to buy it, if not there's no incentive for replay there's no reason to buy it. Add play achievements and I'll purchase/5* with no hesitation
Gameplay not great but works. Played end of first stage and ask to purchase the game. I thought this was the whole game. This should be called a demo then.
Controller support is terrible, half working! Based on this game and the other Double Dragon game ported by .emu, I would stay away from anything ported by them.
No support for real controllers, lazy touch screen controls and too expensive for a game like this.
Just a teaser, scam! To get you to buy levels with real cash! By the time you buy the entire game, you probably wasted a good hundred on an 8 bit game!
This is awesome (nostalgic) game since in my console and now in my Android phone. Please release Streets of Rage 4 in Android too as soon as possible and pre-register too. I've been waiting a long time. Hope released in Android.
Is this some sort of a joke having to pay for it. Let me give you good advise Mr game owner this game is not worth paying money. Buttons are very small and hard to control. And it dont have the original graghics. This is a bad copy of the game.
Nostalgia of the 90's revived. And no! Those who are saying this game needs a controller they're wrong. It's completely playable and can be enjoyed to the fullest with on screen controls. If you've played double dragon 2 on the NES, then please go for this, you'll definitely love it!!
