Been using Dust for a while. I like the 24 hour disappearing aspect, and the security. But the old Dust was not particularly visually appealing and had no nice emojis or stickers. The new update is much worse. The high contrast color scheme hurts the eyes, it's unattractive, takes FOREVER to load compared to the older version, and has no emojis or stickers of any kind. I hate the update. If it wasn't for the security features there would be no reason at all to use this app.
The encryption is all right, but the way profiles are permanently linked to a cell number is a MAJOR security flaw. I entered in my number and was instantly given access to the account of the person who had the number before me. I can't delete their profile and make my own - I'm stuck with theirs and they can't port it to their new number. An absolutely inexcusable flaw.
Everything is functional. Liked the concept of encryption and auto delete feature. However Video call support and few more features are missing I hope you are working on it already. Although, somewhere in the document, you mentioned the data can be exposed while in rest or transit. The whole point in using this app is not to face that situation. Can you be a bit more clear on this part? And proof that you really delete messages if submitted, I will have all my Snap users migrated here!
Don't bother using this app. Getting the same issue many other are where the verification just won't work. Tried it at least 30 times. Obviously they don't care about this widespread issue because looking at reviews, this spans back months and months of the same issue. Garbage. Uninstalled and reinstalled several time to try to fix. Now it just entirely crashes and doesn't even bother sending a verification code when you type a phone number.
The new version is plain. Public blasts are gone. Cannot seem to change from the plain theme. Ability for video is gone. Almost everybody I knew from the app wanted to get back to the original Cyber Dust, but each iteration goes further and further away. Not sure who they are listening to.
Easy to use without worrying about anyone seeing messages or copying photos with screenshots. As soon as your message shows you that your intended reciepient has read or looked at the photos you can immediately delete the message and or photos on his phone and your phone at the same time, or you can let 24 hours expire and the app will do that for you automatically!
This app was so much better when Mark Cuban owned it. Then it was called cyber dust and worked flawlessly. Instead of leaving well enough alone you all went in and changed so much. Like back then no such thing as screen shots it couldn't happen because it was completely disabled, you couldn't take a picture of your phone with another phone because it blacked it out. Wish people could have experienced the true cyber dust and not this make shift thing you've come up with.
I started to use this app about a month ago after I discovered that someone had access into my conversation chats in Hangouts, I had no idea Hangouts does not have end-to-end encryption. I definitely feel more confident about chatting and sharing personal information including pictures using Dust knowing nobody will see it the by the following day - geez 24 hours is long enough lol. I like how Dust shows when someone is online and typing. The one thing I started to have trouble with is I don't seem to receive notifications when I sign out of the app then sign back in, I don't know if this is an app issue or if this is a phone issue - I purchased a brand new iPhone 11 about a month ago. I sent an email using app support link but I'm still waiting for a response.
Great app use it alot lol love the the privacy and the security as far as tokens go who really cares you're not using the app to get stupid tokens you're using it for its privacy features although I will admit that there new updates have been causing some issues as far as when I receive a message I have to close the app and then reopen it and then wait about a minute for the app to update for my messages to come in a little bit of an inconvenience but I'm still sticking around. Even though it's inconvenient I still give it a a 5🌟for what it does.
In my opinion u went from the best secure chat app to a very worse one. Before u could send videos to a dust contact and u receives notifications when that contact readed the message. Now u removed those features and I have to look for another app that suits my needs. I really hope that you guys make Dust great like before.
Good app, but there is one thing it could use: the ability to change the notification sound. Ive missed messages for a bit because I didnt know I had a message. Changing the sound would make this easier to know.
Had to uninstall. Since the update the app never loads, the screen is almost impossible to read (all black everything and I can't change the color scheme... Perfect...) and it removed my old contacts. Done.
Great application. Does exactly what it says and it's fast. There is nothing wrong with verification like other people complain about, it's just that there is a short 15 second window to enter the code. If you take too long, just get the next code. 25 seconds would be easier, but you only do it once.
unable to login since update. It had been slow to login, but soon after began delay of messages, and now I just get the two dots and the app won't go beyond that. is anything being done to fix this? I see that I'm not the only one!
Needs more control! There should be an option to set if u want chats deleted or not. An option to allow weither what u send can be saved or not etc. Somethings I want to be saved by the other person but this app is very limited
It's very slow to send and receive msgs... At several times it just changed into offline and get stuck with no action, eventhough mobile network is healthy.... And also we cannot mute the camera shuttering sound. And it's very difficult hear it's loud sound. And also no provision for taking screen shot.......
Great experience! Totally encrypted. Conversations are automatically purged after 24hrs with no way to retrieve them. Awesome app! Would have been even better if they added video calls too.
Disappointing that you're killing the product by over developing the product. The update desperately needs to be reversed, it seems punishingly dark , contrasty, creepy and confusing to use for no reason. This is coming from everyone that i have invited to use the app. Also, why remove Cyber from the name? it was very easy to understand in terms of product identification. I personally feel that the original founder needs to step up and take control of the direction wrt the product.
Going to uninstall this for forever!!! Have been using the app for a long time but now facing the issue while sending pics and sometimes while texts too. I had mailed many times but still waiting for the response. Disappointing behaviour of team
I love what the point of this app, however if this app was able to let people build a network, like Instagram, and keep up a streak with friends, like Snapchat, with the ability of letting whichever post or message to be deleted within a period of time, thus preventing people of stealing others contents for fame, it would be one of the best app to be made.
Moved from Signal to Dust. Though Signal is the industry standard, it does not automatically erases chat. You need to remember to set the self-destruct timer. Dust automatically destructs messages after 24 hours. I would love to see an option to set self-destruct timer to 6, 12 and 24 hours user-wise. Will be writing a detailed blog post.
mine started well but with updste it wont go past the two dot loading screen. been that way for days. still getting notifications for messages but can't open them cus of the app not loading. using an android phone
I like the app purely for the message removal feature. Does what it says on the tin. It's basically Snapchat for grown-ups without the bloat. I just wish there was an interface choice more akin to Telegram than jelly bean coloured Whatsapp. Too much wasted screen space.
wont allow me to sign up to even use the app. When it tries to verify my phone number it sends the verification number but no matter what I put in it tells me that its incorrect & tries to resend again & it's just an endless repeat of this until I close it out.
I was one of the first users on this app and was bored with the name and the design, and now I'm just blown away by how clean the design is and how cool the new name is. I like this a lot better and would like to keep using this long term as privacy gets more and more scarce. THANKS, MARK CUBAN! I know I give you a hard time, but only because I know how difficult you'd make me being in the Tank. LOL. ;)
I may change this rating when i use the app some more. However, there does not seem to be a way to remove others from the Chats section of the app. I do not want to block them, just remove them from the section. Also, I saw somewhere that there is a lower than 24 hours period of time in which a viewed message will disappear. Is this true? Also, is there a way to set a deletion timer for a message? If not, then that is a feature that would be an awesome addition. Thank you!
