New update on 2nd May 2022 finally added all the missing settings and it's now a complete and useful app.
Great router, lousy app. I've used a lot of routers with parental controls over the years. Some were missing important features, others wouldn't work half the time. Synology router is a dream in that it's a powerful router with every parental control feature I need. But the app is half baked. To make matters worse, there's a Web portal one can use to setup & change parental control settings that's pretty good but this app is missing features or works differently compared to the portal. Why?!?!
The one function I needed isn't available, the option to disconnect and connect to the Internet. Lately I've been experiencing disconnects and the auto reconnect of my router fails after one try but if I try again manually it reconnects. But I need to use PC to do this and I'm not always in front of one and the family is getting frustrated, so please add this feature pronto.
Seriously looks dated. Features and functionality of the application needs updating. Apps like the Google mesh wifi and links velop app leaves this app in the dust. I love my synology router and mesh devices but an update to this app could make the whole technical solution perfect. I've owned a synology router for three years and this app has never evolved. Come on synology. You make great software for your NAS and Routers. Make this app great.
I've about had it with this router, and this app. I know what I chose for a password, but it doesn't work, and the real irritant is that after you can't login with your known password, you're never given a goddamn option to reset it. Seriously pissed off about this. Entered the pin from the bottom of the router on my PC, and it says incorrect pin and won't log on.
An unfinished App with few options for an expensive router with a ton of options. I should have bought the Google or Amazon router, their Apps allow to setup everything from your phone. (The Synology web interface doesn't work on phone browser)
Wanted to love this and although it does work & provide more information & control over the router than any competitors, it falls short with the basic tools to manage your network effectively such as the ability to change your DNS settings or other settings as well as view stats or reports etc... Much of which gets cutoff with no way to scroll or zoom to view the content in full which is frustrating. Basically you must use a desktop or laptop to manage effectively can't use mobile browsers.
Can't do initial cable modem connection setup. Fails on last step every time! Then, when you try setup again it's failing immediately because setup had already been done, but SSID is still at factory, not what I set it to do it's not done. WHY EVEN PUT THE APP IN THE SETUP INSTRUCTIONS IF THE ONLY WAY IS A BROWSER INTERFACE???? Needlessly frustrating, should have disclaimer in app to not use it for first setup.
I like the App because it offers a general overview of the router and connected devices, I wish it had more features in the WiFi settings, like ability to change WiFi power and frequency channel and as you have to login to the admin in a computer browser to make those changes.
As others have said this app is fairly basic & doesn't allow the user to acces all the features of the router. No.1 on my list would be to see the state of the vpn connections & have the ability to turn them On & Off...
Limited in functionality, but it works. I'd love to see some control for the smart WAN included; at the moment one of my ISPs is having issues and it would be useful to be able to fail over from the app.
I was expecting more from this app. Very basic information and administration. I can't even change the wifi bands or dns from the app. More feature should be added so that this can really be a tool that adds value to the RT2600ac.
please let me configure my router to point to my dns servers from within the app. the app is too limited for those trying to actually admin. this wouldn't be an issue if going to the site on mobile actually gave me a mobile site instead of redirecting to the app. At least a mobile-friendly ux in desktop view would be nice ;A;
App starts like it wants to connect to the router then finds an issue with the router. Won't describe or corect the issue and Won't advance to the next page. Like router set up it used it of time to accomish very little an leaves no record of the results.
All my Safe Access children's profiles have vanished on my phone app! I had scheduled times different profiles would turn on and off, for school nights and weekends etc and only they've all disappeared. What's going on please Synology! I need help getting them back or how do I roll back to the previous version? I need help!!!
Incredibly limited and quite pointless. Can't even restart router from within the app, or disconnect/connect. Such a great router and such a terribly useless app. Poor show Synology.
it is an ok app. they should really allow access to the packages like intruder detection through the app. very bare bones but it works for simple things.
Doesn't really provide any useful info along with meaningless alerts. So not very useful.
Features in the app are VERY limited. What makes this most annoying is, that I can't use the web interface from the mobile, it is forsing this poor app.
Really really great router, really really great app, just need one thing: can you please make a VPN toggle feature available in this app? THANK YOU SO MUCH!
It works well, but is fairly basic in functionality. I would really appreciate the ability to connect and disconnect from a VPN using this app.
I switched from asus to synology. App need deep improvement. When try reboot says finger prints not matching ))) interesting 🤔
Just moved from an Orbit that is garbage and as of right now I couldn't be happier. Wish this app had a dark mode. If it has one I can't find the option.
The app is updated and has access to all the features the website has, including parental controls. Works great for me.
Would have given it 5 stars, but unlike the old version it's not possible (as far as I can see) to see the connection speed of individual wireless clients.
