DS audio

**You must own a Synology NAS to run this app, and be running the latest Audio Station 5.4 package to get the complete set of features**
DS audio allows you to stream music stored on your DiskStation with your Android device wherever an Internet connection is available. Better yet, with the offline mode you can listen to songs stored in the device’s local memory for when no network connection is available. You can browse music by albums, artists, folders or genres, create your own playlists or share them with your friends, and even rate your music! And if you have dedicated stereo speakers at home, DS audio can also become a remote control to stream music to them.

I've been using this app for years, but now it really needs an update to fix all the issues. On my Pixel 6 (Android 12), the app freeze after few songs, and does not work correctly over bluetooth (it pause for a second every 30s or so). It's even worse with Android auto, as after the freeze the whole system becomes unusable, you can't even restart the app or use another audio app. Synology, you need to do something here, it's been like this for MONTHS!

Auto downloads music into device and soaks up all my storage. I have no need or want to locally store all my servers mp3 files on my device. I know theres an option for this but it makes no difference. Randomly crashes when in background. Appearance could be better with other themes and colors. But for the most part it's functional; should make these apps open source tbh.

Very disappointing. I love Synology, and I love my Synology NAS. This app however is simply not ready for the public. When it works it works fine, but if it plays two songs in a row without inexplicably hanging, I'm lucky. I literally have better results by navigating to a playlist link in a browser than using this app. I want to use this while driving, and when I'm driving I can't be picking up my phone and futzing with it trying to get this app to work. Aside from the MAJOR gripe that the app simply doesn't work, when it DOES play it shows my 500 pixel album artwork at about the size of a postage stamp onscreen. Synology get on the ball and FIX THIS!

The experience is very very unreliable. Sometimes it works, other times it just stops playing for no reason (on great WiFi connection) both in the middle of a song or in the beginning, making me force close the app to get it running again, its just ridiculous the lack of quality control. The app need a serious refresh, both visually and in functionality.

Synology's special sauce is their software. It's fantastic and easy to use. However, one critique I have for DS Audio that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is that the playback buttons are too tiny for mobile. Like, it's great on the desktop. But the buttons are very tiny on mobile. For my fat fingers, this is not optimal. Hopefully future releases of DS Audio will make for larger buttons. Have you considered an open source license? An army of volunteers could help with these issues.

On paper this app is great, a simple music player for your personal library. However, will randomly stop after 2 to 5 songs (though occasionally lasts longer) and more often the interface will freeze while the songs continue to play, and you can't even stop or pause it. Five stars if we can get over this stuff.

Outdated App! Bugs & Poor UI! Remove prompt asking where to save files everytime the app is opened. Fix bugs: 1. Shuffle feature plays same songs. i.e. I have a folder or playlist with 100 songs, the app chooses the same 2-3 dozens songs over and over, and never plays new songs. 2. Playlist have duplicates & triplicates. Each time I play a song it keeps adding it to a list. Update UI, make it easy to use. My wife had trouble with app compared to other apps (Spotify, Samsung music, etc.).

I've been working a case with Synology on playing 2 songs and hanging. My version is 3.15.2-472 debug 10. This version seems to eliminate the 2 songs and hang issue as well as orphaned files in your Mobile Phone Cached folder. I would hope they push out the new version soon. Extremely happy with this version of DSAUDIO. If your having issues, open a support case, they are very responsive.

Absolutely infuriating. Remote login can take 2 to 3 minutes and sometimes even longer, even with fast Internet connection at my device and the NAS, latest DSM and audiostation version etc. Lots of bugs (e.g. "remove all" command to clear the playlist doesn't work, problems when switching between local player on device and DLNA streaming). I've tried getting support from Synology but they've essentially just told me there's nothing wrong. I would not buy a Synology NAS again.

I would happily give this app 5 stars except that the Android Auto interface is not working reliably. Everything works great if connected via Bluetooth, but trying to control via Android Auto interface is impossible, it is seriously broken, locks up, repeats portions of songs, is totally unusable. Android Auto compatibility was one of the reason I chose Synology, so this is a major disappointment. Hoping an update comes soon.

It was a great app YEARS ago. Since then everything moved forward, android updated to new versions, other NAS brands introduced similar apps with far superior functionality and overall experience. Black theme? Offline by default? Useful stuff you won't see here. On top of that some android vendored versions are experiencing stability and functionality issues with the app. A major disappointment over time. The app kinda works, kinda has some useful features like android auto but more like exists.

Pretty much unusable. Won't grant access to download even if downloads permissions are set in Android. Won't play half the files in a playlist (but will play them individually?). It seems creating playlists in DSM works, but creating them in this App doesn't. I know it won't be flawless but it should at least work.

Music rendered through this app sounds better than with 3rd party apps. It is delivered at better timing with greater sonic depth - the closest to CD quality from my FLAC files. Unlike Hificast, (on Synology) I can search my library. DS Audio also shows album art on the screen of player, which Hificast struggles to do with many albums. Signing in to DS Audio was confusing. It only accepted main Account details even though it says QuickConnect details.

The app does ok. However, I am currently running into an issue where the app becomes non responsive in the middle of playing a song. Once the song finishes, it will not play the next one and I have to force close the app twice before I can successfully log in again.

Pretty good. I do have some functionality issues I'm noticing. Periodically, DS stops playing music and shows the playlist as blank. When I exit and re-enter the playlist, the songs reappear and begin to play again. I've also noticed when trying to access the library online, it will sometimes just show "no data", even when I have a great connection and I know the DS is online. Otherwise, I'm happy with the app.

*EDIT* I've been using my DS218+ for over a month now, and DS audio streams my music very easily through this app. The playlist feature is really nice, too. The only thing that's annoying is the app defaults to downloading songs you play, and the disable feature doesn't work. So when you select a song to play, it's automatically downloaded. When you try to disable automatic downloading, it doesn't work. Synology, you have a great device with sub-par apps...fix this.

DS Audio's quite easy to use, and - as long as the network connection back to the NAS is solid - works fairly reliably, even when away from home. However it has two serious failings: 1. It doesn't do gapless playback. This is a cardinal sin for any music player, and ruins the listening experience with many albums; 2. It's very weak at handling classical music, with inadequate filtering & navigation options.
