eatOkra | Find black-owned restaurants

After not using this for a while on a trip I tried to use it and needed to sign in again. I got an error message that says DEVELOPER_ERROR. Same when I tried to create a new account. It's too bad this app doesn't work anymore.

I can even find restaurants that serve African cuisine, near rich, white, Winter Park, where I live. I love this app so much and, even though I don't go to restaurants, I'm only eating ar these ones moving forward. I can actually keep down every dish I seen these menus.

I Love It!! The creators were featured on "Roland Martin Unfiltered" and I was hooked. This app is perfect for finding BLACK owned restaurants in your area. My favorite restaurant is on thls app, as well as many more. I love this app!

Awesome app but I couldn't find any option or a setting to allow the use of Maps for navigation. It forces you to use only Waze. This would easily be a 5 star if it gave this option.

Too many malfunctions for my S21 + that have not been cleared up. Logging in, saving favorites. App not functioning properly is the turn off/Uninstaller nail in the coffin.

Empowering! This app allows me to support black owned businesses while eating good food! Thank you for the knowledge! I'm so excited to start exploring!

Disappointed with this app. I didn't find it very useful. Seeing food options are great, but not useful without a menu, a hyperlink to the different websites, something more than what it offers. I would have to leave the app to retrieve that information. Not much here but names and reviews. Simply not enough. Good luck with the app. I love what you were trying to do.

I have had this app for over a year but recently it got way better as more dining choices have been added. Pros: Easy to use interface. Love that I can set it for another city as I travel often...well used to before the Rona. I am a happy EatOkra user. Cons: Some of the dine-in or business hours info not right. Call the restaurant before you go.

Unfortunately, there is only restaurant listed on this site in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. It can only be used as I travel.

Good app, great potential. But it keeps resetting to the main page when I change screens. It's not helpful when attempting to add a business. Please fix it so it stays on the page I was on when I switch apps. Thanks.

I think this app is great. As of now it is 13 cities of inputting info from addresses to phone number. Easily functional, it looks professional and it's easy to use. Looking forward to them getting info for other states and helping us foodies with more adventures all over. ✊🏽

This app was and is a beautiful brilliant idea. It was much needed during the covid-19 pandemic. Now that that is almost over it is still needed to bring forth black owned restaurants and food industry businesses that you would never find anywhere else. I found a place in Hyde Park that has some of the best fried chicken, Lucy's, and it was off the main path so I never would have found it without the app. It is very worth it. You will see.

I love the concept of this app and I would love to use it. Unfortuantely, according to this app the closest black-owned restaurant is 20 miles or more away and in the neighboring state. That proably just says more about my local area than anything.

the only criticism I have for this app is that I wish I could bookmark/like/star restaurants i want to visit. other than that, it works great for my area. I've found and/or been able to confirm black-owned businesses, and I have a list of places i want to go when the pandemic is over!

Good concept, ever there are plenty of black restaurants all across this country even the smaller towns and the lack of vision from the team to include these restaurants makes this app virtually useless outside of major cities. They need to include all restaurants all over this country that are African-American owned. Still no response from emails I have sent.

I can't even open the App after downloading it - "EatOkra has stopped". I'm using Samsung SM-G930V and I checked to make sure that its OS is up to date and it is. I know my phone is old but it isn't old enough to have this level of issue.

Shows and allows me to find all sorts of food that I won't have known of. Just got the app not to long ago and visited one of the restaurants. Will definitely recommend this app to friends and I hope that it will never steer me wrong, so whatever I'm in the mood for then I just plug it in and see what options she has for me. I can't think of a more practical way to search, find, and locate so many Black owned business that I may not of known or have even heard of. I can't wait to visit another

Trying to edit this review- My only complaint about this otherwise genius app is that there aren't any places logged near where I live in Lansing,MI. I said before that there were no places logged in Michigan, But as the developer said, there are lots logged in the Detroit area. I will download this app again after a few more updates to see if some places near my area get logged. This app is a wonderful Idea and I really hope to try it again. :)

N o w i know where not to get my food the app is promoting segregation and is racist maybe next theyll have am app that shows where only black people are served... Slippery slope your playing on what if there was an apo for whife owned buisnesses and zhe consensus was only support the white community (only). Hmmm i do understamd thst certain things physically are different hair products skin needs but food really!?? Thats not a reason i give a wasted thumbs down nice layout of the app thoug

I love the concept of this app. When more restaurants are on the app it will be something I use often. EatOkra a great name as well it has that southern name incorporated in it and for southern restauraints connects with the app and easy to remember.

I love this app but when I went to use it again it asked me to sign in, but the information you are asking for is garbled on the screen. I can't tell if its asking for my name, email, password? Help Update: The developer reached out to me and assisted me and I was able to log in to use this app. Thank you for the follow up!

Amazing app!!! Has so many restaurants I haven't heard of and slowly working my way through them now. I look for to more cities and restaurants getting added. Especially International restaurants.!!

Unfortunately I've tried resetting my password twice and the link will not work. The app is good when I was able to use it but there need to be more listings for California.

Just downloaded and im impressed. I found restaurant i didnt even know were in my area. This app also gives you the option to add black owned restaurants not found in the app (pending adminstrative approval) which I like.

I like that I can find soul and vegan food in my area in an instant but I think the app needs to be expanded. I know there are many more soul/carribean eateries in the area that should be listed.

We absolutely love it. Easy to navigate and we have so many options for where we want to eat. Great app.
