This is a great idea! I love how it's hands free and how you can play against friends and random users. I want to give it 5 stars, but it has glitches to fix first. Every time I play, I only hear 1 or 2 possible answer choices, not all of them. It's irritating. It doesn't always pick up my voice even when speaking directly into the phone speaker. I've contacted support & they said they're working on it. These issues get fixed & I'll change the stars to 5.
I have only done the free daily quizzes. The premium subscription is a little over-priced, imo. It's a solid hands-free trivia app with primarily multiple choice and the occasional open-ended question. Despite a lot of ambient noise, there's only been one time the app did not correctly hear my answer, on an open-ended question. The hosts are fine. I like the additional details on trivia questions after the answer is given. I could do without most of the "humorous" commentary.
Super fun & I always learn something on each show. I love how I can play along on a road trip or omw to work hands free. The game always gives an option of playing against friends with the app or a random opponent. The game keeps score for you as well. It's created to not interfere with driving while having fun. For all the trivia lovers like myself & those who love a good challenge, it's great!
I downloaded this app to keep me busy on an 8 hour road trip, traveled predominantly on interstates. Seems it requires a very consistent data stream to work, half the time I've used it it's either closing randomly or wont register my voice and just keeps repeating the same question. Don't especially enjoy the hosts, and the musical covers are sub par. The titles of the quizzes are very loosely related to the questions. It claims you are playing against other players, but I don't believe that.
Sometimes the audio wouldn't work. My other audio apps would but not this one. I would answer correctly but it counted it wrong. Then it would say the correct answer was the one I said. This just added to my frustration while I was driving in traffic. This didn't just happen on the free games. I work overnight and I needed something to keep me awake not frustrate the hell out of me.
I'm not someone who reviews things but I felt I should give people a heads up on my experience. I too have had the issue where there is a delay between the bluetooth and audio resulting in being cut off before answering, only getting 2 of the 3 multiple choice answers read back. Often times i answer correctly but I suppose the way i say it, my accent (being from Appalachia) or something causes incorrect identification. The questions are nicely done however there is too much dialogue between the questions. I also did the 7 day trial for the other games offered and was extremely diappointed. I LOVE music trivia however again the voice identification is wayyyy more off than the trivia. I will often answer correctly but it still says incorrect. If someone else answers it does the same thing. Recently I went on a road trip and discovered often if you say "Imagine by John Lennon" instead of just saying "imagine john lennon" you can get it wrong simply by saying "by". BUT that wasn't my biggest issue, the music played is usually not even the original artist or song which is confusing if a song was remade several times. All in all for free its just ok i suppose...
the app itself is not a bad idea I have issues with it cutting in and out because it loses signal extremely easily. also I am kind of unhappy that there is no way to turn off the notifications I tried going through the settings and you hit notifications and it just keeps on repeating that the notifications are turned on and there's no way to shut them off. I would like to be able to keep the volume on my phone on at work and not have to worry about a notification coming from the app.
Connection issues make the games unplayable. On trivia it disconnects AT LEAST twice a game. That's best case scenario. Then you have to listen to all the buildup and the same question again. If this app could fix that and add a bit more games, I'd be sold. I love the concept. Just needs some work.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the trivia, the subscription was not worth it... Which is a shame, because I loved the capitals quiz. ultimately, what had me delete the app was in fact that it depleted my battery and a matter of minutes. even with my phone plugged and to a charger, it would still suck the life out of my phone. it's very frustrating to have your phone turn off, even with the charger plugged in, especially when you don't know where you're going.
Updating review to change from 5 stars to 2 stars. The app takes over my phone and cant shutdown, even when selecting "close all" It even overrides Android Auto which I thought was impossible!!! If not fixed soon by update will have to delete to be able to control my phone again. This app makes the morning commute with driving my teen daughter to her school lots of fun with us working together (cheating?) to answer the trivia questions. Really like the app!!!!! Keep it up!!!! :)
I LOVE this app!Its exactly like a radio show- each day is a different, dated 'episode' of the show. The hosts are truly hilarious& I learn a lot of random facts.I was very concerned about drive safety, but it is completely hands-free; the screen doesn't even have to be active. everything is read aloud, and the mic captures your spoken answers.you're more distracted on the road answering a call. I open the app before driving, then never even look at the screen. No different than listening 2 radio
This is an awesome concept...a voice-activated trivia game that can be played hands-free. It works well over 99% of the time. Every now and then it won't recognize or credit a correct answer but that's minimal. They did try a tie-breaker but it didn't work and they apparently abandoned it -- it would be cool to have that back.
Exactly the kind of app that I have been looking for for my long commute! but sadly, 10 dollars a month is too steep. cant keep the subscription going. not sure how you arrived at that price point, but your are pricing out a lot of people. I mean, that more a month than Hulu, Amazon prime membership with Prime Video, Disney Plus, SD Netlix.... you get the idea
passes the time driving really well, but it mishears a lot of my answers and Mark's me wrong even when I'm correct. we've also had an issue playing the tune time part of the game where it will repeat and overlap on some songs, it also skips some or cuts me short when answering. slightly glitchy but still fun. I'm glad we got to try out the trial before actually paying for it because I would be very upset it I paid that much for something that only works correctly a quarter of the time.
I have been playing this game, almost daily, with my kids and we have loved it every day. Today, I was extremely dismayed to find out, without warning, that drive time is now a pay for subscription only app. Sure you can play for free for 7 days before paying, but to suddenly be asked for a credit card and presented a subscription option is a bit unsettling. Sorry drive time. A sudden subscription request right before Christmas just lost your at least 1 consistent player.
I love the idea of this app and enjoyed the three days I used it. Alas, I have decided to uninstall bc access to content is very restricted (especially on the weekends, no access) if you opt not to subscribe to drivetime premium. I do see the value of subscribing, a must if you want to use it during a trip, but its not for me at this time.
makes my commute to work enjoyable. I just don't know why it keeps asking me to rate this app, when my rating is already posted as 5 stars. also, like in today's quiz, the speech sounded like a tape getting eaten by a tape recorder. I had to reboot the phone and load app again. I had to reload app 3 times before the audio worked flawlessly
I downloaded this and read everything. The free trial is BS! If you sign up for this it charges your cc at least 24 hours before your trial even ends. So that is not 7 days. Also it sounds like if you cancel before the 7 days you don't even get to finish it. Not using this. I've never had any app do that before. As I've already uninstalled it. Not worth $10 a month when it doesn't even work correctly. I think it's a scam. Stay away for this. I'm sure there are free ones. That work better.
Very disappointed. I do A LOT of driving so I down loaded this because it looked like something that would really help me. However after downloading I find out that to access any of the content it is $8 a month. This is way too pricey for an app that only has a handful of categories, only half of which interest me. I will be uninstalling unfortunately. $8 a month is ridiculous. The free daily content has way too much chit chat
I used to love this app. I drive a ton and would play the daily quiz every day, even suggesting it to friends when the quiz would match their interests. I loved it so much that I even got the subscription and found a few other games that were good. But since the daily quiz is gone, I have canceled by subscription as it is not worth it to keep it. Bring back the daily quiz and I will resubscribe.
The quizzes are a lot of fun, and the hosts have fun with it, but the lack of options without a subscription are kind of a bummer. I can't justify spending $10 a month. I understand that developers / tallent have to be paid, but more options for us poor folks would be nice.
Great idea, fun quizzes! Only complaint I have is you only get 1 free quiz a day. It is broken up in 3 parts, but my drive is always longer then the quizzes. The drive home is so boring. It would be great if you had 2 quizzes broken up in 3 parts. One for heading to work and another for going home again.
I have used the trivia and the volume of the hosts fluctuates a LOT. It randomly gets really loud or really soft. Also, the tunes option, doesnt allow you to choose another game without finishing the current one. And overall the hosts talk way too much in the trivia game.
Awesome app! No sound issues and voice commands work great. I do wish there was a mode with no multiple choice. I feel a little cheated when having my the answer in my head confirmed. Doesn't take away from how good this game is though. Cant wait to explore the many games and stories you have to offer. Well done!
While Drivetime quizzes are spot on in terms of usability, the Tunetime quizzes could use some updated voice recognition, as well as additional programming to accept pronunciations that do not conform to the preprogrammed accepted ones, e.g., David "Boh-wee" (like Joey) is not accepted, with the preprogrammed pronunciation saying "Bow-wee" (like Howie). Other than that, the quizzes and "Would You Rather" are quite enjoyable.
This is probably one of the best apps every created! I just love the hosts, and the trivia is beyond fabulous! Definitely a great distraction from possible road rage situations! If I could change anything, I would add more open ended questions.
This app is awesome! I love trivia so this really helps pass the time on my 45 minute commute. It really is totally hands-free. I only took off one star because on occasion I reply with the correct answer but it is counted as wrong, which can get a little frustrating. That doesn't happen often though.
I can not recommend this app to anyone just on the sole reason that they haven't updated any new trivia episodes in over a year. While it does have just shy of 500 trivia episodes, once you complete that you are limited on what you can do. It used to be absolutely amazing, and I would always look forward to the new episode. Not sure why it ended so abruptly, none of their social media explains why either. So to people looking at this app, please look elsewhere.
Another disappointed user who only had the app for the daily quizzes. Just a couple of months after winning an award you go and render your app basically useless, it makes no sense. There was no warning or explanation, it just went away one day. I don't know why anyone would bother paying for a subscription to this now.
I love the daily Drivetime quizzes. I gave it three stars, though, for a couple reasons: 1. I play this in the shower rather than on the road. On the road, the game struggles to stay connected and has a difficult time processing my answers. Sometimes, I'll say the correct answer, but it will hear something else and count it wrong. 2. The paid version is garbage. $10/month is way too expensive for substandard games with awkward voice commands. The music quiz was unplayable. Stick with free.
