I hate this app. Once you select an article to read, there's some kind of middleware that prevents you from returning to the app. I just sit there and hit the back button 10-20 times until the app finally shuts down, and then I can go back to read the next article. Horrible. Update on April 20: still horrible. So slooooww. I opened Drudge on my phone's browser, read a couple of articles, went back to the app and it was still trying to load. Don't waste your time!!
Navigation could be better. I'd rather swipe between the columns rather than scroll down or use the column button. It would feel more fluid. Additionally, the font size is rather large which means more scrolling than needed. As always the stories are great, this is my favorite news source. Keep working on the functionality and then it'll be 5 star worthy.
This app is simply not stable. While it technically doesn't crash, it freezes up so links don't work for up to 30 seconds. Issues of refreshing too often and constantly moving news links have finally forced me to give up on this app. Just go to the website in your browser. This app just doesn't cut it.
The app has become a real dog. You can go into the article fast, but it's app controls rarely respond when you want to go back to the main menu. I have to get completely out of the app and return. If there was another app out there for Drudge, in would be using it. If they don't fix the app soon, I may have to get my news else where.
The once proud source of conservative news has gone hard 'never Trumper'. Garbage headlines from questionable sources. Recently been looking like a year run of CNN+. As a site that doesn't create content, their only control of the message the order and placement of articles. It becomes very apparent after a few weeks of watching that this site is not a fan of the conservative.
I installed v6.0.36 and this app is still a flaming mess despite the developer's assertion that v6.0.35 fixed the problems. Seems that the developer's focus is on notifications, but for me that is the least of my interest in a news app. I turned all notifications off. There is no capability to reduce font size, which is huge and cumbersome for comfortable reading. It is much easier to simply access the website through a browser.
Several things. First the app keeps stopping or pausing. I use the most upto date Android on a Samsung S9 Plus. Plus. All the news articles are now scrambled. Overall. The news is difficult to find. Lastly. After opening the articles that link closes. Try other news apps to see if they work better.
Awful. The font is too big. The layout doesn't mirror the website. Utter trash. Great.. I can click on the website link and view it in a browser...if I wanted to view it in a browser I wouldnt have downloaded the app. Don't waste your time. Just visit Drudge on a computer. Disappointing.
Not good. Works for several days, then I get a blank white screen and I must uninstall / reinstall. This morning is the 3rd time in a couple months. Also: Seriously, it's 2022, can you stop forcing me back to the top of the page after I back out of every story???
I usually dont review the apps I download but I had to express my thoughts on this one. This is the same ol Drudge Report you come to expect. Big bold headlines identical to the desktop version but good lord the ads in this app make it completely unbearable. For every headline you click on there are not only multiple ads but terribly intrusive ads that will take up your entire screen in addition to each site requiring you to ironically accept the least private privacy policy I've ever seen.
You know where you lost me? Instructions om enabling one of the key features: Notifications. The instructions actually say, "First enable in settings. Then delete app. Reboot. Reinstall app. Tap allow." Um, no. My homepage on my browser is set to Drudge, and wanted the app for the alerts feature. But if you're going to do us Android users like this, to hell with you. Deleting this app and giving 1 star. Can't imagine you did this to iPhone users.
Meh App, Another AntiTrump Leftist Blog Not as good as the mobile website. After playing with the app my favorite feature is clicking the link for "Web Version". App is LARGE FONT that cannot be adjusted yet, which I found annoying. The 3 column nav button is unique but not as good as pinch zoom of the mobile website. When I need the AntiTrump perspective, I'll go to the mobile website. Mainly I'd use Drudge's collection of external references at the bottom. Those don't exist on the app.
I don't like this new app at all. The old app would let you pull up the story without actually going to the website that has the story. If you wanted to go to the actual website you could. This new app takes you direct to the website that has the story and it is a pop-up/adblock/subscribe nightmare.
Well, first of all, the Play Store description lists iOS instructions, so that's not a sign of an app developer that takes Android development seriously. Second, the ACTUAL instructions in the app to enable notifications are to: 1) Enable notifications in settings of phone, 2) DELETE app (???????), 3) REBOOT phone (???????), 4) reinstall app, 5) tap "Allow". Seriously??? What kind of lazy development is that? Finally, you can't change the way it looks, so the font size is gigantic on my screen. Not useful at all, I'll just stick with the web version.
I used to love this app for news. I don't know what happened, but at one point it seemed all they could do is post headlines about how much they obviously didn't like President Trump. WAY too much bias for a news organization. However the biggest reason for uninstalling is because I'm learning how misleading Drudge headlines are. They say one thing in the headline link, but then I'll read the article and the artical will say just the opposite. This has consistently happened for about two months.
So many reasons this app is awful. Almost worthless settings, and after updating to Android 10, I can't even get into settings. It's actually easier to read Drudge on the web through Chrome. Maybe that's on purpose.
Needs an option to reduce font size to minimize scrolling. Can't turn off notifications! I don't want them, can't stop them. It is much slower to load versus the third party apps I've been using as well.
It sucks. Other apps would show the article text only. This app takes you to popup hell on the actual news sites. Not phone friendly. The fonts and presentation are garbage. I've read Drudge for 10 years and they have eliminated the competition. I guess I won't read Drudge anymore
Far too many ads in this "news" app. Also the font size is way too large for phone use. Might be fine on a 8 or 10" tablet but not on phone. Cannot change the font size or ad option.
Sure it was sold and they report different stuff now but I'm constantly getting push notifications for non-stories. I get wanting to change the tone but I installed a news app not a gossip thread. Has potential but they need more news and less "slam peices" that miss the mark.
It's just a duplicate of the web site. The other knock-off apps include all the Drudge content but in a better format. I uninstalled this app and am sticking with the Conservative Report which tells me up front which outlets the stories are from, opens them within the app wich often allows for a bypass of pay walls and I have it set to tell me which articles I've already read.
Great until a couple days ago. Suddenly it wouldn't load at all. I uninstalled & re-installed still nothing. It just hangs on a white page with the reload button at the bottom. Weird.
All the third party apps that existed before this were 1000% better. Terrible to read on a phone. Doesn't provide a clean visual xp. Reading in phone browser is preferable.
Would be a nice app, but dark mode has never been implemented. Controls are clunky. Articles on websites like the Wall Street Journal usually allow web browser redirects through their paywall, but block the drudge app from accessing it. Finally, the content placed on drudge has declined in quality. Will not recommend.
Headlines just like the website. Notifications don't work. That's kind of the point of the app though is so you can be notified when there are new, important headlines. Whoever developed this app needs to get that figured out, otherwise there's no point in using it. It would just be an extension of the website with no additional value added. Update: Changed review to 5*. Now that the app is working as intended, it was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you to the developer for the response
Unpredictable. The page jumps so much that selecting an article is difficult, usually moves during selection often opening an ad. Preferred these sources for news through the years now can't be trusted. G'bye
I hate your app! Every time I read an article and go back to the main page to scroll more articles, the app tosses me back up to the very top. I complained about this 3 yrs ago and nothing has been done to fix this. One star only! Terrible customer service.
I barely open this anymore. Drudge Report has become entirely about covid-19. There's the occasional story shared that has to do with something else, but it's rare. If you want to be convinced the world is rapidly ending, download this app and use it. Since Matt Drudge sold it, this news aggregation platform has become pretty lame. I do not recommend.
The app uses up a lot of data, many articles don't load, and it's full of ads. This is a poorly designed app and I don't recommend you use it. Just look at the other reviews... It has 1 star - it's a junk app.
Drudge Report content aside, the App is riddled with bugs and performance issues. Most of the time you can't return to the app from an article without hitting back a dozen times or so. Sometimes loading the app just sits there and spins forever, forcing you to close it out or reinstall. I've sadly had to uninstall it and go back to the direct web page
