Useless app and disappointing radio unit replacement. Can't do anything with it other than raise the volume up or down when using it with my music app. Can't make a phone call without having to unlock my phone, which is difficult when driving. The navigation is basically instructions from your phone thru your car speakers. No different from listening to the instructions from your phone speaker. I regret buying this brand and uninstalling this stupid app.
Remote function works fine, but I'm sitting in the driver's seat, I don't need a remote. What I need is the navigation function, and every time I but the nav button on the head unit, the app crashes. Fix it so it works as it's supposed to and I'll update this review. Maybe I should have just popped a few more bucks for an actual android auto head unit.
This app is great unless you want to use the Navigation. The navigation button on the head unit crashes the app on your phone. Ot looks like there in no rush to get it fixed, this has been a problem for a long time. So if you like using the navigation on your radio I suggest you look in to a better brand that fixes there software app problems quicker. I'm a tuck driver and depend my navigation. Wish I would of bought a pioneer or Sony that has built in navigation.
As far as the app goes. I personally didn't have any issues setting it up and getting it to work. Radio has a slight lag before doing what I wanted it to do. But it works and does as it shows and says. As for the radio unit itself. Won't be keeping it. The radio nav unit is total garbage xvm279nav support is a joke. Can't update the dam thing. Gps shows my house 2 miles from the nearest road the mall is so old. But YOU CAN'T UPDATE IT! I've tried. Waste of money and time.
The most horrible, unbelievable piece of junk I've ever bought in my life. Bought it for the navigation system. But you need the app for that which doesn't get pass the front screen even when you give it permission to everything it asks for. A total waste of money, will be returning for a much better radio once I'm back from vacay. I give no stars such a joke.
What a completely worthless app! I'm not even sure what it is supposed to do because when you open it it just has a little loading Circle that keeps spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and nothing else ever happens. Don't waste your time
Downloaded and it won't do anything. It sits there and times out. I can't even get the navigation button on the actual radio to work so maybe everything's defective, no clue. I have emailed the developer as of a few minutes ago (04/01/2020) and asked if there's going to be an update. I will update if I hear back.
This is a joke. The app doesn't even load and it shuts my radio off. At one point my radio froze and was playing a very loud noise that I had to shut my car off for. Half tempted to throw the thing out the window going down the high way. Only reason I got it was bc of the navigation and cant do that without the app.
Horrible. Just horrible. I personally will never purchase another dual product for the rest of my life. If you want something simple with very limited features, buy a dual car stereo. If you want a good product that various features including a working GPS buy anything else.
Absolutely terrible, worse app I've ever used! All it does is to confuse the radio and then radio has to be manually reset. You press up or down to select a radio station and it has a mind of it's own. Total waste of time.
As soon as I downloaded this app my dual stereo started shrieking. Then shutdown resetting the time, etc. and now each time I try to connect bluetooth it does this. 2nd, when I attempt to open this app it just sits on the screen loading endlessly.
Pretty simple. The app doesn't even open. I have a google pixel 3a. It's not an old phone. The app spins and spins and then says connection timed out. Bought a head unit with a feature that I won't be able to use now.
not bad some times I have to refresh. It would be Kool if power light would stay on when app is up. I only see a split sec light when I turn it on or off . But otherwise all works out great for me. All else works great I give thanks!! ( needs some color )
This app is absolute garbage. Uninstalled it twice to see if there was any difference and nothing. All it does it sit at the loading screen (1st Screen)and buffers/loads.. I bought this for nav and it doesn't work.! Fix this!
Just installed the app on the phone just installed the stereo in the truck. Downloaded the app now five times after uninstalling and still cannot get this thing to do anything other than a loading screen which during the loading screen resets my radio system in my truck and we'll never actually connect
Same error everyone else is receiving. Click on the app and the stereo blacks out.... double check by doing different things like having Bluetooth off. Key on, Acc etc.... nope the app turns it off so much for a 70 radio with navi
The app is great when it was working. Now when I try to open it, it turns my stereo off & resets everything! It's so frustrating. This needs to be addressed & fixed asap!
Trash!! Does not work at all!! Just loads and times out! I have the XVM279BT BUT NOT ABOUT TO HAVE IT ANYMORE!! THE RADIO IS TRASH AS WELL! When I get into my truck I don't know if the radio's going to come on or not I have to pull the panel off and disconnect the main harness and it connected back sometimes for the damn radio to come back on!
Navigation issues as everyone else has said. Every time I hit the Navigation button on the device the app crashes I hope they fix this soon. It's one of the main reasons I bought it.
Like a lot of others have said, I want the navigation feature to work and it doesn't. Every time I press the nav button on the stereo, it crashes the app. Stupid junk
When are they going to fix navigation? We bought this exclusively for the navigation control and NOTHING happens when I push that button on the radio. This app doesn't do anything but pick the navigation app. 😒
I never had an issue with a Dual Radio before the xdvd179bt. clearly the only reason anyone bought it was for the nav access on your phone. since it doesn't work for me or anyone else I guess i need to return it, and upgrade to a better brand
App is awful. Radio is supposed to have on screen GPS but it can only open maps on my phone when this app is running on top. Kinda worthless unless you wanna adjust the EQ more easily.
Terrible this app crashes the stereo when trying to connect and it is needed to use the navigation function of the deck and it was the reason I bought it to begin with. Save your time and your money avoid dual products
Install was simple and easy if you follow the directions and allow all the permissions it's actually quite an easy setup and user-friendly it's all about setting it up correctly allowing all the permissions on the phone app and following the instructions
Doesn't work! Launches and never connects says it timed out and to restart. It did however open other apps at will. By far the most sketchy app I have downloaded.
Guess I'm an idiot for not reading the reviews before installing this app on my phone. As soon as I did my stereo blacked out and powered off. I turned it back on and I lost all my personal settings, the clocks shows 12:00, it won't stay on for longer than 10 seconds, and I'm completely done with Dual. I was debating on returning it or not before I installed the app because it takes forever to power on, well now it's complete garbage. THANKS FOR NOTHING...
