Downwell

Fun little arcade shooter, with ugly old school graphics and a high difficult bar. Something very annoying that cannot be removed is the amount of personnal info the game wants to access, and that every time you start up the app, it requests access again. That is a pretty harassing behavior for an app I paid for... Not recommended because that last part.

Very much worth its price. Controls are smooth and responsive, gameplay is satisfying and fast-paced, and the graphics are attractive and clear. Some problems: When there's lots of particles, the game slows down a little. Even when the onscreen buttons are off, it's hard to see enemies coming. You 'bounce' when you hit the ground, which helps make landing on enemies less difficult, but can also prevent you from jumping how you would expect. Overall, I recommend this game.

The relaxing beginning. The intense entry into the netherworld. The unique music. The variety of each playthrough. The subtle silliness of some upgrades and the shopkeeper. The variety of levels. The uniqueness of the gunboots mechanic. This is a perfect game to play while waiting at the doctor's office. I almost prefer it to my desktop games. Thank you, Dev!

The game is dope but I wish the controls at the bottom could be moved lower. Either that or the game screen could be zoomed out some to make it easier to see what's coming. I have a large phone and even on that it's very difficult to tell what's coming with my thumbs on the controls. I don't want to imagine how hard it must be on normal sized or small phones. Being able to zoom out the game screen some would probably be the best solution.

A recommended game by me. It has nice retro music, while you fight all kinds of enemies. The different play styles, and palettes are also fun to use while playing. They make playing a tad more interesting. I liked the different upgrades which add the spice to the game; finishing off the good game recipe. It 's so cool to stomp on your enemies, and make this huge explosion. This game may be hard at first, but it is definetly a great game, in my opinion.

Simple, intuitive, multi purpose mechanics make this a unique game on the app store. You jump to shoot and shoot to jump in this seemingly bottomless well of increasingly difficult hazards. Success requires twitchy reaction time and going with the game's flow, you can go down the well slowly but this will mess up your combos and gem meter. This is my favorite game I've downloaded on the play store.

such an amazing game - every play is different, and mini-decisions add a strategic element to this otherwise action-packed gameplay. The game is very challenging, but the progress is rewarding. oh, and the ending blew my mind. It was such a satisfaction to finish it. Now, onto the Hard Mode!

Controls placement is just plain stupid you can't see what is below because either the buttons or your thumbs are in the way. This is important because you are travelling DOWN A WELL. And hit boxes are off, fed up with taking damage when I clearly land on a enemy and it explodes on impact yet I still take a free hit. Just get it on pc or console. Bad and clearly not a very thought out port. Guessing the only optimal way to play would be with a controller, yet kinda defeats the point of mobile gaming.

Discovered this little gem during the latest PSN Flash Sale. So good, had to get it on my phone as well. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because physical controls are much better for a game like this (imho) but it's still surprisingly playable on a touchscreen. Great style (if you're into that retro look) and SUPER ADDICTIVE! This is really a game that has me saying "just one more.." and first thing I know, two hours have gone by. Highly recommended

It's hard (I still can't get past 1-3), but it's well-designed around the mobile experience. I love the pixel art and the many color pallete options. Plus it's out on the Switch now - gonna see if I can do better with real buttons.

Incredible game that i found out about through a dunkey video. I love the high difficulty. It reaches that sweet spot of easy to play but hard to master that every game has. The art is fantastic as well but i would recommend more types on gameplay as the concept od use one button yo shoot and jump could be expanded on more.

Yet again, Devolver has created a great game to pass time with. The controls are great, and the gameplay is fun, while challenging. The game is also rewarding, since it's easy to get all of the items. I've improved in this game in the past day I've played it, also.

Touch screen controls ruined it for me. This game is phenomenal, but MUST be played with physical buttons. Perhaps it would do a little better with an updated control scheme specifically for smart phones.

Love this game on both console and PC but mobile version really sours your mood. Controlls are too low on screen so you can't see what's coming up. Impossible to see through your fingers to know if you're in air or on ground. Not necessarily the game or dev's fault- just don't think this game works well on phones. (LG XCharge)

Very hard game but its a good and fun time waster. The controls are simple and feel great,tbe sound and visual design are top notch. Even if youre not good,the game feels amazing to play. Definitely worth it.

This is an amazing game, I am a big fan of the original version on steam as well, only issue is the controls, there should be an option to control the buttons vertical positioning.

Fun little game. Looks good, feels good, and plays good. It's extremely fair, as in you lose to your own mistakes, not bad game design. Simplicity done right. Would definitely recommend.

This game is as addicting as they come. My only issue is that there's only a toggle for the bgm and not the sound effects. Outside of that, this is a 10 out of 10 effort that I can see myself putting dozens of bathroom breaks towards.

Great game but I don't like the touch screen controls implemented here =/ The character control should be more direct with a proper analogue slider to determine the position in the X axis.

Very nice game but these on screen button controls are annoying. Would be much better to control left and right movement by tilting your phone. You should get the desktop version of this game.

Would have rated this game much higher, but ever since my Huawei P10 lite updated to Android 8, the buttons on this game have been sticking. A direction will get stuck and my guy will run into walls, or the shoot button will stick and he'll empty his clip. I imagine this problem is specific to this model of phone, so don't let my review discourage your purchase; but I literally can't play this game anymore

It's an easy to play and addictive retro type of game. The only things I would change about it are the audio options and the amount of stuff you can do or unlock in the game.
