Ekadashi Reminder

This mini Ekadashi Calendar calculates data of the next Ekadashi vrata for given location: 1) begin time and 2) the period of breaking the fasting. Also it sends notification about the next fasting day. It is based on Hindu calendar and Jyotish astrology.
This app calculates only Vaishnava (or Bhagavata) Ekadashi which are Shuddha (or pure): an observance is based on the rule that Dashami or the tenth day during a lunar fortnight should have ended before Arunodaya (96 minutes period before sunrise on the Ekadashi or the 11th day in a lunar fortnight).Note that Smartha Ekadashis are not supported (available in any Hindu calendar).

Full support for ISKCON: this Vaishnava calendar implements both standards of ISKCON: before 1990 and after 1990. The first standard was established by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and was widely used in ISKCON from the beginning to year 1990 AC. This standard uses Shri Mayapur as the location for calculating the day, when Vaishnava events are celebrated all around the world. In 1990 AC the second standard was proposed: instead of using Shri Mayapur it was advised to use current location.

Features:
★ It doesn't have unwanted Popups, Spam, Ads and Notifications.
★ Application size is very small
- 2.5 Mb. It consumes very small memory space.
★ It is offline application
- it does not require Internet connection.
★ It doesn't retrieve or store any identifying information.
★ It doesn't collect anonymous usage data.
★ It has very simple interface.

Current functionality:

1) configurable program notifications in the system status bar

2) main screen with:-
- the date of the next Shuddha Ekadashi fasting-
- the period of breaking the fasting-
- description of Ekadasi

3) Daylight Saving Time (Summer Time) support for Europe, USA and Australia

4) built-in database of 4,000 cities to select 'Current location'

5) full support for ISKCON:Both algorithms of calculating the start of the fasting have been implemented:-
- a) using Shri Mayapur (near Navadvipa, West Bengal, India)-
- b) using the 'Current location'Notes for ISKCON:-
- a) used by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. This algorithm was widely used until 1990-
- b) alternative algorithm proposed in 1990

6) support Hindi, English, Ukrainian, Russian, Hungarian and Portuguese.

7) "Set Date" and "Set Time" are a part of time machine which can be used to travel to an arbitrary point in time (currently years 2010-2026 are supported) and get information about Ekadashi fasting for that moment. "Update" is used to return to current moment.

Note: the application doesn't save a time or info between sessions. Every time the app is launched it takes current time from system clock and makes calculations again.

8) Dates calculated with "Use 'Current location'" option (i.e. using alternative algorithm) correspond with current official ISKCON calendar
- "Gcal 2011" (Gaurabda Calendar written by Gopalapriya Prabhu from ISKCON Bratislava).

Most of the time it doesn't work. Doesn't notify me about the fasting dates. I have enabled all the requirements like battery optimisation but still doesn't work. And when I manually open the app it shows me instructions on how to use the app like I'm opening it for the first time.

Everything is great but for time it doesn't show either it's am or pm , if it's solved by then it's 10 on 10

Used to work well with my Pixel 3aXL. Recently I switched to Samsung S10+ and since then the notifications are not working. The phone is in 'Medium power saving mode'. As suggested by Abhay, I turned on all notifications for the app, removed it from sleep list but still it doesn't send notifications. However when I open the app and click on test notification, it pops up.

Very impressive app, made me worry free of loosing any date of performing ekadashi. Interesting UI UX and light weight, highly customiable, timely Notification, different time zone and county compitable, with no annoying ads, makes this app a must have for everyone who performs ekadashi all-over the world.

it's a very good app for whom want to get a great life by doing fast on ekadashi. however I am little bit confused most of the time they app is showing as fasting day is of ekadashi which falls on dwadashi. if they provide clarity as why we need to fast on that day whenever such situations come.... it will be benificial to us.

Hare Krishna! One of the great app to keep our culture active. Works perfectly as it says. Thanks for this app - I never miss ekadashi. Reminds me timely before 2 days and explains about the importance of the day. Thanks to the developer and keep adding more features about our culture. Hare Krishna!

Amazing app but there are no future ekadashi dates that I can view after the amalaki ekadashi on March 13! Please update the app so we can get the future ekadashi dates as well!

Sin. V. Apr 29, 2020

This app is great. But i dont understand why the dates of Ekadashi are not the same as i have seen in other internet resources. For example everywhere its written that on 3rd of May starts Ekadashi but here it shows that on 4th of May...

Please note that the app shows the timings as per GMT but the tithis are calculated as per sunrise and sunset. For example the sunset and sunrise in Bengal is not the same as that of Prabhaskshetra so there has to be slight modification which should be based on sunrise and sunset not GMT.Kolkata should be 6 12 ahead if GMT not 05 30.

Excellent for the devotees and those interested in Ekadashi fasting. The time period you provide is of immense help. Thank you so much. One small request, please give dark theme.

Madurai city india App shows fasting starts on 23may2021 but as per calendar ekathasi starts on 22 may. Tried both algorithm. Clarify team Ps: edited rating since I got reply and app is perfectly fine However it has to clearly mention in home app Page that it is based on Vaishnava tradition. Also I will be happy if you could add option to setting for displaying regular hindu panchanga based ekadhasi as well. You coulf avoid many complaining it is not sane as hindu calendar

Awesome and very helpful. Thank you verymuch for this app. Do we have to manually add the DST hours during Nov to March to the time provided in the app? Or is the addition already included?
