Easy OTG Checker

Easy OTG Checker is an easy way to test if your Android device supports USB On-The-Go (OTG)
- i.e. USB Host.
You need:
* An USB OTG cable
* Any USB device, for example an USB flash drive.

If the USB device is detected, USB OTG is supported by your Android device.

Note that many detection problems comes from:

1.The USB OTG cable
- some cables that say "OTG" does in fact not work
- so please try a few cables before giving up.

2.The Android device
- some devices (like Samsung S3 Mini) do not seem to deliver power (out) through the USB jack. You need a double-connection USB cable, where a computer or USB charger also can be connected.

3.The USB device
- if you connect a Mouse or Keyboard it might be detected (and handled) by the Android device itself. In this case, OTG support will not be detected by Easy OTG Checker. However, if you see a mouse pointer on the screen when you insert a mouse, USB OTG does in fact work.Same goes for keyboard, if you can use a keyboard on your Android device, USB OTG works.

Downloaded it to find out if my phone supports OTG function before buying a card reader that requires this function. But the app won't tell me unless I plug in a USB device. Defeats the purpose. If I put a device in and it worked, that would answer the question.

'Works' fine on Samsung J5 Pro, but only AFTER plugging in a working OTG device e.g. a USB drive, in which case the phone has already notified you that the device is attached! So, on the J5 Pro at least, it only confirms that which is already known, and tells nothing until both a working cable and device are attached.

A useless App. You can find out if your phone is compatable just by connecting it to a flash drive with the required cable.

if I have an OTG cable / device and connect it to the phone the Android OS automatically detects it and tells me if the phone is capable of using it ... so, why should I need an app to do the same thing if it needs an OTG device to be connected so the app can do its job?!? :V

You have to plug in a USB OTG cord/device for this app to tell you if it works, not helpful in deciding whether to buy a USB OTG cord. Completely pointless app.

Whats the point in this app. I want to check otg support before purchasing a otg cable. The app wants me to check wether my phone supports otg by plugging in an otg device... Then i would already know if it works or not if the phone detects the otg. Really cant understand whats the point in this app.

This is really amazing app . I used this application and knew my otg cable not support with my phone

As noted by others, only checks support for OTG if you have an OTG device connected to your phone, in which case you'd already know the answer.

Waste of time!! This app checks for support of USB otg only after connecting the device to the phone .. What's the benefit then**

Mine gives a red cross. I guess that is a fault of the tablet, rather than the app.

What's the point of this app of I have to plug in a usb card reader first before finding out if my phone is compatible?

Ano. G. U. Jan 29, 2022

fails to detect when in fact a USB device is detected

Apparently, it requires a device needing the "OTG" feature to be connected to the telephone in order for it to detect if the telephone supports the "OTG" function.

Sometimes you just want to strangle people for not reading the app description and then complaining and giving it a 1 star rating. This app performed its function without issue on a number of different usb cords/storage devices. It is working perfectly.

I used a US$2.5 no-brand OTG cable, and a pre-Android 512MB USB stick for testing. Thanks for this ad-free & permission-free tester! Sorry there are so many idiots who think they could just test the phone alone to determine OTG capability, and ungrateful jerks who wanted your app to browse files for free as well...

Great way to check if your device can use otg, haven't tried it yet but soon as I get home time to see if I can use my corded Xbox remote for games, and no unnecessary permissions, nice!

Others apps do check whether the phone has OTG support even when there is no USB device connected to it. This one seems not being able to do so.
