Dr. Moku's Hiragana & Katakana

Loving this 😁💗 I purchased the bundle and there's no regret! I'm a baby learner still and this app helps me memorize the alphabet with the visual learning method, almost finished learning Hiragana soon! I'll buy the Kanji version once I master the Hiragana and Katakana first 👍🏻 Awesome job, developer!

Great concept, poorly conceived. The app freezes and crashes regularly. And instead of learning a few characters and then taking a quiz to test your knowledge, you go through the entire alphabet of flashcards (in the same order every time) and take a quiz of random characters. It could be awesome with some minor tweaks. I purchased the physical cards. Hopefully. Those will work better for me.

This app is fantastic for making a connection between Hirigana characters and the english sounds. The quizzes are nicely laid out with multiple modes like reading, writing and sounding (I find the sounding part a bit hard to understand personally). I use the quick chart alot for just that...a quick chart! Nice addition. Contacted the developer suggesting a filter option for the quizzes and he got back to me right away with positive feedback. All in all I highly recommend this app!

I've never studied languages with mnemonics before, I usually prefer more traditional flashcards. But after 3 weeks of constantly confusing only the first 15 hirigana, out of desperation I downloaded this app. Within minutes everything was making so much more sense, so I purchased the full version straight away. After two days of sporadic usage, I now know almost all of the hiragana and can read full words with relative ease. Totally worth the purchase. Thank you for a great app!

I decided to look for this app again after a few years since i first bought the app back around 2013 or 2014 when I first had Japanese class. It really helped learn hiragana and katakana really quickly. I decided to revisit it because i started to forget some of them and they added some really good things to it but its also more restrictive unless you pay for more... and i guess what i paid for all those years ago doesn't count for this version. Still i would recommend trying this app out!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Honestly, one of the quickest ways to learn Hiragana and Katana. Intuitive and easy to use. That being said, there is no reason for this app to still be a paid version. You are limited in what you get unless you pay, and although it is cheap, I don't think, based on the age of this app, that it should still be looking for buy-to-unlock features.

I really like this app, the visuals are clear and the pronunciation is good. The only suggestion I have is to add a shuffle mode to the learn portion. The characters are always in order and sometimes I'd like to go through them all in a different order.

This app is brilliant! I was sceptical at first, I thought there's no way memorizing pictures can help. My memory is awful and I've struggled over the last two weeks trying to memorize the hiragana sounds..I've been using this app for 2days and I can now read hiragana! The pictures really do help. Highly recommended!

Downloaded the app several years ago, back then everything was free. Now if you want more than 10 characters you have to pay $5.00 to learn the rest of Hiragana and that's frankly ridiculous. Fantastic mneumonics, colorful and accessible, great for new learners. If all of the content of the app was free, I would have left a 5 star review.

While the free version is a limited trial version, (with not all the traditional characters) the full version is excellent. Its exactly what I was looking for: a way to memorize characters and practice writing. Thank you!

Fantastic. I was sceptical of it would help me at first, but I've had more success memorising with this app in three days than I have had on my own in the last month. The memory cards in the app are clear, entertaining and show a good sense of humour.

My Japanese teacher recommended the app and for sure without I would still have to look up Hiragana / Katakana regularly. I bought the app directly so I cannot compare the features to the free version but the price is absolutely fair compared to Flashcards or other "free apps" that throw advertisement into your face after every second character. I can honestly say that I only used Dr. Moku for H./K. learning so 5 stars from my side.

I've come back to this app twice because of how helpful it is! Trying to compare and memorise the letters with the pictures has stuck to my mind well. Please give this app a try, it may help you out in the long run.

This app is great, but there are a few things that are off. 1)It makes you pay. Now I know that the company need to make money but paying shouldn't be needed for basic things like more vocabulary and etc. It's not helpful for younger people(like me)because we can't afford it and thus we can't learn it properly.2)The words you get are limited. The thing is that you only get to learn a certain amount of words making it difficult to read things fully. IHaveNoMoreSpaceButTheAppIsOkay(video good)

Excellent app for learning Japanese. It makes memorizing the characters easy and fun. I was able to sound out the words after a short while and I now feel ready for my upcoming visit to Japan. Highly recommended!!

Extremely useful and well designed app. I learned to read both hiragana and katakana in a week, something I never thought I'd achieve. The mnemonics are fun and really emblazon the letters in your mind. Highly recommended.

While it seems like a good app you have to pay if you want to learn more than a few characters. Also there was an error with the audio sound for "u", it was "e" instead.

This app is fantastic!°○°I would have given this app 5 stars but for me is the purchasing part, I understand that you need to make money and by all means go ahead,I'm young and i dont have a single dollar to my name So this makes it had for me but I'm not complaining. This is a great app i would definitely recommend this to all my friends interested in learning Japanese.

Excellent customer service. i had bought this app on my iphone but my phone died literally a few days later. After an email to customer service they worked with me to get the app for my android phone. i did the free version of it and had it for awhile, thinking i didnt want to spend money on a kanguage learning app. but during my self studies i kept referencing the tricks used in the app. it was then that i realised the usefulness of this app and am using it to solidify my studies.

I have been using "Dr. Moku" from the start. I also bought the PC version. I literally learned Hiragana and Katakana in 2 days (not one hour, thats not realistic) and i still use this App. It really encouraged me to continue learning Japanese writings. Imo, it's all you need for Kana. If you are just starting to learn kana, trust me, THIS App is what you want!!! It's worth eveny cent!

It really makes the kana stick in your head with ease. I had a great time learning using this app, it was worth every penny for the pro version.

I love downloaded this after watching his video from YouTube it's easy to memorize the hiragana and katakana but my problem is you need to upgrade it because the other characters of hiragana and katakana is not there

Limited trial version of 10 characters is free. The trial characters show it to be a quick and effective system for learning just as promised.

it can be great app if you add animations, like the background picture will fade away while watching the character and it comes again.

When I first bought this app, I could use all the features for free. Now it wants me to purchase it again to use the same features I used to have.

I spent a week memorizing hiragana the hard way, then I got this app to learn katakana. IT TOOK ME ONE DAY! One day in comparison to a week and people say katakana is harder, this app is worth it!! Please make an app for Kanji aswell!!

I'm glad, I found this app. This is the app used by my uncle before he worked in Japan, I borrow his phone and played it like a game. It's not annoying, it's like a game because the entertainment is 101%. Not boring, good app to learn and be active this pandemic.
