ECHO Smart Control
Download the Smart Control app to set up your smartphone as the trailer brake control interface for the CURT Echo™. With it you can adjust maximum braking power and sensitivity while towing. It also shows diagnostic information like overload conditions and trailer-disconnect errors. For added control and safety while towing, the Smart Control app provides a button to manually override braking and activate the trailer brakes whenever necessary.
With the compact design and plug-and-play installation of the CURT Echo™, it is a highly portable brake control. It is designed to be easily transferred from one vehicle-trailer combination to another. As such, the app allows you to store up to five user profiles, each with its own personalized settings.
The Smart Control app does not need to be open for the CURT Echo™ mobile brake control to function normally. The app can be closed, and the Echo™ will use the previously selected profile settings to determine maximum braking and brake aggressiveness.

It's great when it works, but way too many times it doesn't connect, there's a short end a turn signal light doesn't work. I've purchased two through Amazon. Very disappointing!
Works good but make it android auto compatible. Then literally it would show up on the vehicle's screen. If you did that you could raise the price of the device to probably $350+ easily.
In the absence of a hard-wired brake controller, this device and its app is a lifesaver. Still learning the functions of the different functions but it's a much cheaper alternative to the hardwired option. You literally just connect to the device on your phone, set the controller profile, and then shut your phone off and it memorizes the settings. Literally plug-and-play. I love it. Worthy investment.
This app is worse than garbage. I dont know how you could screw up a simple pairing and control app, but yall managed to screw up royally. The connection to the unit is constantly breaking, trying to re-pair the bluetooth connection doesnt work. My phone connects to the unit via bluetooth just fine, but the app does not recognize it. Multiple times i've had to re download this app to get the functionality to work. Even then it worked once for five minutes and it no longer works. Trash.
It works fairly well. I have had issues with the controller applying full brakes even when barely touching the brake pedal. It's a pain to have to pull over, unplug the unit and replug. It would be nice to be able to restart the unit remotely via the app in these cases. Safer as well. Make sure you plug it in level so that it calibrates level accurately.
Like others I had high-hopes for this new class of bluetooth controller. Also like others I had issues at first getting it to work with my Samsung 9+ until updating to Android 10. I've seen intermittent issues with the controller applying FULL BRAKES to the trailer at times. Needless to say this is scary as hell when it occurs. When it works it's beautiful but when it doesn't, it's an extremely uncomfortable situation when towing 1000's of pounds behind you.
When it works, it's great. When it works. Frequently, when connecting at the start of a trip, the product fully applies the breaks instead of metering the power. I then have to uninstall and fiddle with the product to get it to behave properly. I had high hopes, but it doesn't seem worth the effort at the time.
Does not stay connected. I can connect just fine but it disconnects all the time. It say that I shouldn't worry as the Bluetooth is only used to update controller settings and the controller works without being connected to phone. It does but I noticed that it shows brakes being applied when I am not applying the brakes. Worried about burning out trailer brakes. Gonna buy a hard wired controller and trash this one.
Shorted out: hand is numb and shot all my sensors on my new wiring system ($4500 in damages), note: had 3 travel checks done prior to departure for peace of mind; had to drive 14 mph to the nearest town on a 2-lane highway with NO LIGHTS! At first it was working fine, then wouldn't respond to either my foot braking (synced) nor when manually pressing the screen as it used to in the past; would even intermittently activate with me trying to move forward (nowhere near the brakes). DO NOT BUY!
Love this brake controller as I can set for any kind of weather and road conditions. If I lose wifi connection for whatever reason. It automatically defaults to the very last setting. It has multiple profiles I set up for whether I'm towing with my truck or class A RV. So I always have breaks. Pricey but highly recommend 👌
Everything was perfect until the latest update yesterday. Pixel connectivity has completely stopped working. Which is a great irony because the latest update purported to be a fix for Pixel connectivity.
Lifesaver!! This app ant its Brake controller is hands down worth every penney! Twice I've hit a large bumps to have my trailer start oscillating back and forth. I just reached up put my finger on this big orange dot. Problem solved instantly! Its easy to connect, pretty intuitive. And has saved my hide. Cudos to the developers. Best I have ever used.
Do not buy this product it does not function and can very easily be dangerous, multiple trailers and phones attempted and failure across all of them
Unfortunately this app crashes my phone all the time. Can't even start it... immediately getting "System UI has stopped" error followed by screen flashing on and off and phone rendered unusable, only cycle power can bring phone back to life. I even tried to reset my phone back to factory settings and even after that this app still crashing my phone. This app is useless... and unfortunately it makes brake controller useless too...
I would give it a better rating but after spending the better part of a day wiring a 4way harness, then a 4way to 7way adapter, with an obsessive level of detail and perfect routing of wires.... I tried to pair the device to 3 phones with no luck... I drove the vehicle over to my brothers trailer to see if it paired when plugged into a trailer...nope... Then I noticed that the PIN was also written under the flap on the device, but it wasn't the same as the PIN on the card that it came with!
Im giving this 3 stars for the fact that i use it on both Apple and Android devices and it works SO much better on an Apple. I had constant Bluetooth drop outs with Android. I would like to offer a suggestion though. Id like to get the APK and install it in my truck (2018 Ridgeline) or put the hooks in so that it can be used with Android Auto or Apple Car. This way would be a much easier user interaction with your app. Once set up though the device worked well. Please think about the car interface integration.
Trailer stays disconnected constantly and no way to fix this problem and no one can give me a solution!!! Is worst waste of money I've ever spent. My name is Pat Harris if you need to call me
I have been using this for 8 months worked well on my android one plus 6T. I updated the software. It worked till I stop at a gas station. After I started the car Echo could not find the controller. I tried a few things nothing worked. After reaching my destination I wrote and called Curtis support. Eventually was told it want work with one plus 6T. I asked if I can get the older software and the answer was no you will need a different phone.
The app works most of the time, but occasionally will show that my brakes are being applied when they most definitely are not! I have to exit the app for this issue to clear. It needs some bug fixes ASAP to reliable.
Doesn't find device. Phone bluetooth finds the controller just fine. It's the app that doesn't. It worked for a while and then it was great. Not sure what changed. Software update? Phone is moto stylus g. Runs Android 10.
Won't connect to any of my devices via bluetooth. My phone sees the device on the standard bluetooth settings, but the stupid app still says can't find device. Pretty let down tbh, especially since Its doing the same thing with other devices, both android and apple.
Tried several phones. The phone can see and connect to the Echo unit, but the software doesn't. Through 2 updates to the software, it still doesn't work. Good idea, poor software product.
I've had it about 2 years it worked great for a while but now I can't get it to connect to the app. I can get it to pair with my phone but the app won't recognize it there so I'm at a loss I've tried it with multiple phones and tablets and it's all the same result.
The guys on the phone were super helpful and tried everything they could but this app caused a lot more than 230 for the controller. I had my brakes locking up constantly, dragging the whole trailer and ruining my tires so I ran it on 5% power to avoid the locking up. That just meant all the braking was on my truck so I had to get all 4 brakes replaced for 1500 and will have to get the tires replaced months earlier than otherwise. Just get a normal brake controller installed.
App is clear and simple to use, which is the priority. However if ever an app needs an Android Auto version, this is it. There's literally no use for the app unless you're in your vehicle. It would also be much safer than having to look at your phone.

Would give a 0 if I could. Terrible solution for a brake controller. Loses connection all the time but that's the best case scenario. Normally it won't even tell you it's lost its connection and when you try to gently use the breaks the trailers brakes will slam on and off the entire time. VERY DANGEROUS DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM. Wasted money, I'm going to have to buy a a wired solution like i should have In the beginning. Do not risk your life or your loved ones lives on this dangerous system.
