It works just like an hp48 for everything I've tried. (I haven't tried running other software on it). One requested feature would be some sort of undo button. Since its a bit smaller on my phone, and I can't feel the keys on a touch screen, it's easy to hit the wrong button.
i enjoy using this since i have been a long time hp48g user. i do miss the authentic button clicks. one flaw is that the random number generator isn't random. every time the app starts the function returns the same sequence of values. maybe base the seed in current time or something rather than returning sequential entries in an array (which is what it seems to be doing).
I have 2 hp48's. Found this phone app and thought cool, now I have the calculator I know and use daily on my phone. Works well but has one big flaw and that is to stay in numeric mode. The default flag setting is symbol, so anytime you use a symbolic constant like pi, the symbol displays rather than the number. Sure you can convert it to a number with the "NUM" key but that's a hassle. The right way is to set the flag permanently in the "mode" menu which works but isn't retained when shut down.
Love the program when it works. I have a HP48GX and this saves carrying it, but the display get split and it is hard to turn on. Lately I have not been able to get it to work at all. Total freeze up, sadly.
I have used the physical version of this calculater for 10+ years. Once I learned that there was a phone version I downloaded it because using the base calculater on my phone was confusing. I now have the calculater I use daily for work on my phone. The only downside of the app is that I haven't figured out how to turn of the vibration when buttons are pressed.
I seldom write reviews. This app takes me back to the 90s and using RPN in physics and chemistry...and of course calculus, etc. I wish this was something still widely used as it is so much more efficient using RPN to perform calculations. My HP 48s recently gave up the ghost after almost 30 yrs of reliable use. y2k was the worst thing that happened to it. it died from battery corrosion that I should have had more patience in cleaning out. at least I saved the book. this is a true replacement.
I want to leave a rave review... but when i rotate the screen memory is cleared!!! GONE is everything I may have done!!!! That's utterly disastrous for s calculator app. maybe it's unique to my device, though. I have a stinker, a moto g4 (not the play edition).
Great emulator. Is there any way to create my own skins? One odd thing. The clock is two and a half minutes slow. It's not needed if you leave the phone's clock at the top but it's annoying.
Wanted to actually review this after using it for years. It works so well I don't even use my actual 48g any more. Awesome calculator app for those of us that are RPN snobs. For those that don't like the memory purge, you can set it to save your stack and memory in settings.
Usually 5 stars. worked perfectly for years on all my GS devices. Worked on my GS20FE last week, now it crashes every time I launch it. Not sure if it just updated. Tried reinstalling and restarting phone to no avail. will change back to 5 stars once it gets fixed.
Open Droid48 and it's like I'm back in engineering school. Just like riding a bike, a little shaky at first but then it starts coming back. I mostly just use it for addition & subtraction that I'm too lazy to do in my head (and for tax season I'll pull out the physical HP48GX for old times sake) but it's hard to pick up a basic calculator once you get RPN into your head. Oh, right, the app. It works, most of the time. Flakiness tends to be minimal when you have it set to clear RAM on startup but then of course you lose your history. But an HP48 on my phone, hey, I can deal with the quirks.
never had a single problem with this app until i tried to run Meta Kernel. Meta Kernel is nightmarishly buggy in this emulator. so basically, A++ unless you're an absolutely colossal HP 48 nerd like me. I do really wish it were possible to have two working installations of this app simultaneously so i can switch between 48G and 48S without changing a setting, quitting the app, and restarting. There's a dedicated 48S emulator from another dev, but its not graphically consistent with this version
Doesn't work fully on Android 10. Can't get to the menu because it requires a menu key, which Android 10 dropped. You can still use the 48GX emulation as-is, though.
RPN's most elegant embodiment. Toss out the HP hardware! Flawless operation on Samsung Note 9. Having had this app for a few months, I saw some memory issues on my Note 9 where the screen just blanks. Still great when it works. I finally ended up buying a new HP50g.
Somebody please, create a spreadsheet, or an add - in, that will let me use all the rpn, math, programming, solver and unit functions of this calculator per each mutually addressable cell in Excel. Or better yet, an "open source" spreadsheet.
Best Calculator, only thing that is a bit annoying is that it has some hangs when powering the "vitrual calculator" off/ doing a fresh start of the app I have to hit the on button multiple times to get it back working.
Been using HPs for years. Emulation is a bit quirky. Hopefully, there is a dedicated community that will solve anomalies that ensue due to the intrinsic challenges such emulation introduces. I hope all HP calcs are emulated for history's sake if nothing else. I've bought about 5 (mostly 48/49 lineage) over the years. It would be nice to be able to audit the Prime calculator before purchasing.
I loved this for years but after Oreo update (at least that's my guess) now pre-enter a 1 when you run the app. For example, if you run and type 5678, you get 15678. Beyond that, cleanest so it there, very slick
Entered a multi-page program, including sub functions and so on. All my work was gone when my phone lost power! Does it lose everything each time you shut off or reboot the phone?! If you fix this, my review goes to 5 star.
I've used this as a backup to my HP50 with quickclose installed. It has ended up becoming my office calculator. Works like a charm.
I just wished to that when I turned it off, that it would close the app ,😅 Also, no idea what's up with to asking about adds, in my mobile it shows zero adds.
Abandoned app. Worked great on Android N. On Android 11 it looks bad and doesn't work anymore. Too bad.
Very useful app, much like the real calculator. The only bug that I have found is that the Exponential function instead causes the Swap function.
Been a great app, I've been using it for years. Just now, though, the display went completely black and no longer functions. Not sure what to do about that.
Perfect emulator of a powerful calculator. the only problem is that it loose memory state (including programs) from time to time.
Seems to have a working HP SOLVE. But it always starts with "memory clear" , so it can't keep equations, or whatever, unfortunately. Lucky I still have the physical HP-48G, there is no android app that can replace it, yet.
I've been a fan of HP calculators since the '90s. Thanks for bringing this to Android! Now, if we could only simulate the wonderful feel of those HP calculator buttons...
My HP48 eventually died completely after decades of service. It was with me through different degrees and all over the world. This app is so awesome! Love it.
Function is as expected, and I love the nostalgic feel. I also love that there are no ads. Great app!
It's just like a real hp48. It's fast, complete, the keys work well. Every function I tried worked just like the actual calculator. I'm keeping it. Thanks for the great program! Update! For about a year I've used this app all the time. It is in my top 5 most trouble free apps. It doesn't need access to anything. The author has no ulterior motives. It's actually 'free'!
