DR CONTROL
- “VIA ROUTER” mode enables the wireless remote control operation by connecting your smartphone or tablet device to a Wi-Fi router installed in a studio or at home. Remote control is operable with email, map, or other apps and online services at the same time
- “TO DEVICE” mode allows direct, one-to-one connection with the DR-22WL/DR-44WL, and so the remote control function works in the outdoor environment where Wi-Fi router is not available
The Version 2.0 firmware can be freely downloaded on the TASCAM’s website or on the App, letting the users to update their DR-22WL/DR-44WL on their own. The TASCAM DR CONTROL app can also be installed or updated for free.

Will not connect..wifi is useless..ive loaded it 3 times & it will never connect to my brand new phone, w out wifi i couldve bought any other recorder for less..junk

Never used wifi until recorder stop working in rainstorm. thanks for wifi still works but only on wifi.
There is problem with app while transfer the file to mobile by wifi.pls solve the issue.
Please allow Copy to complete even if I switch to a different app.

Need new wifi updates
This was awesome until the latest version/firmware broke the WiFi. I have had this for about a year and used it to record high school chorus, band, and theater. The WiFi allows me to position the recorder near the performers and control the levels, etc. The recent update it now doesn't stay connected or if it loses connection it can't get it back again. I never had that problem before. I would love to see this fixed and then add 3 more stars. The DR-22 is still fine except for Wifi but I rated this a little harsher since it is useless if it is not reliable.
Terrible. Random disconnects and tried using different phones. Only works on one older phone which I was lucky enough to have spare. Their support just shrugged their shoulders saying it worked OK on their tablet!
Very disappointed in this product. Unable to maintain a connection from the recorder to the AP in router mode or to the phone in direct mode, making the wifi feature pointless.
Great to see continued improvements! The new WiFi as client feature is an excellent idea and provides a lot more flexibility by removing the need to be close. However there is some critical stability issues that cause the wifi client to frequently freeze making this new feature unusable at this point. !! Please fix soon Tascam !!
Worked great on iPhone. Cant connect to the dr-22WL on Pixel2 with error "cant initiate a TCP connection"
Worked intermittently on my old phone. New phone gives me "Cannot Initialize TCP” error. What is the use of WiFi functionality if it's buggy as hell. Do better Tascam, or this will be my last purchase from you.
WiFi functionality is zero with latest firmware and device will not allow rolling back to previous version.
It's almost shocking how badly written this app is! No background play and even worse, you can't run the EXTREMELY SLOW downloads in the background. Also defaults to streaming OFF! WHY?!?! It's like they hired a high schooler to write this as his first Android app! WOW! This is quite possibly the WORST piece of software I've ever used IN MY LIFE!!! ONE STAR!!!!
