ECU Connect

IMPORTANT
This app requires an EcuTek Bluetooth Vehicle Interface to connect to your car.
A demo mode is included to showcase the app capabilities if you don't have one.

ECU Connect is the free companion app to the new pocket-size Bluetooth Vehicle Interface launched by specialist tuning firm EcuTek Technologies.

The device connects to the OBD vehicle diagnostic socket of all vehicles supported by the company’s ProECU tuning product (a list of supported models can be found at www.ecutek.com) to allow communication between the engine management ECU and your Android device.

With it and ECU Connect you can retrieve information from the ECU, read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and observe, analyse and log all engine-running parameters in real time, so it’s an immensely powerful troubleshooting tool.

The app also records a log of data streamed from the engine so that you can email it to an expert tuner, for instance, for their scrutiny should you have an engine-running problem.

Don’t confuse EcuTek ECU Connect with other Bluetooth diagnostic devices and apps already on the market as these are mainly intended for reading DTCs, and the few that can also provide data-logging do not have the capabilities or speed of Ecutek’s Bluetooth Vehicle Interface, which is the company’s own in-house development from the ground up.
ECU Connect can only be used in conjunction with the EcuTek Bluetooth interface, which is key to its high-speed operation; it will not work with any other.

EcuTek ProECU – and therefore ECU Connect - supports a number of different vehicles from Infiniti, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Scion, Subaru and Toyota, and most recently has also added support for Honda’s 2.0-litre VTEC-engined Civic, while ongoing development will be adding more makes and models in due course.

RaceROM

Each vehicle model has its own specific combination of engine-management possibilities and features, and one tuned with a ProECU Suite that includes RaceROM brings a host of additional functions for which ECU Connect can be particularly useful.

RaceROM adds ECU maps whose input, output and purpose can be determined by the tuner or vehicle owner to achieve such extra functions such as switching between different engine tunes, running on Flex-Fuel, controlling turbocharger boost, adjusting launch- and traction-control characteristics… and much more.
Switching between maps and making adjustments ‘on the fly’ will be easier and more practical when done cable-free on your handheld Android device.

ECU Connect can also be used to control a car’s ‘factory tools’ if it has these. One example is the Nissan GT-R whose factory tools allow transmission control system adjustments, tyre pressure monitoring system calibration (which requires a TPMS reset tool) , clutch touch-points and pressure adjustments and idle learning, among other things.

App works well, didn't have any problems. Would be nice to be able to log all engine parameters while using the dash feature, it seems to only let me log the parameters I want the dash to display.

Needs improvement. Doesn't work as good as the iPhone equivalent. Only displays data log readings in volts i.e. can't get my AFR readings to display in actual AFR 14.7 numbers. Just tells you sensor voltage that's it. Didn't think I would have to buy an iPhone just to run this app on my car correctly

Please fix the file handling so Android doesn't prompt me if I want every file type on phone to open in EcuTek.

Everytime I open the Dashboard it displays Error and then i can't get out of the screen. I have to choose the app completely to get out. edit: I learned you must have a race rom installed first. I discussed it with Ecutek and they helped me work this out. All is good now.

It really could use a feature that would capture my car's rom profile so that I could build my custom dashboards offline - perhaps in some type of emulation mode. Otherwise, the functionality is good and the ability to personalize and "skin" it is great.

App crashes every single time I push start when attempting to data log. This is on the latest version 3.9.3. They updated it within 24 hours of an email complaint and Google play updated itself with the newest version. It's now fixed. Customer support is on top of it! 5 stars!!!

Really works well. I wish map switching was available but apparently that is an ecu internal memory issue and no fault of Ecutek's. I like the launch control and datalogging features. Raceroms are awesome, too...

Dashboards are great, but you can't work on the layout unless you are in the car and connected to the dongle. Also 3.9.3 update broke the connection to my dongle.

Unable to turn off CEL on GTR. Clicking button within the app while connected andit doesn't actually do it. I have a regular bluetooth dongle that is able to clear it just fine.

It works very well for my GT-R on my Galaxy S8. I wish I can add the valet mode on the app for an easy access, instead of doing it via steering wheel...

Very cool! I have my phone mirrored to my dashboard console and very cool I have all of those options running in real time!

I'm actually using the Nissan GTR. It works pretty good considering I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla. Do you have one for Toyotas?

Work great with an Ecutek RaceROMed 2015 USDM Subaru WRX CVT.

Convinient for switching maps and adjusting custom ROM settings.

App works fine on my android phone...but...I bought it to use on my pumpkin android head unit, 4 weeks later, and nobody can tell me why it won't connect. Feel I have half a product. I was looking to customise my dash on the head unit, bit disappointing for the cost of it.

Works exactly as it should on a Mazda Mx-5 NC (mk3). Requires RaceRom upgrade done by tuner using EcuTek for full functionality. Map switching, Launch Control, Full Datalogging, ECU resetting and Customisable dashboard layout and gauges.
