Free file manager IO File Manager must be installed in order to enable comfortable folder/file selection.
For these reasons, there was the conception of DroidCrypt based on an application orientation. This includes a higher assurance of the security and does not stop at the minmal permission requirements on Android level.
Already encrypted files can be sent from external applications (e.g. file managers) to DroidCrypt for further distribution to respective applications. In this way, DroidCrypt takes a mediating role by ensuring that respective files remain encrypted.
Alternatively to entering a password it is possible to draw a path within a matrix
- either through direct interaction or by rotating the mobile device while holding a button at the same time (if orientation sensor is available). This reduces the risk of spying out the password through observers.
DroidCrypt is available in two versions: DroidCrypt Trial and DroidCrypt. The trial version includes initially all the features offered by the full version. Nevertheless, the trial version differs from the full version as follows:
- Limiting the full functionality after a maximum of 60 days (trial / test period)
- Limiting the full functionality after 30.09.2012
- Display of advertising contents
After the trial period, the functionality is reduced only to the decryption of single files. This ensures that you will always be able to convert your data in an decrypted state.

The trial version is permanently "expired" and the developer does not reply to emails. Therefore, not much use.
First bug: If I encrypt a folder, any new files copied to the folder are not encrypted. I have to manually encrypt the folder again to encrypt the new files. The already encrypted files are ignored. This is not very good security. Second bug; I copied a picture to an encrypted folder. Before re-encrypting, I go to Gallery to view the picture thumbnail. The picture thumbnail is now cached. Even if I re-encrypt the folder (which encrypts the picture), the thumbnail in Gallery is still available for viewing. If I encrypt the folder before viewing the thumbnails in Gallery, then the thumbnails are empty. Third bug: The file names remain visible via any file explorer even after encrypting the folder containing the files. Only protection is that the files cannot be opened without a password. The file/folder selection is bit tricky. I wanted to select a folder on the SD card, the program selected entire SD card. The GUI is kind of unpolished.
I encrypted an important file with droidcrypt and decryption
I dont understand, how this app should work. Usability is very bad. Renaming the files, destroys them for ever.
Why oh why does droidcrypt not mark itself as able to handle .atm files? (The encrypted files it generates). This prevents opening by just clicking.
What a worth less piece of Junk, encrypted some files and it works the first time, but if you go back and for en/decrypting, the files are not encrypted although they supposed to be. And If encrypt them and then uninstall the this junk of the program guess what? you cannot see files because now they are truly encrypted!, You must then reinstall the program in order to decrypt them! What a trip. I'm glad I used the trial before I bought, otherwise I would be banging my head. Samsung galaxy tab 2 7..0

Garbage. This app couldn't be less user friendly. Description and screen shots are very misleading. Required 3rd-party app is even worse.
It works as advertised but it defiantly NOT user friendly. It is "over-plumbed". It could be much simpler and yet still function as advertised. My biggest problem is the fact that it works with only ONE file manager..."OI file manager". I prefer Astro. So far in trial period but that's what I have noticed so far. It works. It costs nothing to try. Try it and decide for yourself.
Does not work with current version of OI File Manager (it does not have "Open" action). And does not support other file managers, so it is completely unuseable.
Just downloaded to try before buying the full version. How do I encrypt memos that I created using the Stock Memo app that comes with the Samsung Galaxy S2? I can't find the folder that stores the memos. Help appreciated. Thanks

In trial period. So far it seems better than any of the other Android encrypts.
It doesn't show in the list of applications when long tap on file, so one can't open encrypted file from file manager.
Almost great, needs to be a bit more user friendly and needs option to temporarily decrypt a whole folder instead of individual files.
Cannot open encrypted file, make edits and re-encrypt with changes. Other than that, good program. Please add feature. I will update rating then.
Not a good app
Old version stopped working, app disappeared from market, I lost my files. Current version crashes instead of opening. Not useful at all!
After long time waiting, I'm happy to have it. Quick: encryption of 3.2GB of photos - 40 minutes only on galaxy S (internal SD), what is really good :
Large files "appear" to hang...nothing on progress bar...don't get impatient....wait it out. EXCELLENT program.
developer is fast to respond! Not quite fully working yet, but their communicating & working on it
The micro SD card I installed on my Droid Razr isn't recognized by this app, so I can't encrypt anything on that card. Waste of time and extremely frustrating. Uninstalled.
I am currently using 3 diffrent file managers and it alerts me to install a 4th because it cant find one. Please support more than one uncommon file manager and ill consider redownloading
... What a total utter pile of CRAP this is !!
Seriously an encryption software that need internet acces trust me... Not working on the one x either fix your bug
