The service is fantastic. My shopper is great. The app itself is fairly simple to use. Searching for items works pretty well but could be improved.I've ordered groceries from Target and Publix, and the product info and prices have been accurate, but sometimes products that the stores carry don't show up. Thankfully, adding custom items isn't difficult. Building a list from past items is very easy.
Dumpling is a great alternative to exploitative gig economy services -- but the app needs a _lot_ of work to be user-friendly. For example: 1) It took me many tries to find the list of items that I bought, which is hidden behind the name of the store (absolutely counter-intuitive); 2) You have to remember to manually save certain actions like adding notes, or they'll just be forgotten, 3) Sometimes you delete items by selecting "0", sometimes by clicking a "Trash" icon, 4) You can't create custom items from a failed search result (that should be the default); 5) Simple quality of life features (e.g. "no results for polato, here are results for potato") are not implemented. If the company is too small to fix these issues, maybe open source the app so others can help?
Great service, but unfortunately the new update needlessly complicated the interface, as well as broke some of the functionality. After adding an entire week's shopping to a list, I told the app to save all items for later. None of those items appeared in the save for later list, so now i need to assemble my list all over again. Hopefully they fix this and improve fhe interface soon.
Can't get set up - it asks for my phone #. I put it in, never get the text message with the code to proceed. Tried different cell phones, no luck. Update: the app started working and I connected with a great personal shopper but the latest update changes the way that orders are put through and it doesn't look like my orders are being sent to the shopper anymore.
App is still a bit rough if you want to use their shopping list, but you can always add in what you don't find, or just take a picture of your personal list and message it to the shopper. I definitely prefer this over Instacart, much more personal and I love having the same shopper each time!
The app has very outdated item lists, including discontinued items. It doesn't update very often I guess so if you submit a shopping order on a certain day and time that person might not actually be available. It's also extremely overpriced to shop with dumpling. I paid $60 for shopping and tip for $150 order which made my groceries $210. My shopper was great though.
Great app and program. I am happy to support local independent business people. With this service, you pay retail prices; no mark-up like other apps do. My shopper was excellent; professional and caring. She went above and beyond by keeping in touch to ensure add-on items were correct, and texted to notify that certain high-demand products were in stock in case I wanted those. Excellent experience.
Good idea, not so great on the app execution. Loved my shopper but not the app. If you are expecting an experience similar to Instacart, don't. This is more like writing your grocery list online. No "similar items" and I found it difficult to browse. I stayed with it because my shopper is amazing.
This app is a life saving game changer. It's easy to use, remembers previously bought items, saves me a trip and helps someone's small business. Our shopper has been the most valuable person to us these last couple of months. I haven't been able to get to the store and she is very prompt and easy to communicate with.
NOT impressed with 4.0 new list making. As a busy person, I am more comfortable with picking the same items I have purchased before than having to rebuild my list each time. I don't want shop the entire inventory of near matches each and every time I make a list. Bring back the "past items" part of the list.
I'm disabled and rely on grocery delivery. I tried Dumpling after I found out that Instacart was a union-busting piece of ****. I couldn't be happier that I made the switch! I may pay a little more in delivery fees, but there's no markup on groceries like there is with other apps, so I just about break even and I'd much rather the money go to the shopper anyway (especially right now!) I hope this app gains a lot of traction.
Kinda pricey, $12 + service fee + tip. I would think that first fee would cover everything except for the tip. Or maybe lower the shopping fee so I can add more to the tip and use it more frequently. Also rather than guessing how much groceries cost, a direct feed from the stores would be much more 2020. However they do have a very cute girl as the shopper in my area, that factored in will be the reason I am going to use this app. LoL..just being honest.
I can't say enough great things about Dumpling!!! Transparent pricing. Get your order quicker! Better variety for stores with the option to choose any store that accepts credit/ debit. Going with Independent Shoppers through this app is the way to go! We care about all of our customers and give a more personalized reliable experience. This company cares about their shoppers/ business owners and we care about our customers!! & dumpling is constantly updating the app as the company grows!!
I love the flexibility this gives my personal shopper. The only reason it's not five stars is the selection could be improved in almost every store I have tried. Simple things like batteries or brand coffee get left out, which is frustrating. Thankfully my shopper can use the app to buy what I want anyway.
Much better than the more popular app. Pricing is transparent with no per item markup. You get a personal shopper that shops for you every time, rather than a random person. Dumpling gets 5%, the rest (usually $10 plus tip) goes directly to the shopper. So they are really an independent contractor.
My shopper was great. The app needs work. There's pictures of products with old packaging, you can't select a replacement item prior to when shopping begins. It would be nice to have a detailed electronic receipt with the final items purchased.
Dumpling was easy to learn and easy to continue to use. At first, I had wished that it came with pre-loaded options for each store, but since it's saves my past items, my use of the app has become faster and more efficient.
Excellent experience with delivery, but the app is very limited. Needs a way to create a reusable custom grocery list. Also needs ability to search the Past Items list, or at the very least, sort alphabetically.
Megan Johnson is a fabulous shopper who goes way above and beyond when it comes to filling my orders. I've used her about four times now. Very communicative regarding substitutions and what may or may not be in stock with photos and all. Always on time always has a smile on her face! Dumplings website for Winn-Dixie could use a little updating with pictures Etc
Tracy is my dumpling shopper. She has been shopping for me for several weeks and has gotten to know me and my shopping habits but never hesitate to text me while shopping to make sure we are on the same page! She makes shopping a pleasure! I can't say enough good about her and I recommend her to everyone! Thanks dumpling! And most of all thank you Tracey
the shopper was incredible and nice but most of the items listed were unavailable and I was charged an extra $5 that I was completely unaware of, no way to contact the company on the app. overall very expensive for very little product. would not use again
Beware! The app definitely needs some improvement but what you really need to be aware of are the personal shoppers themselves. If you get a good one great, but if not there is no one to talk to but the shopper and they can disappeare with your money with no repercussions. I even left a detailed review about what happened and it never showed up on the shoppers profile so unfortunately the next person will never know that I was charged almost $100 more then I should have been. Please beware!
So far my experience has been perfect. Much better than insta and any other similar competing services. It's a great quick and easy way to restock groceries and really any household items from local stores!
One of the more difficult shopping apps to use. Does not reflect local items. Try searching for Kirkland signature laundry detergent (free and clear). Their response was to enter what I wanted in the custom item box. Who wants to do that for your entire grocery list?
The app needs better product listing by store. I know that will get better. But during this lockdown, my shopper is a godsend. She knows what we need in these days of shortages and will grab it if she sees it after a text or call. Get a good shopper and tip them well. Thank you dumpling for succeeding where instacart fails.
Can't save address. I tried using the app, but when it comes time to save an address the Save button blinks in and out really quickly. Too fast for me to tap it. Can't continue with the order at all.
Search is awful. My shopper is amazing, and it's not that other company. I just really wish they'd fix the search. If you search "baby corn" every single item matches one of the two words and you have to wade through tons of items to find baby corn. Really frustrating.
Excellent shopper. Thrilled to be able to get my order from Trader Joe's! But the way the app creates lists is not user friendly. Took me a few times to figure it out and it's still awkward, at best.
App 1 star. All my shoppers my family has had 5 stars! The app is not user friendly but I can send my shopper my list personally and just use the app for payment processing. I like that there are no hidden charges and I'm not paying twice the cost of my groceries!
This app is great for finding a personal shopper to get items from any store. I've only used it for Trader Joe's, and it's great. One problem is the item database in trader joe's seems to be items and pictures submitted by shoppers themselves. Sometimes the item name is different from the pictured item, and there's no way to edit or fix it. Dumpling should use the wisdom of crowds to fix the database.
