The app is working great so far. However, I notice when it caches songs that it displays a pinned icon next to it, I cached some songs, and after its done, and I go back to look at the song the pinned icon is gone, so I am assuming the song is still cached regardless. I also noticed that sometimes the text gets doubled up, and displayed over text, so I have to close, and restart the app to fix it. As far as android auto it works good there, and sounds good. However, the app does not display the playlists on my touch screen stereo, and I do not have a away to shuffle the songs, so if those two can be added to the app that would be great.

Feature and UI-wise, this seems to be the best subsonic player I've tested on Android. Alas, it's not without problems. On Android 9 on my car's head unit, DSub will not play any songs that are cached on either the device internal memory or SD card. If I start a non-cached song, it plays, but then if I got back and play it again, I'll hear 200-400ms of the song then it will try and skip to the next. DSub skips all songs until it finds one that it can stream (i.e. not cached). Same for mp3 and FLAC files. In case something was messing up with my Subsonic server, I did a binary compare of the cached files on the SD cards that DSub created and the original files - they are bit-for-bit identical. This is a deal breaker for me. The ability to cache and playback files is what I bought this app for.

Great app, when it works. For some reason, starting a week or 2 ago, every song I play will randomly stop after a minute or 2. Not sure why. Possible that the latest Android security update hosed something. My subsonic server hasn't changed and plays songs just fine on a different client on my iPad. Hopefully this app hasn't been abandoned because it really is the best there is for Subsonic and Android.

I've been a DSub user for a while, but it's lack of development has left it full of bugs. On Android 10 for me it becomes unusable very quickly as a media list becomes permanent on the screen, showing the scroll-able version behind. Impossible to see the list like this. Until now this was the best *sonic player.

Used to love this app, happily paid for it, certainly got my moneys worth over the years, but moving on due to the glacial pace of updates and the current state of the app not keeping pace with more modern phones. At this point I cannot in good concience reccomend anyone paying for this. You can get the same or better from free android apps that work with all of the modern forks of subsonic that are not of the same unfortunate closed source nature that subsonic went (I always appreciated the open source github for this app). If I get some kind of notification of major updates in the future I will certainly come back, but until then, so long and thanks for the memories.

Although I really like the app, featurewise, I had too many issues with it, I had the battery drain issue(even though I turned off the dlna). I'm using another airsonic compatible player now, but really miss the Chromecast support and syncing starred music files feature. Hopefully this gets resolved, I've tried coming back to this app a few times.

I used this app on an LG V10 for years with no trouble. Now, on my new Note 10+, it quits playing at entirely random times. I thought it might have to do with the widget, but I uninstalled it and the problem persisted. It's not related to the screen going dark or the playing position in the song.

Great app for my Airsonic music server! Lightweight, simple yet powerful and no hiccups in the playback. Easy to set up and configure multiple server connections to fast switch between WiFi and Internet. Turn OFF the "DLNA Enabled" option in the "Casting" menu and there will be zero battery drain issues.

Worked well for a while. Then I started to see the problem of corrupted downloads. When a music file got corrupted, the whole playing queue become hung once the player hits it. The only way to get this thing play again is clear the entire cache.

Pretty good subsonic client... My only issue so far is that the playlists list is really laggy, due to the loading of the album icons. This wasn't the case in other clients I used. - Playlists are unsearchable (which is the case with other subsonic clients I've tried too).

Great app, BUT is unable to detect/read the network SSID in the latest Android version(s). Because of this, users can no longer run it locally on their home network without adding that as a second server with its own library, which I prefer not to do. Dev, please fix this!

As of June 2020 DSub is working beautifully, at home and away. I've experienced none of the UI issues that other people are reporting, and the Android Auto implementation has been flawless so far. I love that I can specify a different URL for my server while I'm at home so that I can stay connected via my local subnet. This is a very thoughtful and feature-rich app that was well worth the price. I'm extremely happy with DSub.

App works to play music manually. However, the main reason I bought this was to use with Android Auto in my car. The app has started playing the completely wrong songs when I issue commands to play a song using "OK Google". Do not recommend if you care about integration with your car.

I've been a long time DSub supporter, and it's still the best Subsonic client. I'm using it with Airsonic now. Has all the features of a great music player, like gapless playback. Custom cache size lets me customize it to work perfectly over a low quality connection.

This is the go-to app for streaming my Subsonic music collection over the last few years! Works great with Android Auto in my Volt, but wish I knew how the voice-based searching works. Glad I made the purchase, as it's a substantial upgrade over the free Subsonic player. I hope the Dev continues to support it!

App works alright. Not formatted for tall displays like my galaxy s8, so there are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Android auto support is great to have but it crashes often which is annoying. Update: Crashing less on android auto, added a star

it's a good app, tbh honest the best I found for subsonic on android (i tried them all). what really bugs me though, the app doesn't resolve my dynnds link, so I can only use it in my home network. that is super annoying, b/c i installed subsonic as my main streaming service. i hope the developper will answer me, i am not too sure about that yet.

Decided to go for the paid version here instead of the outdated version on F Droid to get Chromecast support. So far so good. The UI could use some tweaking as it looks pretty much stock material design. Overall great app for Subsonic!

If you run a subsonic server, and you have an Android phone, then this is the app that you need. The interface and all of the options that are provided are fantastic!

Bre. H. Mar 31, 2020

Had to uninstall this recently because of the massive battery drain (even when not using the app) since upgrading my phone to Android 10. Worked great previously, but it doesn't look like the app is actually being maintained.

Tom. R. Dec 29, 2019

Had to uninstall, seems great but frequent graphical bugs where menu content stays overlayed on the app and will not go away made the app unusable for me. Maybe it will work better on other devices but on my S10+ it's a no go.

By far the best music/subsonic app out there. I use it with madsonic. SO happy to see the development going, again, and that it is not abandoned. THANK YOU!!

Awesome app!! FYI, If you're using chromecast audios and pfSense firewall, you must enable NAT reflection (NAT + Proxy) on your port forwarding before it will cast. Also, in the Dsub app set it to use local device as a proxy in the casting section.
