“Challenge Mode” is a new function on the DTX402 Touch that tests your skill. If you can play all 10 practice songs without making a mistake, you will receive a “Drummer’s Certificate” from the Yamaha DTX drum team that you can share via social media.
Learn While Having Fun
Specially designed for drummers at any skill level, the DTX402 Touch has 10 Training Modes designed to make you a better player, faster. The exercises are a fun way to learn to read drum music notation, play with dynamics and develop your sense of timing. "Rhythm Gate" improves your timing accuracy by only allowing you to play rhythms in time with the metronome. “Song Part Gate" teaches you to play each part of the song with correct timing while the "Recorder" function lets you record a drum solo or play along with a song to self-assess your performance. You can also use "Fast Blast" to count the number of drum stokes made within a set period of time. This helps to increase your speed and build stamina.
Make Customized Drum Kits
Personalize each of the 10 drum kits with over 280 drum and percussion sounds. Simply touch the drum pads on your screen to change or select a sound, and edit them with tuning, volume, panning, mute and reverb to create your own sound quickly and easily.
Simple and Intuitive Control
With a simple swipe, you can select and customize kits, song numbers, set up metronome and adjust the trigging parameters for your playing style. You can view this information while playing in Training Mode and learn how to play preset songs with instructional videos featuring industry professionals.
Update Utility
By connecting DTX402 with your smart device, DTX402 Touch App starts up to date automatically. Or by selecting the “Version” tab on the “Menu” screen, the app ensures that your firmware is up to date manually, so there is no need to download firmware data or connect DTX to your PC.

Finally got it to connect. Touchscreen response for many buttons and arrows is so slow/erratic that the app is unusable. Had to factory reset the kit as it made changes that wouldn't undo. Poor effort.
Doesn't work or connect ive bought 5 different cables and none work, im using the dtx452k with an oppo a7x running colourOS and Android 8.1. Please help been trying all week and the update through the app doesn't do anything, ive reset it and still doesn't work. Sick of spending money for no result at all
I was having trouble with this App although the dtx400 touch works just fine, then i remembered i have a 480KSC. after a few research i noticed that my drum kit belongs to the 400 series witch is different from the 402 series. maybe that's why the App does not work for me.
Got cables but didn't connect. No response at all. Think they could make an app that works, not much to ask.
What happened to the old app. It worked for my dtx 400k and now I can't get it to work on a single one of my devices. A lg q70 and hawaui media pad t5 , Motorola moto e or my Samsung tablet. How is it that not a single device works with this stupid app. I want the old app back. It was just fine.
Not working. I bought the cables, connected to the DTX, nothing. No sound, no connection, no settings, no support.... A waste of time and money.
I have just downloaded this app, but then read some other reviews. I have the DTX450k set. Can anyone tell me weather this 402 app will even be compatible? it'll save me and anyone else with the 400 series some time. Thank you.
It never connects to my DTX drum kit. This app was a major reason i bought the kit. And the unique usb-b cable. DO NOT BUY THEIR KIT if you want to use this app with it.
What's wrong with this apps? I can't setup my dtx450.., I've used this app before long time ago and it works just fine... But now? Please, hope u guys can fix this problem...
Very easy to use with my DTX402. Connected it with my Samsung Galaxy S20+ via USB to host cable and a USB type to USB type C adaptor.
I thought it stopped working but if you use a printer cable and add an addaptor then it will work. 5 out of 5
Utter rubbish. I have the dtx432 and doesn't work at all. wasted time and money to get cable to fit. uninstalled it
Doesn't work on the 400 series, unless you use separate cable and adapter and not a cable with midi-miniusb
This app works really well for my DTX432K. My only complaint is the fact that I cannot import my songs to my module
so far ok, i can set the drum via apps, but need to be improve
Doesn't work with LG G5 to DTX 432. I have tried several cables. Yamaha support told me that it requires Core MIDI on the android device.
I love this app, 'cause it really has cool percussion and drum sounds.
There is no way of downloading the sheets music for the training exercises...
Its not working to both of my device samsung a8plus and nokia 5.3 i think it needs an update on this apps
This app wont work on my android phone. Only 400 touch is working.
I just bought a Dtx 452 and I would like to know if I can download this app to my laptop and if it is compatible with the unit and the laptop or use it with my android phone. Thank you
App will not work with my DTX 450 kit..you tube shows how to do it with an app that doesn't exist

please release the dtx 502 touch on android playstore, so i can get the apps for my dtx 522k without buying a iphone
Registers my dtx450 on the edit kit - details page and shows which bit i'm using. But thats it for me. Theres no change when actually editing the kit and no audio for songs or clicks. I presume thats an app issue as opposed to cables and adaptors etc. Shame because I really wanted to use it for training and lessons.
